We used SoftwareOne in Turkey for the implementation. In general, four people were involved in the implementation. We had two people from each side, and then there was a project manager. People from our side were from the Identity Access Management department. They were Access Management architects. From the integrator company, two people were Identity Access developers.

Our experience with SoftwareOne was good. They helped us to customize the solution for our particular needs. They trained us on the solution, which was very helpful for us in managing and doing daily activities. They have also been involved in post-implementation support. We are happy with their support. They have been very important to us. We wouldn't have been able to go further without them.

In terms of its maintenance, for the maintenance tasks, two IM specialists are involved.

Initially, when this was owned by Dell EMC, we had Dell EMC Professional Services for the very first feature. After that, we have been working mostly by ourselves. We have been partnering with IPConcepts in-between for the last couple of years, as needed. Now, IPConcepts has merged with IBM Works.

It has been a good experience working with IBM. We have worked with them over the last four years. When we needed to engage with them, there weren't any issues.

We have had pretty good people on our team so far:

  • For deployment, one or two people were needed.
  • For maintenance, our team is very small. We have two or two and a half people at all times.

Now, we are looking to augment the team as the system grows. As we are growing, we need more functionality and to automate a few things. Until they are automated, we need an in-between stop-gap in terms of resources.

For its implementation, one project manager and two more people are required. One is senior, and the other one is of intermediate experience. Sometimes, developers are also required for customization.

We licensed it from a distributor. In Brazil, it is not possible to directly license One Identity. The distributor's name is ADISTEC. We did not take their help with implementation. We implemented it ourselves. They help me with other solutions but not with One Identity because it is very specific. In Brazil specifically, I do not have resources to help me with implementation. Quest in Brazil has a structure only for commercials. They do help with presale but for implementation, I do not have any kind of help. I usually take the help of the YouTube channel, the official documentation, and the community. We are pretty much doing everything ourselves.

The maintenance usually involves changing the logic, roles, or workflows. After the sign-off for the implementation, I also provide sustainability services where I take care of any problems and also contact the vendor. I also help with the environment and sometimes help implement a new connector if it is easy to implement or is a native connector from an API, for instance. I take care of the sustaining phase issues where we are not installing everything again. We are doing a little bit of parameterization. These services are helpful for revenue and important for our business.

Typically, the installation and configuration of One Identity Manager are handled by a specialized team, while the development and configuration of individual tools to meet business requirements are done by other parties. For installation and configuration alone, it may require at least two individuals with the necessary expertise to ensure a successful setup.

Director, Global Identity and Access Technologies at a financial services firm with 10,001+ employees

For our initial implementation, we used One Identity's Professional Services. Our experience with them was good. They knew the system and they were able to deploy our use cases.

Our migration project with iC Consult happened about two years ago. We were on version 6 and we had just started to undertake a move to version 7 but 8 had come out. We decided to go ahead and jump from 6 to 8. The reason we decided to do so was that that migration took nine months and, while version 7 did not have a UI change, 8 was going to have a UI change and we could not put our users through two upgrades. We had to think about our end-users and jumped straight to 8.

But iC Consult is phenomenal. I recommend them a lot. Many of their consultants and engineers came from the original Volcker Informatiks, which created the tool that we see today. Their employees have fundamental, foundational knowledge of the tool inside and out. They had the scripts, they knew the tables that needed to be restructured, inside and out. It was just an amazing, smooth process. I have colleagues who have fired up to three partners, in trying to get themselves migrated off of 6 to 7, because they were not successful. They are still on 6 and are trying to get funding — because they've thrown away so much money — so they can get iC Consult to come in because iC Consult just knows its stuff around the tool so well.

Our experience with iC Consult was outstanding. They were very involved. During our go-live weekend, Ulli, who is CEO of the Americas now, was pulled onto another project. They felt confident we would get through it without him, but at their own cost they sent another engineer to the US to be here during the migration. They were always very thoughtful around making sure that it would be successful and that we felt confident that the right resources were available.

Because of their knowledge, the iC Consult consultants were able to hit the ground running. So many consulting companies will come in and it takes them a while to get the lay of the land. They've got junior people on the account. We did not have that experience, thank goodness. I had come from a consulting company that was renowned for just not putting the best resources on projects and thus it stumbled and failed. The iC Consult consultants' maturity levels and their knowledge around the tools allowed them to hit the ground running with no issues.

We were completely satisfied. We have used them continuously since then. I have a very lean team — I only have three engineers to handle the global program. So iC Consult will do special projects that we just don't have the time to focus on. They can go off, uninterrupted, and handle those for us.

Product Owner Identity Access Management (IAM) at a computer software company with 501-1,000 employees

It's important to have a good partner, a good process, and good people involved for the initial setup. We started the project with another team and moved to another partner. The partner was involved with training staff on the solution.

The first partner we started with didn't understand what we really wanted and we went our separate ways. Our second partner understood our business much better and we have had a more successful partnership. They've been involved with post-implementation support.

With the assistance of an architect, I managed the deployment process by completing just the configurations for the initial installation of One Identity. Maintenance during deployment is essential, especially when there are significant changes and script modifications aimed at improving performance. System maintenance is a necessary step in ensuring optimal functionality, and we routinely undertake these tasks.

We have worked with One Identity and with their partners, including IPG and Devoteam. In 2014, we worked with One Identity in our environment to deploy the IT Shop.

APG provided training for me and my colleagues. It went very well. We were stronger in our skills after the training and it was done very professionally. They also helped us customize the solution for our particular needs, the first time. Now, we understand things and we can customize the system on our own. Their assistance, along with Devoteam, in customizing things was very helpful. They customized the whole system and we learned from them.

We used the help of One Identity partners because we don't have expertise in One Identity Manager. We are SailPoint experts. They were involved in architecting the whole solution from the beginning as well as in customizing it.

The partners struggled a bit because some of the features are not that flexible in One Identity Manager. The product has all the capabilities required, but it is not that implementer-friendly.

In terms of the training that the partners provided to our customers, I was not present, but the feedback from the customers was that it was okay. They understood things.

Overall, the value provided by One Identity Partners was a seven out of 10.

Senior Identity and Access Management Specialist at a tech vendor with 10,001+ employees

It was a hybrid implementation: We had an in-house team and a vendor team during the time of development for the first phase of the project. The second phase was done purely in-house.

The vendor team was not good. It was just average. There were a lot of times when we felt communication was lacking from the vendor side and at times, there were mistakes in the implementation, also. We recognized some errors long after the product had gone live. Overall quality delivered during development was not up to the mark. Average experience during the first phase with the vendor caused us to stick to a complete in-house implementation for the second phase.

Vendor teams (at least in the US) should be trained more about the tool's capabilities. I have heard that European vendor teams are much better with a lot more knowledge about the product.
