Easy to manage, straightforward to implement, and offers good pricing

Pros and Cons

  • "The solution doesn't have high memory usage."
  • "In terms of management accounts, there's a lot of manuals that seem to be mixed up. Sometimes, it's a little bit confusing."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution for the server.

How has it helped my organization?

This is an antivirus and network protection software. It mostly can protect our VMs and keeps our organizations safer.

What is most valuable?

The solution is very easy to deploy.

You can manage the solution easily. I can get a lot of people on the central management console.

The pricing is okay.

It's very straightforward to use the product.

The solution doesn't have high memory usage.

What needs improvement?

I can't think of any features that are missing. It's quite a complete solution.

We haven't looked too hard at the solution itself. I'm not sure of any aspects that are lacking. It provides all the functionality we need.

In terms of management accounts, there's a lot of manuals that seem to be mixed up. Sometimes, it's a little bit confusing.

For how long have I used the solution?

At this point, I have been using the solution for a number of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable. We haven't really dealt with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's quite reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale quite well. If a company needs to expand the solution, it can do so easily.

Currently, we have 100 servers that are benefiting from this product.

How are customer service and technical support?

We're partners and therefore have a good relationship with technical support. They are responsive and knowledgeable. We're satisfied with the level of service the solution provides. I'd rate them ten out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Symantec. We switched due to the fact that it was too expensive. This product has similar features to Symantec, however, it costs much less.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. I would not describe it as complex.

What other advice do I have?

We're both a customer and a partner.

I am not sure of which version of the solution our organization is using at this time.

We use just the antivirus software. We don't need to pay a lot of attention to it.

Overall, I would rate the solution nine out of ten. It does everything we need it to do and it's easy to use.

A stable, easy-to-setup ransomware and malware protection solution with live detection capabilities and comes included in Windows 10

Pros and Cons

  • "The features I have found most valuable are the ransomware and malware protection. The solution detects malware live and whenever it detects suspicious activity, it quarantines it."
  • "With regards to the interface, a challenge I found was that there was not enough documentation on how to tune it. I had to read multiple sources on the internet to learn how to configure the tool appropriately."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case of this solution is to protect our endpoints from malware.

A lot of our work involves exchanging files with clients, both via the internet, by email and by USB. Therefore, we are susceptible to malware and ransomware attacks. We are using this solution to protect against these attacks.

What is most valuable?

The features I have found most valuable are the ransomware and malware protection. The solution detects malware live and whenever it detects suspicious activity, it quarantines it.

We set our protection to the tightest possible settings, which prevents non-approved applications from making any changes to our computers'.

What needs improvement?

One area of improvement for this solution is to have a faster turnaround time on updating definition files. Since there are usually various ransomware variants, this solution may not pick it up in time like other commercial antivirus solutions. However, we have not encountered an issue like this yet with definition updates.

With regards to the interface, a challenge I found was that there was not enough documentation on how to tune it. I had to read multiple sources on the internet to learn how to configure the tool appropriately.

In the next release, I would like to see the solution have a backup feature were my data could be saved to a Microsoft OneDrive account or an equivalent cloud platform so that, in the event of a ransomware or malware attack, I can easily retrieve my data.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In the past, I have used other solutions from Symantec, McAfee, and RSA.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward. It is just the configuration that takes more time as many features are not very intuitive. As a result, you have to read through what a specific feature does and whether you want to implement it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is an open source version and comes free with a paid version of Windows 10.

What other advice do I have?

I would highly recommend Microsoft Defender Antivirus for an individual looking to protect their endpoints.

An effective security product that is lightweight and works well for virtual environments

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable feature is the security, which is very effective compared to other products."
  • "The dashboard should be improved, as a more user-friendly version is required."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution to prevent virus attacks from outside of the organization.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the security, which is very effective compared to other products.

The resource utilization is very low, not consuming the same level of resources as Symantec.

What needs improvement?

The dashboard should be improved, as a more user-friendly version is required.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using McAfee MOVE AntiVirus for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution and it is being used 24/7.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We did not face any issues when we built up our infrastructure and increased our workload, so it is scalable. We have approximately 500 servers that it is deployed on.

How are customer service and technical support?

When you first contact technical support, they simply show you articles. It is only after it is escalated that a person joins the call.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to McAfee, I had used a similar solution from Symantec. I found that it was much more resource-intensive, although it was more user-friendly.

How was the initial setup?

The complexity of the setup depends on the environment. We have multiple installations and in some cases, it is simple, whereas in others it is complicated. It took us between two and three months to deploy.

What about the implementation team?

We had a third-party to assist with the deployment.

We have two or three people in our company who handle maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing fees are billed on an annual basis.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We trust McAfee and as such, we did not evaluate other options.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to anybody who is researching this solution is that it is very good for a virtual environment. I have not found any bugs, it is scalable, and overall a very good product. My only complaint is about the user interface.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
