Salesforce Platform Pricing
I don't deal with pricing or licensing. In my last company, the pricing was about $1,100 a month or $1,400 a month. This would've been years ago. We were very much a small company then. Now, I work for an organization with 1,000 employees. Pricing is not something I deal with in terms of how much Salesforce costs or how much the user license is.

You really have to work hard with the licensing. they are open to negotiating, however, it takes a while to get there.
View full review »I don't know the exact costs involved in the solution. However, if you look into the comparison, Salesforce charges double the rates, or almost three times, compared to its competitors. Our company does incur additional charges for maintenance and support.

The solution is fairly priced. One also needs to have a good architecture team that can help choose the right solution. Comparing its pricing with other solutions is quite different because I don't think there is a CRM tool as complete, so well-known, and so enterprise-ready as Salesforce in the market. So it's kind of impossible to compare with another solution's pricing.

View full review »The licensing is on the expensive side, but most clients engage in negotiations to reach a more favorable agreement. For stand-alone or medium-sized clients, it can be relatively costly.
Currently, it operates mainly on a monthly basis, with options for yearly subscriptions. In practice, clients often opt for the annual subscription, which results in monthly billing.
Pricing is somewhat intricate in that regard. Salesforce offers various types of licenses, including unlimited, enterprise, and CFO licenses, along with different Sandboxes and channel support options. The licensing structure is not very straightforward. It's very cumbersome.
So customers have options within the license only where customers can get an option of different Sandboxes and channel supports.

Salesforce does a user capacity analysis on a regular basis. For example, if you're not using certain areas, you may lose access. If you don't go in and quote and edit quotes, all of a sudden you may lose your rights to quote.

The licensing is per user per month, which we took out a contract on a long time back. It's really an okay price for what solutions are available and for how many features and what kind of functionality you get.
The only thing is that, regarding the pricing contract, if you agree on 2000 users, you have to pay for 2000, even if you only have 1500. An agreement for 2000 users was in our contract, so we had to pay a little bit extra because we only have about 1500 users currently.

We have a pretty limitless license. However, I don't know the exact costs involved. I'm just a user and do not handle any of the payments or contracts between Salesforce and our company.
We are a partner from Salesforce. There is a special agreement with them.

My advice is to consider in detail what you are acquiring because you might not get everything you need in the initial quote provided by Salesforce. It's tricky and the price will be high.

Negotiate HARD on ability to reduce licenses if business conditions dictate you have to shrink or divest yourself of divisions/departments. They won't want to do this, but that should not stop you for negotiating what's right for your business.
If you desire, you can get them to agree to create custom types of licenses that are specific to the way you plan to use the platform or the tools (sfa, crm, marketing), so this might be worth exploring if you have unique business requirements that don't fit the standard pricing model.

My advice is that if you are going to use a CRM then use it correctly, get licenses for everyone, and demand compliance. Having only one department use it and not others will devalue the tool and its ability to provide effective solutions.

It's the kind of solution that requires consulting, but it is not a licensing cost. It is a consulting cost. It is CAPEX versus OPEX.
