ScienceLogic Valuable Features

I like the collectors and I like the agent-less collector's functionality a lot. To me, that's been the top ones. I also like their integrations with the various types of devices that they've built out over a period of time. The power flow is great.

The solution has a patented technology called Dynamic Component Mapping. This feature works with CMDB. Dynamic Component Mapping is key and unique. ScienceLogic is a Python-coded tool. The product offers flexibility to fulfill our requirements by enabling us to develop our own automation use cases. The product can be integrated with our application monitoring tools.

The best feature is the highly flexible graphs. If you have the time, the output allows you to input the precise information you want. In addition, the solution enabled us to make a single dashboard displaying about 12 vital statistics as we needed them.

It is also fairly extensible, and power packs are available. The modules slot in and extend the functionality. We had the most mileage out of monitoring UPSs, and power supplies in our data center.

The monitoring is very good.

It is simple. We can see whatever is going on. Easily, we can discover everything. We can monitor our virtuality. Mainly the monitoring is simple on the server, and we can easily correct things if there is any problem on the server.

When it comes to features, the power pack is the most valuable. When you look at the current IT industry or IT market, you will notice that there is a lot of trust in the market. Everyone wants to integrate with a monitoring or event management system. I also understand that SAP and Oracle, for example, have their own monitoring tool. However, even if they have their own monitoring tool, they also require a ticketing tool, an automation tool, or a tool that generates tickets for those events.

In this case, we have ScienceLogic. With the help of these power packs, we can integrate any third-party tool. When it comes to storage, network devices, and third-party applications, there are over 400, 500 power packs available on the market. You can always integrate those third-party application tools within ScienceLogic and use them to create an event management solution.

It is not necessary to use ScienceLogic solely as a monitoring tool, because, to be honest, ScienceLogic has some limitations when it comes to application monitoring. If you ask my opinion on ScienceLogic, I believe it is a very good tool for infrastructure monitoring. You can use ScienceLogic for event management at the same time. Where will you make the dashboard, where you integrate third-party applications and create tickets and other solutions of this nature.

There is a lag somewhere on the application monitoring side. People typically use their own application monitoring tool. Take, for example, SAP. SAP-mon is its own monitoring tool. It selects its own application tools, SAP-mon, but ScienceLogic can be integrated with SAP-mon and events generated in our system. You can then create tickets from ScienceLogic for the SAP-mon team and the SAP team. As I previously stated, ScienceLogic as a tool has several power packs and there are numerous options for integrating a number of applications and integrating several third-party applications with ScienceLogic.

The most valuable feature is an OS that enables the deployment of a virtual machine. The product provides agentless monitoring which is based on SNMP so there's no need to install the monitoring agent on each and every server. Other credentials and monitoring are also included. We get great reports and integration is also excellent. This is a simple, easy-to-use tool.

ServiceNow API integration - Allows us to automate monitoring alerts for our internal infrastructure as well as our client environments.

Highly Customizable - The platform is capable of almost anything in terms of reporting/monitoring/alerting. If I determine there is something I need to be monitoring, I can quickly create an event that will be generated. When combined with ServiceNow intergration, our Support Team can quickly address issues.

Phone-Home Collectors - Having the ability for the collectors to report back to a central database over the internet is an amazing feature. Rather than spending weeks establishing a Site-to-Site VPN with each of our customers, we simply provide and ISO file to our clients and input the address/key of our database. We can turn up collectors in a matter of minutes.

IT Infrastructure Analytics with 1,001-5,000 employees

Coverage for Amazon Web Services. We can automatically discover, map, and apply the right monitoring policies to resources as they are deployed into AWS.

Support.

Savings for our IT Operations team.

Ability to automatically detect the dependencies that exist between our AWS based resources and onsite resources.

Intuitive and simple to use - frees up our technical efforts for other tasks.

Enhanced predictive analytics.

We can monitor many different areas of infrastructure: database, network, Wintel, Unix, Linux, etc. and combine them into one dashboard instead of needing to send out alerts. For example, instead of a CPU alert, we can provide a dashboard and allow the team to manage it themselves. I don’t need to send the events anymore, I can provide a visual representation of what’s going on in their environment.

