What is most valuable?

It's an easy, straightforward management platform to use.

How has it helped my organization?

We have currently bumped into several issues with the Stormshield firewall. It has some unexpected behavior in the terms of activating interfaces that were previously… more»

What needs improvement?

* Better management of high availability features * Application awareness to a higher degree * VPN throughputs: Stromshield needs a higher throughput on some models. When… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

They have a very interesting pricing for their devices. For mid-sized companies, they sell their appliances for good prices.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

The reason why they chose Stormshield to begin with is unknown to me.

What other advice do I have?

I don't have many positive things to say about this firewall because we keep bumping into issues. Now, we are looking to leave Stormshield. Search for a vendor based on a… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The shortlist that I have now is Palo Alto, Check Point, WatchGuard, Fortinet, and Sophos. I have narrowed this list down based on technical specifications, pricing, and… more»

What is most valuable?

As per the solution's blade design, there are many options. For example, you have to buy a UTM blade and an advanced malware blade, etc. If the blade license is there, we can configure from the firewall GUI. The net policy and routing are… more»

What needs improvement?

If you compare the GUI with the Palo Alto and Cisco, they're very easy. Check Point, due to its design, is a little bit complex. They should make the GUI easy to use so that anyone can understand it, like Fortinet's GUI. Many companies end… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to Cisco Firepower Threat Defense, the solution is cheap. However, not as cheap as Fortinet or Palo Alto. If clients have smaller budgets, we would have to advise one of those instead.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

I am currently also working on Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.

What other advice do I have?

There are two deployment model modes in Check Point. One is a gateway level and one is a no gateway all-in-one box solution. With the gateway level, only hardware will be there, all operating systems are stored in a VMware and if there are… more»

What is most valuable?

The Cisco security rules are very strict and very strong. I like the Cisco ASDM (Adaptive Security Device Manager), which is the configuration interface for the Cisco firewall.

What needs improvement?

When comparing this solution to other products, the Fortinet UTM bundle has some better features in their most receive product. For example, there are better configuration features, the Sandbox is better, and so is the web censoring. These… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Cisco products is higher than others, but Cisco is a very good, strong, and stable technology. If we compare Huawei or FortiGate or others then the prices are lower, but the higher Cisco price is acceptable because of the… more»

What other advice do I have?

This is the number one firewall product that I recommend. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

This is my first recommendation for firewalls, and my second recommendation is Fortinet FortiGate.

What is most valuable?

You can apply patterns to look for. That can be done for applications also. You can ask for a specific feature to become a pattern. If you were using Office 360 and had 2 ISPs, automatically using SD-WAN will allow you to switch over to the other link based on the criteria you can set yourself. You… more»

What needs improvement?

The solution is good, but they have poor marketing in Nigeria. They need to market their product better. They need to work on their support. Cisco has the best technical support. In comparison, Fortinet's support takes too long. If you are paying for SLAs, you should also get value from your SLAs… more»

What other advice do I have?

We are using the on-premises deployment model. We are an integrator, so we do integrations using Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos, and Palo Alto. If you're an SMB or a small enterprise, I would recommend Fortinet. I would advise users to make sure they are getting value for what they are paying for. I can… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We integrate solutions on the client's request. Most times I push on Fortinet, as it's a robust system. You can integrate your endpoint with Fortinet. You can integrate the cloud on-premises. Because the solution is so robust and offers excellent the features we tend to enjoy using FortiOS. Cisco is… more»

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features is having the ability to cluster multiple firewalls even if they are different versions.

What needs improvement?

It's a complicated firewall. Until you come to know the firewall inducers, most people don't like the firewall because the components for it are a little bit complex. User-friendliness is a little bit tough. It needs to be more user-friendly when creating policies, and pushing policies. Committing takes more time compared to Palo Alto. The solution needs to invest in its GUI. The interface is very… more»

What other advice do I have?

What others need to know is that they need to have a clear idea of why they're going for this particular firewall. They need to know if are they looking for clustering or if are they looking for link load balancing. If they're not going for clustering, I would suggest they go with the most moderate firewalls like Palo Alto or Fortinet. A certain type of attack, such as evasion techniques, isn't… more»
