What is most valuable?

* The performance graphs, which allow us to see real-time IOPs. * Latency at the virtual machine (VM) level.

How has it helped my organization?

We can now identify VMs which require a lot of disk performance from a single console. It has also allowed us to give our developers access to disk IOPS that were not… more»

What needs improvement?

The Hyper-V configuration is not as easy as VMware. Documentation could be better as well. The replication technology is good, but could be improved to allow the powering… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing is very competitive, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. At the price point, the restriction to a specific TB size per unit can be forgiven. The VM replicate… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We used Atlantis ILIO. We switched because Tintri gave us similar speed at a good price point on physical disks as opposed to the Atlantis approach of using memory for the… more»

What other advice do I have?

Make sure you have four 10GB ports available, as each controller has two ports. If they are both filled, it will flash the error LED on the front of the unit.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We compared it to Atlantis ILIO, which we were currently running.

What is most valuable?

The deduplication feature in VDI environments. If Tintri say's: "we can host 3000 VMs in our storage", I know, we can host 3000 VMs there. Believe the results.

How has it helped my organization?

It speed up deployment significantly. This is one of the greatest improvements because we are able to deploy several virtual machines in seconds. The cloning feature on… more»

What needs improvement?

The area it needs to improve is the pricing. It could be better. Another topic is the replication feature, In the version 4.3 the syncronous replication is not so friendly… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Explore the Tintri Synchronous Replication feature (licensing is required). This is a good solution to protect your environment at Storage Level and your RTO will be… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

Yes, in the past we used a typical SAN solution. We made the switch because of the simplicity of the design. We can use the same network devices that have a large number… more»

What other advice do I have?

You can ask for a deployment test with Tintri. After you test it you will like it, it's deployment is really quick and simple. No other dashboard is needed because you can… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, XtremIO and you can ask for a deployment test with Tintri, after you test it you will like it, his deployment Is really simply and faster. No other dashboard is need… more»

What is most valuable?

The feature that I find most valuable is the VM level awareness that the VMstore gives you. This is great for finding problems where VMs are hogging all the performance… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Tinri VMstore has improved my organization by providing a huge performance increase, mostly to our Citrix XenApp environment. Our users have not complained about slow… more»

What needs improvement?

The product could be improved by adding iSCSI support, as others have mentioned. We have had to rethink how we implement some of our services due to this.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Tintri is reasonably priced for the solution you get. Advanced features do require extra to use.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We previously used a NetApp SAN which was ageing and not performing, so we needed a new device. Tintri was recommended by our third-party.

What other advice do I have?

Tintri is the best solution that I have used. The performance is second to none!

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

What is most valuable?

* The web GUI for maintenance and resource monitoring purposes is easy to use. * If you have to reconfigure or check something, you will not be lost with too many… more»

How has it helped my organization?

* Easy installation, stable, and reliable operating with an almost zero-touch approach. * Allows for more time to worry about real problems.

What needs improvement?

In sync and automated mirror between two Tintris is missing. However, as far as I know, it is on their roadmap.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Make sure that you have all licenses in one go. Options afterwards can cost extra. An "all-in-one" license model would be better at this price range.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

HP EVA, which is not admin friendly.

What other advice do I have?

Good, friendly sales, marketing, tech, and support teams, who are a pleasure to work with.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Not applicable.

What is most valuable?

* Its VM-aware features have been excellent to use and integrate with XenServer as well. * Its speed has been absolutely fantastic. * Upgrades are super easy and can be… more»

How has it helped my organization?

The Tintri VMstore was faster than most local user laptops and desktops available at the time. Most users were on spinning disk or hybrid storage. In the VDI environment… more»

What needs improvement?

* I would love more insight into each virtual machine statistic. * The Tintri Analytics site is excellent for long-term trending, but more data would be great.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Ensure the storage system "natively" supports the protocols that you wish to use (i.e., CIFS) without the need for the overhead of internal "conversion VMs" that run the… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

No previous solution was used.

What other advice do I have?

Tintri has been a breeze to deal with! We have had no issues.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Pure Storage SSD arrays.

What do you think of Tintri VMstore?

Tintri's VM-aware storage appliances combined with their intuitive management tools has given us the ability to quickly and easily understand, manage and troubleshoot storage at the granularity of a VM\vDisk.   Appliance performance has exceeded expectations allowing us to migrate more demanding workloads without concern while increasing the responsiveness and throughput of those applications.  Going forward we would like to see tighter integration with vSphere to enable the use of tags and other meta data for use in QoS and other management and reporting functions. Tintri truly delivers a setup and forget storage solution that allows us to focus on our primary business instead of managing complicated storage platforms. Supported with the release and continual improvement of Tintri…

What do you think of Tintri VMstore?

What is our primary use case?

We primarily used the solution for the server and for our VDI.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of the solution was how fast it worked on behalf of VDI desktops. The dashboard and the integration capabilities were okay.

What needs improvement?

In the end, we decided the price wasn't going to work for us, along with the fact there was fussiness around the storage.  Technical support needs improvement as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used this solution for five years.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support is an area where we had several issues, and it was hard to get some support in a specific case we had. I'm not very satisfied with them.

How was the initial setup?

The…

What do you think of Tintri VMstore?

What is our primary use case?

In our production environment, we have 10 ESX hosts with two replicated Tintri T850 SAN.

How has it helped my organization?

It is fast and reliable. There hasn’t been a single failure in three years of use.  The VMs have worked fine, and the bandwidth to the Tintri SAN has never been an issue.

What is most valuable?

Ease of managing and installing: It’s just to enter an IP address and you’re good to go.  It’s very good at IOPS.  The firmware upgrade is easy.

What needs improvement?

I would like it to have the ability to store data other than virtual machines. At the moment, you can only connect VMs to it, and that’s a bit disappointing.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.
