Slack Other Solutions Considered

BL
Manager at a computer software company with 1-10 employees

Slack is a good product in its free version, but currently, we are integrating it with VM-sharing solutions like Dolibarr. We are also exploring other products similar to Slack. So, in about a month, we will be moving towards these new products and won't be using Slack anymore.

However, until now, for the past two years, it has been a good product.

In the new CRM RFP, we plan to use Nextcloud. We also use SysTrack, but it's free. That's how our organization works. We have our own server, etcetera.

So, the only problem is we could not integrate it with our new solutions.

We evaluated HipChat and Yammer.

Microsoft Teams was not out yet, which may suit companies with a Microsoft toolset.

Facebook Workplace wasn't yet available.

Interestingly enough, Slack is even more friendly in all platforms including a native Linux client, and has an excellent browser based version.

We may use Microsoft teams in place of Slack in the future, although this is not a decision that I will be part of. At this time, there is not much interest in moving to Zoom or Teams.

We did not want to spend too much time investigating options before starting our remote work and because I was familiar with Slack, this is what I chose.

I did not evaluate any other options as I did not have a reason to. Eventually I heard of Ryver. I was not compelled to switch though.

We decided to just test Slack out first with no intentions to switch from Skype. However, the whole team fell in love with the product. At this current moment, we are experimenting with Workplace though.
