NetWitness Platform Pricing

MR
Senior Assistant Vice President at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees

We have yearly licensing costs. The license fee can be based on the volume of EPS. Some organizations may have, as a gentlemanly gesture, 10,000 EPS and get a 3,000 EPS license but actually use 5,000 EPS.

There is a licensing fee and the customer can choose whether he wishes this to be subscription-based or perpetual.

The product is expensive. I rate its pricing a seven out of ten.

It would help if they could provide the malware analytics in the core package as that would make the cost more reasonable. Licensing is paid annually and I believe the cost is somewhere between 12,000 - 15,000 Pounds per year. It's very high.

The tool is very expensive, so I rate the pricing a ten out of ten. The solution has an annual subscription.

In comparison to other SIEM solutions such as Splunk, NetWitness is less costly.

RSA NetWitness Logs and Packets do not have a subscription model, it's a one-time purchase. There is only a perpetual license.

Licensing models can be complex and subject to change over time. It provides tools to assist in selecting the appropriate license and usage scenarios. The trend is shifting towards subscription-based models rather than one-time payments.

It's my understanding that the pricing of the product is pretty good. Compared to other options on the market, it's reasonable.

I would say it's economical, as the licensing part is always a different ball game in the SIEM tools business, as everyone is running their business in a different manner. If you go to IBM, they will charge you in a different way, for example. RSA will charge you in a different way as well, and Splunk has its own unique licensing policies. I would say it's economical. I won't say it's cheap. It is in between.

Currently, there is only one license. There aren't different licensing models. Hardware is included in the price.

It is not a cheap product.

The NetWitness Platform may be affordable only for enterprise-level customers, as it may not be within the budget of small and medium-sized businesses.

We have a perpetual license, so the total cost of ownership is not very expensive. It's a good investment.

Many clients are not able to purchase the packet capability because there is a huge amount of data, and the cost depends on the number of EPS (Events per second), as well as the number of gigabytes of data per day.

This is a pricey solution; it's not cheap.

Perhaps if the implementation is small then it is not bad, but if you have a global network or a security agency that needs to be segregated on the network, then it can be quite pricey.

The new pricing and licensing mechanisms are fair. I would advise always to get the full solution (i.e., not only Logs).

RSA licensing ranges per core devices and services.

An additional Designated Support Engineer can be acquired at quite a pricy cost. They are reliable as your system and will be given a higher priority than any other support case(s).

From a pricing perspective, I wouldn't say it's too expensive because recently, they came up with a good plan that would also work for small enterprises.

At the early stage, it was quite appliance-based, but now you have virtual machines that take away the appliance cost for customers. So, price wise, it is fair compared to the cost of other SIEM solutions.

Prepare use cases, i.e., what to do and how.

Collect information about EPS for logs and total bandwidth for packets. This will allow you to properly size the licensing.

Hardware is too expensive in my opinion (Eastern Europe). It’s cheaper to run virtual machines in a VMware environment. (Keep in mind that CPU, RAM, and especially HDD requirements must be matched.)
