Teradata Scalability

BS

It is fairly scalable. In our company, we currently have around 30 to 40 developers working on advanced data development using Teradata.

Teradata is scalable, but it takes time because you have to increase the servers. On the legacy system, it's the physical servers that you increase and that takes time.

For the Unity side, we've had issues. Otherwise, with the other systems, for all our other clients, the 12 years I worked for them, I had maybe eight or nine P1 calls, meaning that the system was down. The system is very, very stable, except when we started to fill Unity for the bank. Then we had a lot of P1 calls caused by Unity.

We had 120 people in our organization working with the solution. However, our clients, depending on which account, could have thousands of users.

I would rate its scalability abilities six out of ten. While it provides scalability, it is notably complicated.

The challenge lies in the necessity to purchase additional hardware for scaling, so I would lean towards a rating of around four out of ten for the overall experience.

The solution can scale well.

I'm not sure how many users are on the solution. Likely, it is up to hundreds of users.

We do not have plans to increase usage. We stopped using it this summer.

While the solution is scalable, and you can add new nodes if you want to, it's not instantaneous. We need to reach out to Teradata and they will handle the changes we require. Scaling is a process.

Product-wise the scalability and usability, is all excellent. They are the top players in this with their new database. The cloud helps make it so scalable. We're catching up and starting to scale, however, we aren't there yet.

Teradata is scalable. We have two large servers and if we need to add new servers it can be done. Additionally, adding hard drive space or more performance is not a problem.

We have approximately 15 users using this solution in my organization.

It is quite easy to scale. For a cloud-based deployment, it's even simpler now.

Previously, it was easy if we just wanted to add power but there was an impediment when you had to add a node. Similarly, it was difficult when you had to shift to the newer nodes. Now, however, with the cloud, it's easy to do.

In on-premise systems, it was a bit tricky to scale. However, in the cloud, it's very easy.

People are not directly connecting to Teradata. However, they are using reports that are fed from Teradata. In that sense, the entire company is using Teradata. It's more than 1,000 people.

Teradata's scalability is good, it takes only the push of a button to scale up, and if that's not enough, you could scale with the cloud or a virtual machine.

Teradata is great as far as scalability once you have the product. You can move space on the fly. However, adding additional space once your disks are full in the past was expensive. I believe that they are addressing this issue by allowing you to buy only the hardware (disk space, node, amps) you need and not having to perform a total upgrade.

There are a few options that are very interesting related to the cloud. You can go into the same environment and add more nodes throughout it. As I mentioned, we don't have much experience with Teradata on the cloud, but I think it's the way of the future.
