Oracle Integration Cloud Service Initial Setup

Divya Prakash - PeerSpot reviewer

The initial setup is easy. And Oracle documents are very clear, which is why it is easy. Moreover, Oracle provides support.

Using mindfully is always needed for a good understanding of the logic or the use cases since every application has some limitations. There are different service limits and loop limits. So those things need to be configured while doing the development.

Configuration installation takes one or two days.

The development changes from use-case to use-case, but it is easier than others since we don't have to reconfigure if something is native. Reusable components can be used, and more than 100 adapters are available, so we don't need to collect custom ports.

Only one person is needed for deployment since code deployment is a 15-minute task. The only time taken would be for business testing and approvals.

It is also easy to migrate and maintain the connections and configurations; we don't have to maintain the reference every time. If you are changing the version, it is not required to maintain the versions like for on-premises applications.

There is a monitoring matrix from where we can see the whole picture of the integrations, where they failed, and why they failed.

The number of people required for maintenance depends on the different criteria, but generally, two people are enough if a client is working in a single timezone.

The initial setup is easy.

I would rate the initial setup a four out of five.

This is where the deployment side comes into play. Oracle does not provide an out-of-the-box way to migrate or deploy from one environment to another. This needs to be improved. We can do it in a custom way, but Oracle should have some sort of migration flow.

The solution's initial setup process is straightforward. It provides easy-to-understand documents to refer to for implementation. Depending on the business requirements, it takes around five minutes to one or two days to complete.

I rate the process a nine out of ten.

I would rate my experience with the initial setup a seven out of ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy. It is a cloud service.

The deployment took a couple of hours.

The Oracle Integration Cloud Service initial setup is easy. It is simple to understand and learn. However, we have run into a few problems on the Oracle SaaS cloud side. We have had to create a tech support ticket with Oracle to get our issue resolved.

The initial setup is easy. However, the provisioning is employee-based. The provisioning is based on the message list, that we have purchased.

It did not take that long especially if you have already worked with or had Oracle. Some pre-setup is required, from an organizational perspective. For us, we took data from our on-premises system and installed the OIC agent.

Our middle layer isn't accessible from anywhere purposefully. That integration was via the internet only.

In general, the setup and other requirements surrounding the implementation will take time. We had to arrange policies, et cetera, before even beginning the setup process.

The solution is very straightforward and simple to set up.

It is relatively easy and not that difficult. At the moment, you just provision and subscribe to it, you just need to provision it. We can do it on our own; it's not a big task.

Just to set it up, you don't need too many people. One person is enough to do the deployment. However, if you want to deploy various integrations, then it depends on the number of applications, and the number of integrations you need to deploy and set it up. If there are maybe ten to 15 integrations, you can do it in less than six weeks or so.

Still, if there are a lot of complexities and too many products are there, and you want to do it very quickly, then you need to add manpower to load it. Otherwise, it is relatively straightforward. Typically, you will need engineers to handle the deployment.

The initial setup of Oracle Integration Cloud Service was easy.

The deployment is very easy to export from one and import from another, it only requires a simple one-button click. For 100 integrations it can take 30 minutes. We usually use microservice for very small integrations and then connect them together.

The initial setup was tricky. When we integrate with Concur, there were some errors and nobody knew why. Eventually we found the solution but it took some time - the solution doesn't handle all the characters that a password could have, which is a small thing. Sometimes we also need to manually restart the virtual machine because some script can run through and doesn't automatically come up. That's a problem. We're struggling with the small virtual machines. We have a system integrator in our team, but we're not quite at that stage yet.

The solution doesn't require much setup. After provisioning, the instance is good to go as soon as the connections are set up. From the provisioning and setup perspective, it is pretty simple and easy.

It takes around one hour for us to provision the instance and start setting it up. Then, once we have the instance available, we can start configuring it as per our requirements. The product is deployed in the cloud. Oracle gives you flexibility for how you can host it, so it can be on your private network or on a public network.

The initial setup is not difficult or complex. It's quite straightforward.

How much maintenance is required after implementation depends on the number of integrations. For example, if there are 100 integrations, then around five people will be required to maintain everything.

For basic requirements, the initial setup is easy but when you start integrating more complex applications, it can become more complicated. We carried out a deployment that included the build, design, and development to production and it took about six months for around 10 processes. We have three developers who work on OIC and we maintain, develop and enhance the product.

The initial setup is straightforward. Deployment time varies depending on the size of the company.

It really depends on the size of the project and the size of the data we'll be dealing with, but for deployment and maintenance, we have a team of three people. The bigger the company, the bigger the team you will need for maintenance.

The initial setup was straightforward and it was easy to get productive. Oracle offered initial support and guidance as well, as they were keen for the technology to be adopted.
However, enterprise customers MUST seek advice from qualified professionals around systems administration and network security, including penetration testing in consultation with Oracle, and must conduct a proper risk assessment as with any other non-trivial enterprise IT system whether or not it is cloud-based.

Although I wasn't involved in the initial setup, I know it's fairly straightforward. I've done it in one of the classes that I've taken, but when I came to this company, it was already set up. It's quite straightforward; you just need to specify the compartment and where you would like to install it.

In terms of the initial setup, it's very easy. Only the deployment gets really complex. You have to write items in without correcting the integration with the Cloud. It's a bit challenging. It would be helpful if they allowed for an implementation where there's an ability to write some pieces, or Java scripts, which would be helpful.

We have a team of three people, who are actually looking after integrations and maintenance, and we have a partner who we rely on at times to add new functionality or design elements.

The only thing to really set up is the installation of the on-premise agent. The installation procedure is really easy and straightforward. No IDE is needed since the implementation of integrations is done using a Web Browser.

The GUI of Oracle ICS is very clear, self-explaining and improves the integration developers productivity.

The initial setup is quite straightforward. You've got the manuals and the guides to help.

For this client, we brought the initial system up in about half a day. However, because of client's business, we turned on certain security features and completed an end-to-end solution. This took about three days in total.
