Oracle WebLogic Server Pricing

Its high expense is a significant drawback. The challenge lies in the fact that, regardless of the economic challenges and budget constraints in a country like Sri Lanka, where I am, the pricing remains uniform. It sometimes feels disproportionate when compared to alternative products that offer similar benefits at a more reasonable cost. Additionally, the licensing cycles can be quite demanding. I would rate it nine out of ten.

The solution's licensing is high-priced. But they offer different pricing packages based on the database. The users can consult the team and get recommendations on the best pricing model for them.

As Oracle WebLogic Server is a product from Oracle, it is bound to be an expensive solution. My company needs to make annual payments towards the licensing costs attached to the product. AMC is a part, the cost of which is not covered under the licenses for Oracle WebLogic Server.

The licensing costs for WebLogic depend on if you go with WebLogic Enterprise or WebLogic Suite. It's a complete suite of products that comes with WebLogic, like Fusion and other products. It is a bit costly.

If you go for WebLogic standard, which is just WebLogic by itself, it's not that costly. Price-wise it's a bit costly if you compare it to free products like JBoss or Tomcat. But if you compare it with other web server products which are commercial, WebLogic is not so costly.

Oracle has quarterly updates, but the licensing fees are annual. In our case, the licensing runs into the thousands as an annual cost. But the pricing depends on the model that you have adopted.

The cost of the solution is okay, however, it could always be less. The cost is always something you need to be aware of with Oracle.

We pay Oracle a yearly licensing fee.

WebLogic uses a per-physical core pricing model. The basic “WebLogic Server” license does not support clustering and is useless in most enterprise situations. The often-bought “WebLogic Suite” license is very expensive if you do not plan on using the included Coherence cache. Take special care when using virtualization: Oracle licensing will insist on counting the number of physical cores on the hypervisor and will not care for configured partitioning of CPU’s!
