What do you think of Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse?

Primary Use Case Analysing large volumes of data collected from auto ticket barriers at railway stations. • Improvements to My Organization It has allowed fast daily loads and analysis of millions of rows of data, which eventually moved to near real-time. • Valuable Features It handles high volumes of data very well. • Room for Improvement It needs more compatibility with common BI tools.  It does not work well with normal ETL tools. Some functions do not work. • Use of Solution One to three years.

What do you think of Teradata?

Valuable Features Stats, QueryGrid Autostats with collecting stats automatically with the threshold values assigned, QueryGrid has multiple new features i.e data migration, extraction, tool loading, other utilities. • Improvements to My Organization Business, Analytics, Hybrid. • Room for Improvement It should be compatible and free on CLOUD/ AWS. Currently many DB's on AWS are free , Teradata is also on Amazon Web Services, but its charged and no documentation available to practice those LABS . • Use of Solution 5 years. • Deployment Issues No issues. • Stability Issues No issues. • Scalability Issues No issues. • Customer Service and Technical Support 8/10 • Previous Solutions Larger data warehouse / reporting and compatibility to analytics....

What is most valuable?

It's about consolidation of my infrastructure, scalability, high performance, and availability. These are the main factors that led me to choose this solution, as well as the cost. Exadata saves on my storage costs. All our costs were reduced significantly, and that was the reason why we went back to Exadata.

What needs improvement?

On the improvement side, they’re pretty much good. With the latest version, X6-2, we have enhanced the storage capacity. It was 4 TB each disk, now it’s 8 TB each disk; essentially same size appliance with more storage space. That request has been heard and we're able to mitigate that.
