We evaluated Fortinet solutions such as FortiGate, FortiWeb, and FortiAnalyzer, which are good solutions for important transactions. We evaluated them recently and planned to implement them as we grow.

I was using a different product, and we were facing a lot of problems. The users were not able to open some sites. They were having issues. The sites were getting blocked and all, but with the Cyberoam, there is security without much hassle.

We had a dry run and our vendors suggested that we buy Cyberoam. They gave us a test demo, we were satisfied with the product, and we purchased it afterwards.

This product is going to be at the end of life this year, so we are going to be looking at other devices and other vendors. The best product that we have tested so far is from Fortinet. My second choice would be Sophos UTM.

I checked Fortinet but it was a little expensive at that time for me. We also looked at Cisco but it was expensive. So at that time the two products we compared, because they were easily available in our area, were Fortinet and Cyberoam. And Cyberoam was cheaper at that time.

There were quite a number of vendors in our original shortlist. We chose Cyberoam because it was the leading firewall brand in the world. It still is. We chose it because of its worldwide usage and wide knowledge base on the Internet, and also the positive reviews of its users.

Now, we are trying to evaluate the different brands because Cyberoam was acquired by Sophos, and we are not sure how Cyberoam will evolve in the next few years. Usually in five years, the acquiring company completely acquires their technology and adapts their technology into their own brand and keep on with their brand. So, it seems like Sophos will keep on providing the firewall solution instead of Cyberoam and the Cyberoam brand will eventually disappear.

This is why we are trying to find a proactive solution to get the most support, upgrades, product improvements, etc. This is why we are evaluating whether to migrate over to Sophos or Fortigate, and I have been having a hard time choosing whether to replace all of my Cyberoam products with Sophos or move them over to FortiGate.

Not really, we had the Cisco in place. We had a vendor at the time that was really high on Cyberoam as they have done the evaluation of others for us.

We are thinking of getting another firewall. I'm currently comparing Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, and Sophos. We're trying to see the cost and comparing them on a few points.

Any past evaluation was a long time ago. Before I joined the organization, the organization evaluated Cisco. Nowadays, Cisco, Meraki, and other options came out, and they might not have as many features.

Our customers look at many options but they normally choose Cyberoam because of the data quota, as well as the competitive pricing. After you buy the device, you can get subscriptions for different features. Companies normally buy it for one year or three years at a time.

There are also basic features that are available without purchasing a license. An example is that web filtering is not available without a license, but the data quota management is. That comes with the appliance itself.

Cyberoam will be reaching end-of-life in two years, so we will be moving to something else. We think that if we upgrade to Sophos XG, some of the problems that we are having could go away.

While we did evaluate other solutions prior to going with the product, when it comes to user level controls, I consider Sophos Cyberoam UTM to be the most suitable product.

Yes, Palo Alto (awesome product, but a firewall cannot be more expensive than a kidney). SonicWall, a little cheaper, but I’ve found it to be a lot more counter-intuitive to use, did not like that at all.

Cisco has a very good product, but there were only a handful of support people available in the country at that time. My vendors said that Cyberoam has very good support, you can actually learn it and they offer initial support.

I took up the challenge. I bought the product, did the implementation, went to the user training, and the support was readily available for my vendors.
