Qlik Sense Valuable Features

The extensibility of the Platform with either internally created extensions or the use of third-party provided items really opens the platform up.

Drag and drop objects create a quick learning curve to create basic reports that still provide business benefits.

Continued development for on-premises versions to enable companies with more restricted data sets that cannot move to Saas/cloud solutions to still benefit from new product enhancements

Ability to highly customize infrastructure/environment set-ups to open huge possibilities.

All the visualizations have been so valuable. And being able to convert them on the fly with minimal changes so the data can be viewed in a different way is nice as well.

I have been in many meetings to go over a report, and the business wants to see what the data would look like displayed differently, and it is so convenient to be able to convert an existing visualization to another one. The ability to search the fields that are in an app is a great feature if you need to filter something quickly.

For me, as an administrator/developer, the management console is more user-friendly, so the solution is easier to maintain. Also, some of the features are easier to create - for example, the tasks (they are needed for the reports to be refreshed).

For the users, the reports look way better, which is quite important as it's easier to find some interesting conclusions based on the data when you have a better-looking dashboard in front of you.

What I found most valuable in Qlik Sense is its flexibility. It's a very flexible tool, and it has a lot of capabilities compared to Tableau and Power BI. In Qlik Sense, you can take data from any of the systems, and you can do data transformation, prepare the data, then present your KPIs. Data transformation isn't present in Tableau, Power BI, and other tools. In Qlik Sense, you're able to get the data and directly present that data. The presentation layer is also very good in Qlik Sense. My company is very happy with this tool.

Qlik sense has a lot of advantages, including:
- For the final user it is a simple tool.
- You can develop a dashboard in hours.
- The changes in a dashboard are very easy. We don't have the common problems that we have using multidimensional cubes.
- The In-Memory engine helps to analyze big sets of that in seconds.
- The storage is small. Qlik compresses the data in QVDs.
- The ROI is very fast. The time of implementation is short and the infrastructure is not too expensive. Qlik uses Windows Servers.

The most valuable aspects of the solution include:

Data Visualization. Qlik Sense provides a variety of options to visualize data, including charts, tables, and graphs, making it easier for users to interpret data and gain insights.

Associative Model. Qlik Sense uses an associative model that allows users to explore data relationships in real-time, enabling them to ask and answer ad-hoc questions without the need for pre-aggregated data.

Self-Service Analytics. Qlik Sense is designed to be a self-service analytics tool, allowing business users to create their reports and dashboards without requiring IT intervention.

Data Storytelling. Qlik Sense allows users to create data stories that provide a narrative around their data, making it easier to communicate data insights and analysis to non-technical stakeholders.

Collaboration. Qlik Sense provides collaboration features that enable users to share their insights with others, such as creating and sharing dashboards, reports, and visualizations, commenting on and discussing data, and co-authoring apps.

I found "Qlik application Automation" most interesting. It allows us to create automated analytics and data workflows. This helped us to create an end-to-end pipeline from raw data to Active intelligence. With Qlik Automation, we can reload multiple apps parallel and chain the app together to run one after another.

Importing/exporting the app script to Github, sending automated emails/reports or chat messages on Teams/Slack based on condition. These are some amazing things we can do with the Qlik application automation feature.

The ETL capability is great. It facilitated the integration of data from different sources without a true data warehouse. Being able to pull data directly from the ERP system and apply the business rules in Qlik, and combine it with the BI data, decreased the business process time. We had to send every request over to our overseas BI team. Being able to have at least one BI resource in-house who is an expert in Qlik, we decrease the development time and started delivering solutions in a much more timely manner.

The ease of use, providing a self-service environment, and high performance when interacting with the dashboards and reports are all great.

Qlik has a powerful load script that uses an enhanced SQL language which is excellent for loading and transforming the data.

Qlik can also store data out into a .qvd file format which is very highly compressed. This file format can then be ready by Qlik extremely quickly, allowing it to rapidly process thousands of rows of data. Qlik also has a range of useful visualizations and also allows for custom visualizations to be created and added as an extension. These can be found online or created by yourself.

Qlik Sense is essentially a web-based tool even though it's on-prem – you're working off an HTML page – so it's pretty quick. Your processing speed does not matter because you're using a lot of stuff through the web. That's great because it brings down the cost in regards to hardware.

At the same time, learning the language is quite easy. It's not SQL, it's not Python, it's natural database language, so you can pick up the usage pretty easily.

Qlik's comprehensive ETL capability makes it stand out from other vendors. The ability to connect to a wide variety of data sources and its ability to transform the data quickly and efficiently is extremely powerful; especially when speed to market is the priority for app development.

The front end has more than enough capability and visualisation options available and rarely is there any limitation that cannot be surmounted quickly and efficiently.

A steady stream of updates ensures that the product keeps moving forward and the output looks great on mobile devices.

It is mainly easy to use. It is simple to develop, which is good. However, on the other hand, there is a lack of functionality.

The self-service capability allows even less IT-oriented people to build their solution as quickly as possible for their next meeting in several hours. The ETL is another benefit of this tool as it is not the standard functionality of reporting tools. You can manipulate and clean the data directly in the tool without dependency on a DB team.

The insight adviser is another high point because it makes it so much easier to communicate with your data. The addition of natural language search has made this a lot more user-friendly and has opened up a lot of use cases.

Set analysis is great for its power user capabilities such as performing an IF on an aggregated column. The ability to create custom coloring expressions based on values is also a good idea although not as easy as I wished it was. Its new trellis feature is great for not having to redo a lot of small charts multiple times and scales well over time. The ability to create presentations in the tool itself is good for users. Unique data visualizations created based on - among others - customer reviews and hands-on experience. Qlik is an experienced company in the Business Intelligence / Data visualization area, that doesn't necessarily mean it is the best solution, however, based on my personal experience it is much more complex than Power BI and Tableau as I've had some things to do with these two concurrent softwares. Even though you need to learn a programming language similar to SQL to bring out the most of it, it's totally worth it.

Obviously and considering that Qlik Sense is a data visualization application, the most attractive feature is the fast handling of large amounts of data and the attractive visualization of the same. The large number of graphs, tables, and other objects that Qlik makes available for data analysis enables the advanced user to understand and discover new relationships between the data they are analyzing. Also noteworthy is the fast pace of updating the program, which I hope will continue in the future.

The associative technology is the solution's most valuable aspect.

Qlik was the first company to implement an in-memory associative analytics engine. This basically means that all data is loaded into memory, but it also means that instead of joining data together, the data is associated together. From the front end, from the UI point of view, data can be joined or included or excluded on the fly. It can be drilled down and drilled through and users can slice and dice it and that type of thing can be done from anywhere in the data to any other place in the data. It doesn't have to be predefined. It doesn't have to have hierarchies or anything like that.

The most valuable feature of QlikSense is that you can capture the data without modifying it and then perform the ETL (extract, transform, and load) process. It is all much faster and safer. In addition, it is also easy to connect to any type of data source.

I think all of the features in Qlik Sense are vital to the product. I enjoy being able to use the ETL features, as well as the front-end scripting (set-analysis). The most valuable feature is that all pieces work together as a platform that allows you to easily provide BI solutions.

Extensions have been particularly useful in my opinion. The reason being you can simply find out if there are any other external graphs or charts out there that have been built by the community and you can simply add them into your dashboard. One nifty extension that I've discovered recently was developed by the folks at NarrativeScience (https://www.narrativescience.com/), which adds context to the diagram you have.
