Oracle OBIEE Implementation Team
We have an Oracle consultant who helps with the implementation part. Moreover, we are also comfortable doing the implementation process with the help of our in-house staff.

Around five to six key individuals, mainly senior executives like CFO, CIO, and CEO, use Oracle OBIEE in our team. We handle maintenance internally and don't rely on third parties for troubleshooting or deployment.

I implemented Oracle OBIEE, so one staff is enough for its implementation. I also implemented the BIApps at the time. However, I also had the help of four consultants during the Oracle OBIEE implementation, mainly financial and supply chain consultants and a database administrator.

You can deploy it with one person. I've deployed an entire OBIEE installation entirely by myself. It's not recommended, and it's not the best way, but it can be done. I know, I've done it. To administer or manage it once it's in place, the ideal team would be at a minimum a three to four-person team. Some companies, when they say, "We need to put in BI, and we need people to do that," they're also, without saying it, asking for someone to set up a data warehouse, run ETL, build and maintain that, run the BI, build the interface, do the reports, and teach or train the employees, which is something I've done. In that kind of situation, you need a three or four-person team at minimum to distribute everything from the data warehouse work, ETL, report development, training, and so on. If the person you're asking to maintain the BI system is not asked to train users, you don't need that skill either. So, it can be done by one person. It depends on what the client desires and is expecting.

We have multiple technical staff working on Oracle OBIEE. However, the exact number is based on the needs of the project. In our previous project, we had three to four technical staff that was needed; in the current project, we have more than 20.

We did it ourselves. For its deployment and maintenance, we need a whole team of people. We probably have about three or four managers, and we've probably got 15 to 20 technical personnel or developers because many different business units are using it.

Sr. Solution Architect at a computer software company with 5,001-10,000 employees
The technical team is actually divided between us and our clients. Some of the reports are being built by the client engineering team, so I am not aware of the relevant account. There are around five to ten people who manage the auxiliary activities concerning the reports or donate any data entry forms to them. This is the type of working we have been undertaking.
We did an in-house implementation, but had experienced ex–Oracle contractors on the team. I would say a good set up of your RPD and a well planned design of your dashboards/reporting framework is essential – and that takes experience.

View full review »We had an Oracle consultant come in to help us. The DBAs actually installed OBIEE and set up the RPD. I'm not sure that, even now, that was set up optimally. We learned a lot as we went along. It's like, "Now we're this far down the road, and it sure would have been nice to know this back here," because I found that going back and trying to really change some of the structure is difficult.
