Symantec Data Loss Prevention Primary Use Case
It's important for information security due to the fact that it's a powerful solution. It defines sensitive secret data on the customer's environment and monitors for any breaches.
View full review »We use Symantec DLP because we have different kinds of users who have been moving around for the mobility of their work, they work either from office, home or other offices. So the encryption of this solution supports us in controlling the data within the organization and not getting any data breached.

We use DLP to monitor network traffic and prevent sensitive data from being exfiltrated outside of the company. Symantec also helps us discover data at rest in an environment that may be sensitive. The solution covers more than 10,000 users across various business units and layers, including endpoints, networks, and storage.

Symantec DMP is for preventing the loss of data from any part of the network, for example, from the network to the core of the data. It has many props, or as it's called in Symantec DLP, "detection servers." There are many detection servers, such as prevention servers and discover servers. Although they can be installed on one server, they can also be deployed on many servers, and they will prevent data leakage in a powerful manner.

We use Symantec DLP for endpoint, network, and storage data loss prevention. Symantec DLP is deployed across multiple locations and departments, covering around 10,000 users.
We have some sectors that have sensitive data, and for that reason we use Symantec Data Loss Prevention. We have some policies on those sectors so that if somebody uses an ID number or some other sensitive number, we record it in our system.

I am an L2 engineer. I'm doing the part of the implementation and the agent upgrades. If any requirements come in for Oracle upgrading we go forward and make it happen. Apart from that, we are doing agent installation and troubleshooting.
Moreover, we'll be in contact with the SCCM team, and give packages to them. They will push the package to all the machines for the SCCM. We can connect to the virtual team and do the other lines for server backups or upgrades.

We use this solution for exact and index data matching, vector machine learning and endpoint prevention. We can use USB, make the solution notify a block policy and make response rules. It allows us to add the directory indication, make the agent configuration from the DLP, and then enforce them.
We can also complete different types of single-tier, two-tier and three-tier installations. For single-tier installation, it can enforce or recommend detections servers on the same servers. For two-tier, it can enforce on the same server and the detection server. And for three-tier, Oracle enforced, and the detection server is on separate servers.

We have several use cases, the main one is probably the prevention of prohibited files from being uploaded. I'm a user of this product and a network engineer.
View full review »We primarily use the solution to follow a process that's already come in. If anyone takes a snap of anything, we can see that. Anything sent through email, uploaded to a drive, or shared to a public drive can be extracted by the DLP agent.

We use Symantec Data Loss Prevention mostly for preventing and protecting against email threats. The tool tracks internal to external emails. Whatever attachment there is that's moving from internal to external is also tracked. If someone's sending a file, it would also be forwarded to the team lead or manager. The password for signing into the email should not be shared because when shared, it will be blocked. We have configured these policies in Symantec Data Loss Prevention. The tool also tracks whenever a user transfers data from one machine to another. These are our use cases for it.

We are managed service provider and system integrator. We have different deployment models and scenarios for different customers, but usually, we deploy Symantec Data Loss Prevention on-premise.
Our clients that are using Symantec Data Loss Prevention have massive use of documentation and they are supporting the digital signatures happening now everywhere. They wanted to secure this information with the solution.
We typically add another solution with Symantec Data Loss Prevention from Titus. It is used for data classification, allowing us to have the DLP and the data classification in one offering.

The primary use case is for handling confidential data, such as customer data, employee data, and IT confidential information. We used this solution in some contracting work. We classify the data by assigning each division user their own classification, e.g., confidential, restricted, internal, or public. According to the data we get from the customer, we find fairly unique keywords and common words from the data and we put it on the Symantec DLP engine as a use case or policy. If, for example, the content or classified files cannot leave the organization, I can turn the use case into a policy as keywords mentioning specific data and unique keywords in the documents. This restricts documents from leaving the organization. That's how I create a policy based on the use case.
