Saves time, makes it easy to build automations, and speed up digital transformation
Pros and Cons
  • "I find the solution easier to use than other platforms and it's a user-friendly way to automate."
  • "They need to work on security."

What is our primary use case?

I find the solution easier to use than other platforms and it's a user-friendly way to automate.

What is most valuable?

I work with Excel files, and I find it helps make it easier to work with the files.

The ease of building automation is okay. I just use the community version, however, I have found it's much better than others. Their community version is more user-friendly than many options. I really appreciate the useability of document processing. I mostly use the solution for document processing and invoice comparisons. It's simple.

I've used the user community and have been in touch with one person who was very helpful. They've helped guide me. I've gotten positive responses and good answers. It's helped me learn how to do comparisons between two Excel files, for example.

I've enrolled in UiPath Academy courses. I've also enrolled in Coursera courses. I'm still in the learning process. They have good tutorials.

I've used some of the AI processes. It is very efficient to use the AI functionality. We've gotten very good responses and results so far. We have found the responses we're getting are good. It helps with creating more efficiencies.

It has helped speed up digital transformation.

UiPath has helped to reduce human error. We're able to build effective automation. We're creating software boards where the bot will do what we say and pull what we are trying to pull.

The solution does help us save time.

I'm still learning the solution; it has yet to help me save money.

What needs improvement?

I'm not sure how UiPath is at data scanning. I need to look into this further.

They need to work on security.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used the solution for about one month.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't faced any stability difficulties, at least on the community version.

How are customer service and support?

I've never contacted technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used Power Automate and ElectroNeek. I found there were a lot of issues with ElectroNeek and Power Automate. For example, they are not good with ChatGPT or data scraping. They are also not as user-friendly.

How was the initial setup?

The solution was very easy to set up.

The implementation took only ten to 15 minutes. It was my first attempt to set it up. Aside from an internet issue, I had no problems.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the initial setup myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't have any insights into the pricing of the solution. I'm using the community version. If I like it, I will buy the paid version.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an RPA developer who started working with the solution. I recently worked with Power Automate. I'm familiar with the UiPath community version. I'm not extremely familiar with UiPath as I haven't used it for very long.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten - at least, for the community version.

Our organization needs fewer human resources, saving costs
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is its screen recording capability, where you tell it what the workflow should do, and it then automatically creates Activities for you."
  • "They need to keep fixing the bugs and improving the tool. For example, if an Excel file is running and I'm doing an automation on that Excel file, it doesn't complete. There are some bugs, and fixes and improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

The way I'm using UiPath is to create workflows related to financial services. I work for a company called Cedar Financial here in Pakistan. The workflows are related to our data statements, clients' financial documents, and the like. It mostly involves Document Understanding and creating workflows to generate reports. My use cases are restricted to UiPath Studio, where I use the Activities to create workflows and automate some of my clients' work.

How has it helped my organization?

It's very cool to be able to create automations and reduce human effort. It really is a valuable and great tool to be working with. It has improved things immensely because our organization needs fewer human resources. In one department, 40 percent of the time has been freed up for other tasks. The work the bots do is more efficient and reliable. UiPath has reduced human error, which has had great effects: better results and better revenue. It has saved us about 40 percent of our costs.

Another important benefit is that UiPath enables you to implement end-to-end automation. Humans don't have to do repetitive, boring tasks.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is its screen recording capability, where you tell it what the workflow should do, and it then automatically creates Activities for you.

It's easy to build automations with UiPath help. I have also been a Python developer, and there you need to do hard coding to create an automation. But when you're dealing with UiPath Studio, you have all the modules. You just need to know what to do and which Activities you can use. You get everything right, and the automation is ready for you. You don't need to do hard coding.

And UiPath's user community has been great for me. Every time I'm stuck somewhere, there's always a forum to ask questions and share my knowledge as well. There have been a few main developers, like Michael Jensen and a few others, whom I follow and really admire their work.

What needs improvement?

They need to keep fixing the bugs and improving the tool. For example, if an Excel file is running and I'm doing an automation on that Excel file, it doesn't complete. There are some bugs, and fixes and improvements are required.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I used Python and its multiple libraries and frameworks to do automation with Selenium and Beautiful Soup. We switched to UiPath because you don't need to do hard coding with it. You have more functionality. You just need to know what to do and keep on importing those activities. Create the workflow, and the automation is almost done.

What was our ROI?

UiPath is always a good investment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have tried Microsoft Power Automate, but UiPath has a lot of Activities and is easy to use.

What other advice do I have?

The UiPath Academy is where everyone starts. I started there and took courses such as the RPA Developer Foundation course, and I still take courses from the Academy. It's very beneficial.

When you have RPA developers, they sometimes require IT support. The application team is also important in this.

The time it takes to implement a solution with UiPath depends on the problem and the workflow. Some might take 30 days, while others might take just one day. It does require some maintenance at times. There may be updates, or an error might appear. We have to provide support as well.

From a company point of view, it didn't take long to identify how beneficial UiPath could be. Every industry these days needs automation tools. If an employee generates the same report every single day, we can build a robot to do that.

It's a good and handy tool to use. Try it, and it will help you greatly boost your business. And your employees will be happy as well when their time is saved. Go for it.

Easier to set up than other tools, provides flexibility, and reduces the overall turnaround time for repetitive tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "What I found most valuable in UiPath is that it's easier to set up than other tools. It also helps reduce human error and is a scalable solution."
  • "Governing components in the solution, such as the Orchestrator, and configuring the robots should be easier. The vendor should also come up with more offerings or features involving AI."

What is our primary use case?

Currently, I'm working with the regular UiPath, but in the past, I've worked with UiPath for healthcare use cases.

