SAP Signavio Process Manager Stability

Cirvesh-Daga - PeerSpot reviewer
Director at T-Systems International GmbH

It is a fairly stable product.

Most issues in Signavio come about because of the initial deployment when you're looking at the target systems and the interface.

Maybe there are firewalls in between that need to be opened. You need special permissions from security for that. Otherwise, I haven't seen any big roadblocks or show-stoppers.

We have not had any stability issues other than recently when they updated to Velocity. You could expect things like that to happen when a new product comes out. Apart from that, it has been 99% stable.

We've had no issues in terms of down times or anything since implementation. I suppose the lack of downtime depends on our AWS server. That's all based in Australia.

Stability-wise, it's been fine. We've had a couple of minutes of downtime and when we've rung the Signavio help team, they've been fine and worked with us and it's been back online. There is nothing where I'd say it had an impact on what we were doing.

Stability has been fine for quite some time, although I had some trouble with the introduction of a new release a few weeks ago. This shook the stability slightly, and unfortunately, it was exactly at the time I was giving a course on using Signavio.

It took perhaps one or two days where it was very slow, and sometimes not responding at all, but it is now back to normal and working well.

Overall, the solution offered by Signavio is very stable. We had from time to time some troubles with stability at the beginning, where users couldn't access the Collaboration Hub. However, this was due to the fact that our servers are based in South Africa. Therefore, the source of the problem is the location of the servers, which made communication with the Signavio cloud unnecessarily complicated. In the context of healthcare though, even a short system failure might have a significant impact on our daily business. Since we combine BPM with DMS, our end-users need the Signavio access to retrieve their documents for patient treatment. If the access is denied, we all feel the anxiety level increase (slightly) because our value proposition is addressing people's life and their wellbeing.

I generally have not had problems with stability issues. It's running really fast and smooth especially for how complex some of the diagram sketches are. The only problem is that it's online-only, and there's nothing like an offline feature, which means that it is only as stable as your internet connection.

In its day-to-day operation, the solution is really easy and helpful to use. But in the last few months, we have had a lot of performance issues. Sometimes Signavio has not been available for many hours. That happened three or four times within six weeks and this had led to acceptance problems.

This is a reliable solution for the most part, although sometimes we see some delays when you pick a process. We don't know if the delay is being caused by the connection or the server at Signavio. Either way, the problem is not bad enough to affect our company. Even our implementation in China is working well, with our Chinese colleagues working on the same platform that we do.

I think it is a very stable product. I found a bug once but I thought I must be doing something wrong. I reported it anyway and it turns out it was actually a bug. There is supposed to be a star at the top right of the process screen to make favorites. If you're looking at a process you can make this a favorite by just clicking on the star and it saves to a favorites list. I was demonstrating the Collaboration Hub to my colleagues in the quality department so the end-users would know how to make a favorite for the processes they needed to visit often. When I went to show them, the star wasn't there. I had to explain that normally there was a star and you can click them to create your favorites. It was a small bug and nothing that made the product crash. So I made a ticket the issue was solved I think after two days.

From my experience, I think that stability is within the level that is accepted by the users. When an error occurs, the users are sometimes unaware as to whether it is a system error or something that the user had done themselves. Some experience is needed. People are also aware that they can access the Signavio help desk to look for answers, although I find that for day to day work, people tend to not contact service with questions.
