Easy to use, good performance and security, with proactive technical support

What is our primary use case?

We are a distributor and this is one of the products that we resell. I work with the entire NetApp portfolio. It is used by our clients as a block storage solution.

Pros and Cons

  • "The dashboard is such that you don't need to be a storage expert to administer it."
  • "The inclusion of more protocols and interfaces would make it easier to integrate with other products."

What other advice do I have?

Most of the time when we sell SolidFire, it is integrated with NetApp HCI. Together, they make up part of a whole package that includes servers, compute, storage, and network. SolidFire can be fun in standalone mode but most of the time, if we have a need for flash storage then we will use the EF-Series. We also have the AFF storage with ONTAP as an option. My advice to anybody who is implementing this solution is to make sure that it is properly designed. There are always things that you need to be aware of when designing an efficient system. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Easy to manage, easy to provision storage, and it is a good price to performance ratio

What is our primary use case?

We are an IT distributor and this is one of the storage solutions that we implement for our clients. The primary use case is for VMware virtualization, although it is also used for database system storage. Oracle and other SQL databases require a lot of performance in terms of IO per second, which is met by using OceanStore Dorado.

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable feature of this solution is the price to performance ratio."
  • "This solution does not support VMware VVols 2.0."

What other advice do I have?

In Poland, cloud-based workloads are just starting to be adopted. For the time being, the majority of solutions are still deployed on-premises. Overall, this is a good product that performs well and is easy to manage. Everything that is required by the market, this product already has. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Easy to set up, good technical support, and it provides valuable usage analytics

What is our primary use case?

We are a solution provider and Qumulo is one of the storage products that we implement for our customers. Our customers have many use cases including storing office data, audio-video, graphics, and more. Our customer base is primarily in the media and entertainment business

Pros and Cons

  • "The feature that I like most is the analytics part of the file system."
  • "In the future, I would like to see non-disruptive updates."

What other advice do I have?

The mastery of the market in this space comes down to scale and from my perspective, Qumulo and Isilon are the only two products in the market. My preference is Qumulo and I recommend it. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Good product for performance that is stable, and it is easy to set up

What is our primary use case?

We are using this product for performance and growth.

Pros and Cons

  • "Technical support is good."
  • "When comparing with Pure for example, with Pure you have no maintenance anymore and with NetApp, you still need maintenance."

What other advice do I have?

We are currently using NetApp and intend to change the storage next year. Our choices are between NetApp and Pure. We are a transport company, so part of the decision will be based on the price. All storage vendors have good solutions now. We are not using NetApp AFF, we are using NetApp with the disks and a bit of Flash. We have a flash pool with our NetApp and we want to go to full Flash next year. I would rate NetApp AFF an eight out of ten.
