Pega BPM Previous Solutions
I'm also aware of Appian. Even if Pega says that it's a low-code platform, when I compare it to Appian, Appian is more low code when compared to Pega.
I've also used Appian.
I have limited experience with Pega. I don't have extensive knowledge about the Pega, however, there are a few things, which may be the reason to prefer Appian over the Pega. The engines, the rule engines, internally, on Appian or Pega work. However, in terms of how they process your request Appian is more scalable and more robust.
View full review »Pega BPM is the number one tool in the market, so the only reason a client switches over to another BPM tool, such as Appian and IBM, is purely because of finances and nothing else. Functionality-wise and feature-wise, other BPM solutions aren't at the same level, not even close to Pega BPM.
In my fifteen or sixteen years in the software industry, I've never seen a client move to another solution because Pega BPM isn't a good tool. Clients always switch from Pega BPM to another tool because of the cost.

I worked on a Vis ID tool and a BPM tool. It was for a short span of time. Pega was far better than that.

I am from a Pega background and I do not know much about other competitive products in the market, so my feedback or whatever I'm giving, that is maybe a bit biased as I have been working with Pega only.
View full review »I would rate Appian higher than Pega. The price of Pega is a bit higher than Appian and the software isn't as friendly.

In one of our projects, we previously used an application called .NET by Microsoft and the solution was so slow. Well, I think it was created 20 years ago so the modification on that application was too slow because the code is much longer and you have to read more lines of code so it was not easy to modify the processes on that application. It was for that reason that we tended towards Pega, looking for more agility on the modifications and giving control to the business people to modify different business rules for themselves.

I was working with various other products like Savvion BPM and IBM VPN. Because some of the customer situations, we switched them from those applications to Pega, and I think customers have been happy with it.

Both OutSystems and Pega BPM are Java-based applications with similar implementation methods. However, Pega BPM has a more integrated digital transformation solution and includes tools for RPA, while OutSystems does not have a specific focus on RPA. Pega BPM has more solutions geared toward digital transformations.

One of our clients was using a BPM solution by TIBCO before switching to Pega. TIBCO is more technical, whereas Pega is more business-oriented.

I like Appian BPM. In Appian BPM I need to code for the components. If it's a bigger program, depending on the sizing, I read about using Pega BPM for that. But I'm working as an Appian Lead and working on Appian BPM tools for about three years.
About a year ago, I was working as a DOS developer and then I moved to Appian BPM and Pega BPM. I get feedback from the users. Based on the data from the POC, I present that to the user and if there is any implement I'll do it on the same day and avail it to the user. If they're okay with it, then I can go ahead and create the application and develop it for the solution.
Working as a DOS developer I'm coming from a different place. I came to know about this BPM tool from the website and learned that it has very good features. So that's the main attraction to BPM tools.

We don't use Pega exclusively. We've got other stuff in there. There are some things for which one solution is good, and for another set of things, another one fits very well. It just depends on the application, the tendency, and the purpose.

I have used different products and shifted to Pega. In the past ten years, I developed an in-house solution, and I also hired a company to develop it for me, but that was not enough. Now I am relying on Pega in Google Cloud, and it is running my business strategy and everything else. It is one of the best solutions in this category. I can't even compare it with other products. Based on Gartner's ratings, Pega is one of the top ones.
