Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to Ubuntu, I worked with Sun Unix for servers.

I have made the switch to using CentOS primarily because of the interface. It is more lightweight than Ubuntu.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup and installation are easy, and not difficult to complete. It should not take more than 15 minutes to deploy.

What about the implementation team?

Our in-house team of two engineers is responsible for deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Ubuntu Linux is open-source and available to use free of charge.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a good operating system and I recommend it.

I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

Stable, simple, and easy to use

What is our primary use case?

I am using it for the desktop system. I have its latest version.

What is most valuable?

It is stable and quite easy to use as compared to other Linux operating systems. They have created a system like Windows. It is simple and without any problems.

What needs improvement?

When you upgrade the core of this operating system, it can crash. This is the only problem I had. It needs more stable upgrades.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for a few years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For desktop, we don't need it to be scalable. Currently, it is for personal use, and there is only one user.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not used their technical support. Ubuntu probably has a lot of documents, but I never had to read something about it. I have used CentOS for dozens of years, so Ubuntu seems simple to me.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use CentOS for our web servers.

How was the initial setup?

It is very simple. It took less than half an hour.

What about the implementation team?

Usually, I do it by myself, and it is very simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is free.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Ubuntu Linux for other users who want to start using it.

I would rate Ubuntu Linux a 10 out of 10.

Highly stable, easy to install, and scalable

Pros and Cons

  • "The solution is very stable, it does not need to restart to maintain stability."
  • "The solution could improve by being more user-friendly, you need to know how to use the command-line interface which you might not understand."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution as a hosting system, processing machine for my machine learning model, and for running applications.

What needs improvement?

The solution could improve by being more user-friendly, you need to know how to use the command-line interface which you might not understand.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable, it does not need to restart to maintain stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ubuntu Linux is scalable.

We have approximately 25 people using the solution in my organization.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I use Microsoft Windows Server.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is straightforward, it takes less than 10 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

I did the implementation of the solution.

We have a team of five engineers that do the Ubuntu Linux server maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The use of the solution is inexpensive and the hardware it needs to operate can be priced very low. There is not a license for the solution but there is for the hardware.

What other advice do I have?

Ubuntu Linux is the perfect solution for us. If they make the solution more user-friendly it will cost more overall. The current version is best.

I rate Ubuntu Linux a nine out of ten.

A stable solution which is easy to install, but lacks local support and is less user-friendly than Windows

Pros and Cons

  • "The solution is stable."
  • "The solution is not user-friendly in comparison with Windows."

What is our primary use case?

We use the latest version of the solution.

It is useful for running our personal applications.

What needs improvement?

The solution is not user-friendly in comparison with Windows. It should be more so.

We used the technical support of Microsoft Windows, as Ubuntu does not offer any support of its own. It would be nice to see local support.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Ubuntu Linux for eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

How are customer service and support?

Ubuntu does not offer local tech support, thus necessitating that we take advantage of Microsoft Window's.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is easy to install.

What about the implementation team?

The installation can be handled on one's own.

Only a single person is required for the deployment. Specialized skills are not required.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We do not incur a licensing fee for the solution, as we make use of the free version.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Windows is a more user-friendly solution than Ubuntu Linux.

What other advice do I have?

I would not recommend the solution to others, but Windows instead.

We only have 15 users making use of the solution in our organization.

I rate Ubuntu Linux as a seven out of ten.

No licensing fees, easy to install, and stable

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution for running our personal applications and our day-to-day personal use. We install it on our laptops.

What is most valuable?

We can easily customize the NTS Client code. We can customize the code ourselves.

What needs improvement?

Reducing the UA would be very helpful to reduce resource consumption. They need a less resource pack option. Currently, I am using the standard one. The user interface could be improved.

I have been using Ubuntu Linux for three years. We were using the latest version.
