Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention Initial Setup

CP
Director at Specsia

The basic setup, like configuring servers or deploying the SaaS platform and agent implementation, is straightforward.

The main challenge arises when implementing and synchronizing policies, or meeting specific customer expectations with Integrated DLP. It varies based on the scenario.

The initial setup is simple and not a significant challenge. However, deploying agents, configuring policies, and making future amendments can become complicated and challenging.

It's primarily on the cloud, about 70%, and for certain DLP requirements, 30% is on-premises.

The product's initial setup phase was easy. When it comes to Trend Micro Apex One agent, agents are already installed. Users only need to ensure that the DLP is plugged into Trend Micro Apex One, after which they can modify the DLP policies and apply all the agents to the tool, after which the solution automatically applies the policy for all those connected to the internal network of the company, including any of the VPN users.

The solution is deployed on the cloud and on an on-premises model.

The initial setup process is simple and straightforward. We don't have difficulties with the process.

The implementation process is fairly quick and takes about three to six months.

It starts with policy formulation. The customer has to come up with a policy or the need to protect and prevent leakage. They need to tag their information properly so that DLP can actually work. After that, then you could find certain rules for monitoring initially. If that goes well, users can start blocking things or putting them into an approval process.

This requires a dedicated DLP admin for a 3,000-person company. More than 3,000 users need about two dedicated admins.

The solution's initial setup process was straightforward. On a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult, and ten is very easy, I rate the solution's initial setup a seven out of ten. It took a year for the solution's deployment process to be completed in our organization. Also, around 400 people were involved in the deployment process. In our organization, we need around ten people to maintain the solution. These ten people take care of the solution's troubleshooting process.
