Tableau Benefits

Sai Krishna J
Data Scientist at a consultancy with 51-200 employees
In our line of work, we primarily use Tableau Desktop/Server to visualize data based on our clients’ requirements. Once, while dealing with a procurement scenario, we found that the client could save $2.00 on each unit of Part A if they ordered it from Supplier X rather than from Supplier Y. In another case, we designed dashboards that showed data from different sensors located throughout a building. This kind of an application could enable stakeholders to monitor building climatic conditions in real time and adjust thermostats according to CO2 levels and occupancy, thereby driving efficient consumption of power. In this way, Tableau visualizations can be used to take more intelligent decisions as they bring out patterns buried under a mountain of data. View full review »

Assistant Vice President - BICC - Development at a financial services firm with 1,001-5,000 employees
In the long run, things should be faster to deployment, to production, than they used to be before. It's the speed of getting results, based on what the user actually requires. Before it was a very strict, follow the FDLC process. There was a lot of documenting and control that you had to follow before it went to production. We have decreased those a little bit so that they can move to production a lot more quickly than they used to. So time to market, or time to production is a lot faster than it used to be, because of self-service. View full review »

I work for clients. That is my business model. Business people really like to see Tableau. They love Tableau because it is very user-friendly. The platform provides an easy to use interface, which is what most people like about it. Being easy to use is more important to me than the look and feel Tableau gives to your data. Nevertheless, data analytics is what we value the most. Tableau definitely has a big user community. If you get stuck or anything, you can easily seek help through that. Whenever you do this, you get good results. View full review »

Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Syapse
Previously, we built the dashboards manually but this practice proved to be inefficient and ineffective since it meant we spent a lot of time debugging. It's was hard to find developers capable of doing that kind of work at scale. Since the Tableau community user base is so big and a lot of people can use it; the widespread support is one of the biggest benefits. Besides that, it's a fantastic framework to build dashboards and innovative visualizations. View full review »

Program Manager at a non-profit with 1,001-5,000 employees
It allows us to basically understand and evaluate our numbers in an expedient manner. It doesn't require us to need a huge number of data bases that we need to manage. This solution sets everything up for us. It has a good ease-of-use. In the past, we were using several different solutions, and the packages were insufficient for our needs. We used a lot of different software solutions, and extreme Excel, but it wasn't enough for our needs. We were also looking for something that was a bit more user-friendly. View full review »

Tasks which may have involved days, even weeks, I was able to solve them in a very short period of time, thanks to Tableau. Information which was housed in a database, used for exploring, ordering and applying statistical models for analysis can be complex when involving different software. However, it was easy to do using Tableau exclusively. View full review »
