What is most valuable?

* The scalability: The ability to scale the platform to very large capacities, while remaining manageable. * You can do file and object in the same platform using their… more»

How has it helped my organization?

We launched a product. We don't use it internally for our own use. We deliver it as a service to other customers. The impact on our business was that we launched a new… more»

What needs improvement?

* The biggest room for improvement is the maturity of the proxyFS solution. That piece of code is relatively new, so most of our issues have been around the proxyFS. *… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

One of their advantages of being a commercial open source platform is, for the scale that they offer, the pricing is pretty competitive.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We switched to SwiftStack due to technical problems with the previous company.

What other advice do I have?

It is a really good object storage. I would be careful about use cases around proxyFS, because it's a less mature, earlier stage component. It is a good platform, as long… more»

What is most valuable?

When going open-source, there is actually not much of a choice. Ceph was chosen to maintain exact performance and capacity characteristics for customer cloud.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

None. This was a pilot project and it has worked out.

What other advice do I have?

Think twice.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We tried Scality. It is the perfect solution, but was out of budget.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are its scalability and Amazon S3 compatibility because we can move back and forth with a hybrid cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

It's easy to manage. It doesn't require a lot of administration. It will let us grow.

What needs improvement?

I'm really pretty satisfied with it. I suppose the cost could always be lower and they should continue to add the latest Amazon S3 features.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We were using something else. It was not working well and it would not scale well. Our most important criteria when selecting a vendor include a good technical solution, that is probably number one… more»

What other advice do I have?

It has met all of our expectations. Buy it, you'll like it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Scality, SwiftStack, and Cloudian. We chose Cloudian because we should get the best.
