When we decide to change from Linux firewalls to an appliance we looked at different companies, like Cisco and Fortinet, and we compared these different companies and products. We decided on SonicWall due to the relationship between performance and security.

At the base level for data central testing, we use Check Point. The solution offers more security and sensitivity levels than Check Point. 

We use the solution and Fortinet for the office and factory locations. We prefer the solution over Fortinet. 

I evaluated Sophos and Fortinet solutions.

We are checking the viability of Sophos over SonicWall. When we started using Firewall or UTM, Sophos was Cyberoam. The license was user-based. We saw that Cyberoam was costlier than SonicWall. We could not get financial approval for that.

There's a lot of firewalls available, including Cisco, FortiGate, and Juniper firewalls too. There are many alternatives.

We did not see much improvement in our organization after using SonicWall NSa. We are evaluating other tools.

We also implement similar appliances from Fortinet and Sophos.

We have a very old SonicWall NSa. That's why we're looking to upgrade.

I have evaluated Palo Alto firewalls.

We've been using SonicWall since 2006. When we decided on SonicWall, I had tried another product for 15 days, but it was not serving the requirements that we had. Therefore, we decided on SonicWall.

The license and the hardware both need to be renewed. The annual maintenance contract is there. So they have to renew the licenses.

We have evaluated Sophos, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Barracuda, WatchGuard and now CheckPoint

We didn't look at any other options.

We looked at the Cisco and we looked at the Palo Alto, but the SonicWall was the most valuable for the pricing, the best product for us. The main difference is the pricing.

We did not test other solutions.

We have evaluated Sophos and Fortinet, SonicWall NSa we found to be much better.

It’s been so long ago I can’t remember.

We evaluated Sophos, Fortigate, and Stonesoft.

Cisco, FortiGate

I have been looking at Fortinet and am learning toward it to replace our SonicWall. The main reason that I am switching is that we need something with a built-in VPN.

From what I have learned to so, Fortinet is more expensive but easier to manage.

We considered upgrading the ASA to include the IPS module and adding a second unit for HA.

We also considered PaloAlto but at the time considered it too pricey for our needs. As for as an online evaluation, we did not do that. Time and rack space constraints prevented it.

However, a trusted VAR (more than 12 years) helped to ease our decision to go with the SonicWall.

Fortinet, Dreytek.

We never had the chance to evaluate other options. But lots of my friends are bugging me to take a look at Sophos XG firewalls.
