SAP S/4HANA Implementation Team
I have been a consultant and an integrator, and I have hired and onboarded consultants and integrators. The number of consultants that are needed depends on the project, size, and scope of the project. It could be anywhere as low as seven or eight consultants and the number can increase to as much as 25.

We implement the solution for customers. Implementation can take between six months to two years depending on the scope and customer.
View full review »For a migration process, it took around six to seven months, which was the fastest I've done. For implementation projects, it typically takes around one year, sometimes one and a half.
It was implemented in a waterfall approach, and one was brownfield. I would suggest, not from the SAP side, but from the client side, if the hardware components are powerful, the system would run faster. In migration projects, data migration can take a lot of time, so having a reliable server is important.

We used a consultant. Our experience was good.
View full review »The size of the team needed for the implementation depends on the size of the organization. If the organization is relatively small, we can manage the implementation with one or two skilled technicians, and depending on the complexity of it, it could need more technicians for support.
View full review »We used an in-house team.

System & Network Engineer at a tech services company with 1-10 employees
Implementation partners handle setups and our company handles project management and quality assurance from the customer's perspective.
Customers do not manage the complex environment on their own but rather depend on service providers such as Deloitte or Capgemini. The price of operational support only makes sense or is efficient in instances with two or three FTEs.

SAP Technology Manager at a financial services firm with 5,001-10,000 employees
In our company we have our own team for SAP implementation because we are a partner with SAP. We do hire outside people, but not from SAP. We are hiring the manpower from a third-party. If the project size is very large and we need to cover things in a short period, we prefer to hire other resources so that we can finish according to the timeline which is important for every product platform. That's why if we do the things according to the timeline they give us good feedback and the word of mouth comes into the picture and they share it with other people who then reach out to us.

I wasn't a part of the implementation and am unsure if any outside parties were used or if everything was handled in-house.

For the installation, we appointed a separate SAP IT partner. Along with that, our entire company was involved with implementing this project.
It definitely requires maintenance from SAP support as well as our own specialized teams.
