What is most valuable?

The failover capabilities are definitely the high spot for us. Previously, when we did disaster recovery it would take us easily a day or two to restore all of our… more »

How has it helped my organization?

The big thing for us was our disaster recovery. At that point, we were only able to do a disaster recovery test once a year. Now, we officially do a disaster recovery test… more »

What needs improvement?

The interface is the only thing that we've ever really had an issue with. It's gone through some revisions. The UI, it's not clunky, but it's not as streamlined as it… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

They have licensing breaks as far as 50 users, or 50 VMs, 100 VMs, 250 VMs. We ended up with a bunch of 50 at first, and all of our maintenance renewal dates were all… more »

What other advice do I have?

What needs improvement?

It seems like Unitrends moved away from enterprise customer engagement and moved more towards the managed service provider market. I'm familiar with that market because I do that type of work on the side. That's great, but that's a whole different market and avenue from the enterprise backup market… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Their licensing depended on the number of CPUs you had. It was competitive with other products. I think it was around $1000 a CPU a year. We have about 40 CPUs so It was costing us about $40,000 a year — that was our renewal price. I think the initial price may have been more. We didn't buy their… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used a lot of different solutions before Unitrends. We had so many different solutions that we were using to meet our needs and Unitrends was able to help us bring that down to just Unitrends and DocAve. Before all of that, we were using a combination of Symantec Backup Exec, Dell AppAssure, Dell… more »

What other advice do I have?

Buy everything from them. I don't even think you even have a choice anymore. After us and another big client, they told me they did away with the idea of selling their software. They only sell solutions that are their hardware and their software. You can't install it on your own equipment anymore… more »

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Backup Exec teamed with an IBM Tape Library for magnetic tape backups. Legacy IBM/NetApp and NETGEAR NAS devices were also replaced by Cohesity.

What other advice do I have?

We have been very happy with Cohesity and it has solved several major problems for us. At the same time, they are aggressively adding and further refining features. We are now backing up our O365… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Rubrik and StorageCraft. Rubrik seemed like a solid product but was substantially more expensive then Cohesity. They also did not do anything outside of backups. StorageCraft offers good… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't have any information about the pricing of the solution other than to say it's a little bit higher than we would like.

What other advice do I have?

We're not partners with IBM. We're just customers. We have a good relationship with the company, however, we are not reseller partners. We're using the latest version of the solution. I'd rate the… more »
