Slack Previous Solutions

We have used Microsoft Teams for collaboration. Teams is also for chats and meetings. Slack doesn’t offer meetings because Huddl gets complicated sometimes. Microsoft Teams has call features and collab. You can integrate MS Teams with your Outlook or email so you get notified of the meetings. I have to set up meetings on Google Calendar and then Slack notifies. Slack should set up meetings with Slack, and you can also take notes within those meetings. Slack is only for chats and as a collaboration tool within an organization, but it could be used to set up meetings and schedule meetings.

We used Microsoft Teams previously. While Slack offers numerous advantages over Teams, the one area where it could improve is in providing a more robust system for document collaboration and organization, similar to the functionality found in SharePoint.

I use Microsoft Teams and Google Chat as well. I'm more comfortable with Google Chat because the interface of my Gmail and Google Chat is on the same page. I do not need to open two different software.

Our organization has multiple tools, like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex. I can choose the one I like. I chose Slack because it is easy to use, and the spontaneous communications and channels are very useful. I prefer Slack for chats, channels, and exchanges with partners, but I prefer Teams or Zoom for web meetings, training, and webinars.

We are using multiple web conferencing tools including Mircosoft Teams, Skype, and Slack.

I would say that the user interface in Slack is more intuitive than in Teams. One advantage to teams is that it is fully integrated into Office 365. I would say that collaborative working on files is better in teams. In our situation, the focus of Teams is internal, rather than with external partners.

We were using Slack and then during the COVID pandemic, we switched to Zoom. Now, we have installed Microsoft Teams and are working with it.

I think it would be excellent if they combined Slack and Zoom.

Teams is a Microsoft product and not free. You have to buy a 365 account and everyone cannot do that. Slack has a facility to avail free accounts.

In 2006, we used IP Messenger. It worked the same way but could be used only in the office. We didn't have any visibility of the communication outside the office. It did not have channels. It had many drawbacks, and Slack solved a lot of those problems.

We primarily use Slack and Microsoft Teams. We know of Confluence but do not use it much.

Slack is a better product than Teams. Teams is more like a chat window, rather than a development window. We were also having issues with Teams, initially, with the user interface when we were trying to create groups. We found that it was not that easy, or perhaps not convenient.

I used Skype for instant messaging and LinkedIn/Facebook groups for community engagement. Skype is clunky and has an outdate user interface.

Slack is slick, smooth, and easy on the eyes.

LinkedIn/Facebook groups are cluttered and distracting. It's too easy for an "oh, shiny" moment to happen on those social platforms.

We previously employed Google Workspace. Slack provides visibility into the online status of team members when the application is active, it doesn't track users outside of the platform. Unlike some other tools, such as Gmail, where your online status isn't visible to others when you're using it, Slack primarily serves as a communication and collaboration platform.

In the cases where it fits best with the team, Slack can be a replacement and enhancement to collaboration, increased productivity, and reduced clutter in email.

A lot of the work that we're doing now ends up on Microsoft Teams. Whether I like it or not, it tends to marginalize and eventually push Slack out of the picture.

We were using Skype. We switched mainly because maintaining different client organizations is pretty easy on Slack.

Other reasons include the powerful search feature, rich messaging, a more customizable interface, chat functionality, and email notifications.