ScienceLogic is a good tool. It has good capabilities as an SaaS product.

It has good monitoring capabilities across cloud environments, data centers, and hybrid environments.

It covers lots of technologies from a monitoring perspective and with its AIOps and event management there. It has good capabilities around that.

I like the APM, the topology mapping they have, and the business service mapping that they can pick up and then feed into any CMTP like in the ICMTP. It has a good feature in that area. It's a good tool from a utilization perspective for monitoring the environment.

The scalability is excellent.

ScienceLogic is multi-tenant from the ground up, starting at the code level. With many other tools, you have to trick them into behaving in a multi-tenant fashion.

It gives us the ability to monitor everything from Windows and Linux servers to physical and virtual servers, SANs, network equipment, and firewalls.

Built-in event correlation and analysis intelligently suppresses expected and known events, while escalating alerts for urgent events.

The built-in runbook automation has helped drive greater efficiency.

The ability to quickly build our own monitoring templates for non-traditional equipment and network interface support.

It’s a platform which we’re able to integrate with. It's very flexible.

I would like to spotlight four key areas where ScienceLogic excels:

  1. The flexibility to support most technologies. The way ScienceLogic gathers data from multiple sources is vital to our customers. As we work with new customers (often with different technology requirements), ScienceLogic is flexible enough to support our clients’ varying network needs.
  2. The opportunity to achieve high value for our services. We can provide monitoring services at different pricing levels to best fit our business model while delivering value to our customers.
  3. They provide the scalability to grow with us. In just a few years, we have grown from five datacenters to over 40 datacenters. ScienceLogic has continuously grown with us.
  4. The availability to provide domain expertise. ScienceLogic provided onsite professional service assistance for a key project to meet our aggressive project timelines.

We now have a solution that lives on our customers’ sites. It actually pulls in the data real time and gives us the proper alerts when we need them.

The dashboards give us an added level of service offering to our customers.

The key features that we really appreciate are

  • The built-in monitoring templates are very good for video.
  • The platform enables us to do a lot of customization with our customers helping us to go the extra mile and differentiate our services.
  • The multi-tenant environment is very good because we’re able to manage all of our customers from one view, while ensuring they only see their data.

The dashboard for our VNOC is one of the best tools to allow our VNOC instant access into our customers' environments. The dynamic apps for the video conferencing devices (endpoints, Infrastructure, etc) are tailored to the wants and needs of our customers. They establish baselines and thresholds based on the industry leaders. The multi-tenant environment allows us to manage multiple customers in a single platform. ScienceLogic gives us the ability to be very granular with our permissions within the different organizations (customers) that we add to the platform.

CTO at HOSTING

The most valuable features of any kind of monitoring system go to its core functionality. I have to know when my customers are down, I have to be able to report back to them on SLAs, I need to be able to also report back to them on capacity. It's no longer just a question of being up or down but how up or down something is in terms of its available capacity and our ability to react to that in a timely manner.

HOSTING's vision of the unified cloud is one in which customers don't have to tightly couple the services that they want from us with a platform that we choose for them. We want the customers to have the ability to deploy their applications across whatever platform they want, be that AWS, or our VMware platform, our Hyper-V platform. We want to be able to provide them consistent experiences across all of those. Then the integration points that ScienceLogic offers, which each of those key external and internal partners are absolutely critical to us.

The ability to see precisely what's happening and how those parts are interacting with a client's IT system.

True multi-tenancy has benefits because we can provide clients with their own fully transparent information from our system of what's going on at their network. It’s a real plus especially for clients who have their own IT teams and want to manage the networks themselves but with the reassurance that our teams are in the background.

I see the biggest features of EM7 is that it is can cover a lot of different products very quickly and without a ton of effort. In my book, the second biggest feature is the company behind the product, they generally respond quickly to issues with some level of urgency and they seem very motivated to innovate the software.

I have thought long and hard about the following statement but if I had to setup another shop all over again EM7 would be the first tool I would fire up #truestory.
