SSIS Customer Service and Support

As I have been using the solution for the last ten years, I directly highlighted some questions to Microsoft. It is very easy to reach out to them, and I always receive support from them.

We contacted technical support maybe once. I don't remember when it was, however, once, we had to look at some dump size, and we called Microsoft to help us with that. They did help us, however, it was a very long time ago and I don't remember too many details about the problem or experience.

Microsoft's technical support has been good, especially for critical issues in a financial institution like a bank. The bank receives strong support from Microsoft, and there is a significant level of accountability. If any issues arise, particularly those impacting financial operations, Microsoft is obligated to address and resolve them promptly.

Microsoft has some support for SSIS, but because the company is increasingly transitioning to the cloud, so these on-prem solutions are becoming obsolete.

I've never used technical support. Microsoft does have a very good document library, however, if you have an issue and need support, it can take a very long time to get help.

Microsoft's technical support has decreased in quality over the last few years, becoming less responsive and tending to pass problems on instead of solving them.

The good thing with Microsoft is you can have support online even without engaging directly with Microsoft. Things are very cloud sensitive. You can also request help from the vendor. Less than two years ago, in 2021, Microsoft stopped offering assistance to those using the on-prem solution.

However, in those cases, you can still find support and answers online, from different users' experiences. There's lots of information out there about Microsoft. It's not hard to get help and find answers.

It is very difficult to get support from Microsoft. They will support you till they're getting paid. Microsoft is not interested in support in case of a small issue or help. It is very difficult to get support directly from Microsoft.

Microsoft is good in terms of technical support. They provide 24-hour support. They have built a large community all over the world, and one can find easily the answer to an issue or problem by searching on the web.

We haven't had that many problems. I have interacted with Microsoft support for some things, but it was a few minor issues. And with the updated VPA, it has been clear. I was satisfied with the support. We don't need support for these types of issues. We don't need to contact the support team or stop our business.

I rate Microsoft support six out of 10. Interacting with Microsoft support is challenging because it takes a lot of time, and sometimes you need to repeat your issue over to different support engineers. It was easier to contact support in India because Microsoft had a local presence there, but getting support in Cameroon is difficult.  The response time is slower.

We have support not only for SSIS but Microsoft as a whole because we're an official partner of Microsoft in data warehousing and have a partnership agreement with the company. However, support seems to be connected with sales, and if I call with technical problems and ask if they have some feature to solve the problem, months can go by with no results.

They do, however, have a professional community online and in 95% of our incidents, we can find the solution there instead of calling.
