Ruckus Wireless Benefits

We have been migrating from Fortinet access points to Ruckus Wireless over a period of 5 years. We could experience good coverage and have increased the overall Wi-Fi quality in our organization to a large extent. We were able to provide stable bandwidth for students even at peak hours, so overall, students could learn even from hostels with uninterrupted Wi-Fi.

The reliability and stability issues of Fortinet have been considerably reduced after implementing Ruckus to hostels to a large extent. Overall, internet bandwidth utilization has also been utilized effectively after the Ruckus implementation.

ChannelFly from Ruckus Wireless has had the most significant impact on the network performance of our customers.

The BeamFlex technology in Ruckus Wireless enhances Wi-Fi coverage. Both BeamFlex and ChannelFly operate in conjunction, with BeamFlex being the underlying technology and ChannelFly being its application. BeamFlex facilitates the reuse of beams, reducing dead spots by up to 25%.

The SmartZone OS has streamlined network management for our customers, providing a unified interface for overseeing switches and IT management. Within this interface, users can easily differentiate between zones, AP groups, and switch groups.

The implementation of Ruckus Wireless significantly enhances network scalability. Unlike some other solutions, Ruckus allows seamless scaling to accommodate growing needs without encountering scalability issues. Customers can easily expand their network by connecting additional access points and adding licenses as required.

Ruckus Wireless improved our organization's operations compared to other competitors like Cisco, HP Arbor, and Extreme Networks. We ran pilot tests and assessed functionality and stability over four months. Ultimately, we chose Ruckus.

Dead zones were immediately eliminated when we deployed these WAPs in all of our locations, plus Ruckus’ analytics on the ZoneDirectors allow us to quickly identify clients that are taking too much bandwidth.

We are able to quickly identify Rogue WAPs in our network and move to disconnect them immediately when Ruckus alerts us.

We also had a plant where the fiber link between switches broke without warning a few months ago. The Ruckus WAPs immediately recognized the network outage and put themselves into bridge mode to bring the network back up over the WiFi link. It was so seamless we didn’t catch the fiber outage for almost 24 hours.

It also enabled us to quickly roll out RADIUS authentication for our internal company network and eliminate shared WPA keys which all of our plants were using previously.

In the years that we have worked with Ruckus, we have found it to be a very comfortable solution for both my own company and our customers. Ruckus enables us to give organizations better wireless access to their network, and can support many devices.

With Ruckus, alongside some Aruba products, we are able to more easily solve communication problems in the companies we work with.

In terms of COVID, we've deployed external access points to the outside of a lot of the buildings. These are very weather-resistant, all-metal enclosures. The students have been able to do assignments and schoolwork and that kind of stuff from the parking lots of the schools. They can drive up in their car, get their assignments, or do work that they need to while they're connected to the school. It made social distancing in this way pretty seamless as everything was already set up on their laptops. Most of the schools are what they call the one-to-one initiative, where every student gets a laptop and they've been able to work through COVID from their cars in parking lots when they needed to be at the school for something. It's really benefited a lot of the schools to be able to do that.

Our clients have significantly improved their functions by reducing the number of access points and avoiding downtime, disconnect issues, and other issues.

I was trying to solve a problem for a client who had multiple access points to cover an area. There were several issues, and a colleague of mine suggested using Ruckus, and it was a revelation. It resolved all our issues. We changed from 12 access points to 3 access points, and everything started to work.

The Ruckus solution was brought in to meet the higher than normal demands that we placed on our wireless network. After the minimal effort to get the system up and running, we've seen most if not all of our major wireless headaches disappear.

With the Cloudpath integration, our guest experience has been greatly improved. Our guests are now able to be self-sufficient in registering on our guest wireless network with a more streamlined and simple approach. The software was very easy to deploy and set up, which was a huge improvement over our previous solution.

Their Bonjour Gateway setup is also built into the product and has been helpful in bridging services from our wired network to our wireless network.

It basically allows you to go everywhere in your office or at your house or even outside your house and be connected. If you wanted to go do a Zoom right by the pool, you can go Zoom by the pool. Or in your office. Basically, I live in a house that's got a lot of trees around it and I've got some outdoor APS. I can pretty much conduct business from wherever I want without having to worry about a lost signal or drop-off.
