Trend Micro Apex One Previous Solutions
We had QRadar and Symantec before that. We did a POC for Trend Micro with good results. One of the biggest benefits is that it is a consolidated solution. Everything is managed from one console.

I've also worked with McAfee, Symantec, Kaspersky, and AVG. I work with a lot of cybersecurity products. Prior to this product, I specifically used Symantec.
I also worked with Crowdstrike; however, it works using a different algorithm. Apex One is based more on data and works more on a behavioral basis, and Crowdstrike does not work like that.

I've previously worked with Symantec and McAfee. This is my third solution. I find Trend Micro to be very user-friendly. Everything is integrated under one solution. It's a host-based intrusion prevention system by default and we get protection of all four endpoints with it.
We previously only used free business services such as lightweight protection and OfficeScan.

I previously worked with Kaspersky and McAfee, but we are new to the XDR. It's a relatively new service and there are only a few competing products. For example, Check Point also has this option.
I don't think that there is a significant difference between Apex One and other solutions, but I think this is an expert solution. I have not tried all of them, so I can't say definitively if they are better or worse. However, one difference is that an agent uses up processing power and computer memory. Kaspersky uses a lot of memory, whereas Micro Focus doesn't seem to cause the computer's performance to slow down. Maybe if you perform a huge scan, you'll notice it's working slower, but usually, it isn't too much.

Previously we used Symantec Endpoint Security and switched to Trend Micro Apex One because we were not receiving sufficient support from Symantec Endpoint Security after its acquisition by Broadcom.
View full review »We previously used Kaspersky and switched to Trend Micro Apex One because of the Integrated Business Solutions. My goal was to accomplish two areas, particularly the Deep Security server. I was searching for my server and subsequently, data loss protection. For the two extra seasons, the cost was lower than that of Kaspersky and the features were more extensive.
Since I have been working at the organization, the company has always used Trend Micro. I don't know if they used anything else prior to that. That said, we use a number of other services as security in depth. We have other gateways and firewalls and a bunch of other items that we use.

I also work with SentinelOne and CrowdStrike, which I regard as the most advanced solutions. Apex One's GUI is way too old school and their R&D is behind. Apex One has most of the features, but it's lacking some things that are necessary in today's landscape.
SentinelOne is the clear winner out of these three because it offers end-to-end protection against anything malicious. If it's a Mac endpoint, SentinelOne can end the process through launch. SentinelOne also offers a more in-depth EDR analysis than Apex One.
Trend Micro Vision One has a different feature set because Vision One is an XDR, but Apex One is an EDR. In my use case, Apex One is too old school compared to Vision One, which has more capabilities and advanced features.

We were using McAfee before using Apex One. Pricing, functionality, and ease of management were the reasons for moving to Apex One.
We have recently migrated from Apex One to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Apex One is an Endpoint Detection and Response or EDR solution, whereas Microsoft Defender for Endpoint has XDR capabilities. Apart from detection, it is also helping in responding to those detections and providing automated responses to those detections. In addition, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is bundled with our subscription. Security is a part of it, so we decided to go for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, but Apex One was our solution for two years. During the COVID time, when we went into a hybrid work environment and people were working from home, it helped us very well during that time.

We implemented Microsoft Defender 365 in its place. When you look at, for example, reporting from all kinds of incidents it seems to be better than what I have seen from Trend Micro.
There was a period of time when the company paid for both Microsoft licenses and Defender and the reason for the transition was to just have the one solution already covered under 365.

We were using another solution for endpoint protection. I do not remember its name, but we switched to Trend Micro within two or three months of my joining this organization.
The most important reason for switching was that the other solution did not have an EDR solution. The price was also more than the Apex One and EDR altogether. We also saw some malware problems, and some of the users also had issues with using their computers. They could not even move the mouse, whereas Apex One does not impact their work. It works in the background.

We previously used CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike is EDR/XDR. CrowdStrike has a very good interface. Trend Micro has two different consoles for XDR and EDR, whereas, with CrowdStrike, it's all one console.
View full review »I have previously used other solutions, such as Kaspersky Endpoint.
Trend Micro Apex One and Kaspersky Endpoint are close to being the same solution. I would rate Kaspersky Endpoint higher than Trend Micro Apex One.
The drawback with Kaspersky Endpoint is if the computer systems are out of the network for a long time and the system comes back online, it takes a long time to synchronize and to receive updates. It updates, but it updates very slow, regardless, of whatever internal bandwidth you have. Even if you have changed the source from the on-premises server to the Kaspersky website to the Kaspersky cloud, it takes time. In Kaspersky Endpoint, some of the hash files are hard to find.
The most valuable feature of Kaspersky is, the moment you install the Net Agent, it immediately starts the inventory. This happens regardless of whether you have a system in your domain or non-domain, it scans your network fully.

We have always been using Trend Micro. We followed them through their evolution from OfficeScan to Office XG to Apex One.
I think with the evolution of Windows 10, and how Microsoft does deployment, it has made using this application a lot more challenging. With the manageability and when Microsoft does an update, we sometimes struggle with the updates because of how they happen.
The result being that Trend will block or pause an update on the Microsoft side and Trend will release the update. We deploy that update but the machine won't get those fixes and doesn't allow the update to happen, so we have to manually troubleshoot the machines, uninstall the app, and do several things to push the Windows update. We have always been playing a game of whack-a-mole with it. This can be extremely frustrating when you have a small IT team.

I have worked with Kaspersky in the past. The setup is very different from what we have now and it is difficult to compare, but I think that Kaspersky is a better product.
In the Kaspersky deployment, the company had a lot of sites and edge-caching was needed to distribute videos.
View full review »We previously used Symantec. I was mainly dealing with the end point, installing, and uninstalling it and solving different issues that were involved or problems that were involved due to the Symantec endpoint client, but besides that, I wasn't managing the system.
The main difference between the two is the heaviness that was edited with Symantec on the endpoint client itself and into the client. The agent is pretty heavy on the resources sometimes, the memory specialists and we feel that with Trend, the product is more light on the station, and doesn't consume a lot of resources. That's I think the main issue.
