I'm responsible for building and providing container environments, and, therefore, I need to install and configure Kubernetes clusters on Linux operating systems. We use Ubuntu as a base operating system for the Kubernetes cluster and container environments.

It is easy to use, performs great, and is stable and scalable.

I think they need to focus more on securing and hardening Ubuntu's operating system.

The Linux operating system is very traditional, and you need to use specific commands. I think that it can be improved to be more handy.

All operating systems in the world are moving toward simplicity, and Linux distribution should also be focused on simplifying the GUI and command line to provide a better experience for the users.

I've been using Ubuntu and Linux systems for around three years.

I work with simple environments like a laboratory, and it is stable because there are no huge workloads on that server.

In general, I think Ubuntu servers are very stable for providing cloud native applications.

I think that Ubuntu Linux is a scalable solution.

We used Windows Server 2012 and 2016 before switching to Ubuntu Linux.

Installation is very simple and straightforward, but if you want to install more than one server simultaneously, for the Linux distribution, you would need to use an automation server. However, if the Linux community provides specific tools built into Linux like, for example, WDS Microsoft, then you will be able to simultaneously install multiple Linux operating systems on multiple servers.

In comparison to Red Hat, I think Ubuntu offers more security, scalability, and better performance, as well as better GUI and administration.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Ubuntu Linux at eight. 

We use the product for end-user applications and site management across workstations and servers within our environment.

Ubuntu Linux's most valuable feature is its open-source nature.

There is room for improvement, particularly in the GUI aspect of the product. We encounter issues while accessing GUI compared to Red Hat or CentOS. The simulation tools could be easy to use and facilitate efficient integration with remediation tools similar to Duo on CentOs.

We have been using Ubuntu Linux for six or seven years.

The stability is better than that of other open-source platforms.

We used Red Hat before.

The initial setup is easy.

I recommend user-friendly options like Ubuntu or CentOS for those venturing into Linux for the first time. They provide easier configurations as well. They should also explore Rocky Linux, a free and open-source distribution similar to CentOS. They have a good open-source community. However, sometimes, it isn't easy to find resolutions. This particular area needs improvement.

I rate the product a seven out of ten.

I support a group that works with artificial intelligence. I install the machines for them and they do the customization. Some use Python, some use Java, some use other languages. They install their own IDs, their own products, their own systems and I deal with the operating system and support it. I'm a lead Linux administrator.

This is an excellent solution, it's stable, fast and free. From an admin perspective, we don't have issues. The solution is complete. 

For the beginner who might not be very comfortable with the tool, it can be frustrating. Like with any new solution, it's complex in the beginning. The solution has limited application support compared with Windows and MacOS. It's not an issue with the system itself, it's the choice of the company that makes the software. It's a marketing decision made by the manufacturer. Most games I run are designed to be run for Microsoft Windows. It doesn't run many softwares that we have online. You don't have many games on Linux, but Linux is not the problem, it's a choice the developer has made. 

I've been using this solution for 16 years. 

The solution is stable, no bugs or glitches. 

The scalability is pretty good. I have around 50 users for the team that I help and have no complaints.

Ubuntu has a lot of resources, either online or books, and there's a huge community that helps users to get through most of the problems they're going to come across. It's hard to find anything negative about this product.

The initial setup is quite straightforward. You download the software, copy to a USB flash drive, install, finish and that's it.

If it's something that people are thinking about using, it's pretty straightforward. You don't have to worry about anything. If you're transitioning from something, run a lab, have a proof of concept.

 I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10. 

We are at a University and use this solution for teaching and research.

The most valuable features are that it's free and that it is simple to use.

It could be easier for beginners and the user interface could be more user-friendly.

I have been using Ubuntu Linux since it's existence, which has been approximately 20 years.

This solution is stable. We use it on our laptops and we deploy it in our virtual machines. We are pleased with it.

We plan to keep using this product.

This is a scalable operating system.

We have approximately 2,000 students and teachers using it.

The technical support is quite good. It's a large community with many tutorials and books available.

Previously, we had used many other operating systems such as CentOS, SUSE Linux, and a few other operating systems based on Linux.

The initial setup is straightforward.

It only took a few minutes to install.

We did not use an integrator or vendor team. We have a team of 10 technicians who can help if someone doesn't know how to install it. Most users can install it themselves.

It's an open-source solution that can be used free of charge.

Ubuntu and Linux, in general, are very common operating systems. Many people have knowledge of it. There is a large community of people who can tell you what is needed and tell you about the bugs it may have. They can contribute because it is open source.

It is a good product and one that I recommend.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

We have 250 to 300 users in our organization working with Ubuntu, including about 50 engineers.

Ubuntu is quite flexible. It is a direct software, where we can work directly on its OS. It works to its maximum capacity. Windows needs a refresh option to refresh its screen, but Ubuntu doesn't need that. It refreshes automatically and works well.

But it could be better for working with software at a high resolution. 

I've been using Ubuntu for about a year.

Ubuntu is stable. 

I would rate Ubuntu an eight out of 10. It could be easier to learn and have better documentation. With Windows, it is quite easy to learn from a particular guide or manual. 

We are using Ubuntu Linux for many purposes, such as running applications for our server.

The solution is more secure than competitors such as Microsoft Windows.

The solution could improve by being more user-friendly.

I have found Ubuntu Linux to be stable.

There are some costs on offer that could be lower.

The learning curve is quite high for non-technical users. Therefore, it's not a suitable solution for a general office environment.

I've been using the solution for five years. It's been a while, although I don't use it too much.

The stability is very good. We have found that there aren't any bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

The solution is quite scalable. If you need to expand it, you can do so as a company. 

It's the base of our data platform. 70,000 people are using it. The IT team alone is 5,000 to 6,000 people. 

I've never dealt with technical support directly. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they are, as I have never called them for assistance.

We have two major operating systems: Microsoft and Linux. 

The solution is quite straightforward and easy to install. It's not too complex or difficult. However, I cannot speak to how long it takes to deploy.

The solution is open-source. I'm not sure if we pay for any licensing or services and if we do, I am not sure of the exact costs. It's not a part of my responsibilities.  

We use both cloud and on-premises deployment methods. 

I'm not sure which specific versions we are using and if they are the latest or not. 

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We've been quite satisfied with the product so far. It's been great.

I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies. I wouldn't recommend it if you were deploying it as an office environment, however, for the data platform, it's perfect.

I use this solution on my desktop.

The most valuable feature is the user interface. The user experience is really good.

On the gaming side, things are happening but there are some games that should be ported to Ubuntu. Gamers generally don't adopt Linux, and the choice is normally Windows.

The stability of this solution is ok. The previous version of this solution had some glitches. When I locked the system, I would come back and it would not unlock. I had to remotely log in and kill something before it would unlock. After the update it was ok.

I haven't used Ubuntu as a server operating system. Obviously, Linux is scalable because we have been using Red Hat and other distributions, but with respect to Ubuntu, I haven't used it on the server side very much.

I have never contacted technical support.

We do not use Ubuntu Linux in our production environment. For production, we use Red Hat and similar ones, such as Oracle Enterprise Linux. On the server-side, we haven't introduced Ubuntu yet.

With Ubuntu, I think the recent versions have pretty much everything in place. Some other operating systems may not take all of the hardware devices and drivers, but here it picks up most of the things, so I don't see anything wrong in there. The user experience is good, the interface is good. It's all good.

Being a desktop user, I can say that using this solution on a desktop is a very good choice. Ubuntu also supports a cloud-based installation, so it should be a good choice there as well.