My use cases for UiPath vary. I've worked with the banking, renewable energy, marketing, and publishing domains. The most recent use case was for data entry, where my company used SAP applications to create orders for the vendor.

My company also uses UiPath to automate processes that deal with courses, such as environmental, employee diversity, sustainable production, etc.

UiPath is set up in my current organization. My organization takes advantage of the vendor's offer for end users to build smaller automation, which is another use case of UiPath.

How has it helped my organization?

Automation through UiPath has improved the quality of work in my organization. Using UiPath helped reduce the overall turnaround time for repetitive tasks. Each staff member can devote time to new tasks or other tasks rather than spending so much time on repetitive tasks.

Implementing end-to-end automation through the solution is essential to the organization because it's cost-effective and time-saving. It also helps boost employee productivity because employees now have the time to learn new things, such as the trends in the market, rather than doing many repetitive tasks that give little value. All these make UiPath beneficial to my organization.

What is most valuable?

What I found most valuable in UiPath is that it's easier to set up than other tools. UiPath, as a vendor, also provides flexibility, which most companies find attractive in the solution.

I would rate the ease of building automation using UiPath as seven out of ten. The gap in my rating would be eventually filled as my company starts using more AI-based solutions. Overall, building automation is relatively easy in the solution.

UiPath enabled my company to implement end-to-end automation. You cannot automate all jobs or tasks, but the solution does at some level, so I like that it provides further flexibility to automate end-to-end.

As for the UiPath user community and its value to users, that community is vast and provides a lot of learning. Users reach out to the community for any questions or doubts about full development, for example, or anything you want to learn in UiPath. The community also has a morale booster for users through the yearly Community MVP.

UiPath helps minimize our on-premises footprint, though it doesn't matter much to me.

I've taken UiPath Academy courses, and I found UiPath Academy beneficial. Back in 2018, when I just started learning from the UiPath Academy, it gave me everything I needed to start using the solution. Later on, I learned advanced development and, just recently, solution architecture, from which I received a certificate. UiPath Academy also gives me information on the latest updates and trends coming from the vendor.

I'm also working with the AI functionality for automation via UiPath, which affects the ability to automate complex processes. Suppose we have a document, in particular, handwritten. In the traditional way of automation, my bot can't read or understand what's written on that piece of paper. Still, with UiPath, you can select any of these features: Document Understanding, Breakpoints, or Automation. The solution's features give my company flexibility and help extend its reach. Previously, my company thought the use cases weren't feasible because my bot couldn't read or understand handwritten text or characters. Still, with UiPath, it is possible to make life easier, especially with the new advances.

As for the solution's AI functionality enabling the company to automate more processes, my team has not used UiPath in many use cases that require AI, but in the future, when more cases come up, my company will be able to use UiPath more, and it will be beneficial.

I also like that the solution speeds up digital transformation and reduces the cost of the digital transformation. It also doesn't require expensive or complex application upgrades and IT application support. To elaborate further, suppose I'm automating something. I know the application will be upgraded in the next six months; I won't be automating that through my tool because I know it'll be automatically upgraded in six months. I just need to record my use case involving the website or whichever application.

I also found that UiPath helps reduce human error. A human can make mistakes, but your machine won't if you teach it correctly or give it the instruction properly. If you properly provide your machine with data, it won't make a mistake.

UiPath also helps the organization save money overall.

What needs improvement?

I'd say UiPath is on the right track now, but I feel some aspects should improve a bit, and the vendor could be working on the aspects in my head right now. Governing components in the solution, such as the Orchestrator, and configuring the robots should be easier. I also feel that the vendor should come up with more offerings or features involving AI.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with UiPath for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I didn't experience stability issues with UiPath in my current company, but I did in my previous company, where UiPath was down for some time.

On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest in stability, I'm giving UiPath an eight.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

My company purchased a plan where the vendor provides some support throughout the year on whatever UiPath issues the company faces. Getting support is easy, and the team is quite helpful.

I'd rate support an eight out of ten. It's not a perfect ten because the overall turnaround time to solve issues could be improved.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've worked with other RPA solutions, such as Pega, Power Automate, and Blue Prism, before working with UiPath.

Pega is a legacy solution, so I'm setting it aside. UiPath is far better than Blue Prism. On the other hand, Power Automate is the real competitor of UiPath because it has similar functionalities with the new web apps in UiPath, but UiPath is more lightweight and requires less coding.

How was the initial setup?

I found UiPath simple to set up. The process was very straightforward. As long as I have complete resources and information, I can get it ready in about two hours.

What about the implementation team?

My company implemented UiPath via our in-house team.

What was our ROI?

I've seen some ROI from UiPath.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

UiPath has a very costly AI automation license compared to Power Automate. After discounts, it costs around fifteen thousand euros, while Power Automate gives you the same features for only a thousand euros, so there's a huge difference in the licensing costs. Pricing for UiPath isn't very competitive.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a solution architect who does UiPath consultancy.

UiPath is currently deployed on-premises and on the cloud, so it is a hybrid environment.

One admin is enough to deploy the solution, provided the developer and the responsible teams provide the admin with all the resources. UiPath can be deployed through a single resource only.

The solution only requires a little maintenance to keep it up and running. A more significant challenge only occurs if you have to migrate from one version to another; otherwise, maintaining UiPath is very straightforward.

In my company, UiPath is deployed across the globe in multiple countries.

I'd advise others looking into implementing UiPath that it is the best tool to automate repetitive tasks. Whether to use UiPath on the cloud or on-premises depends on your environment. For just a few use cases that you want to automate, go cloud-based, but if you have more than ten use cases, I suggest you go on-prem.

I'd rate UiPath an eight out of ten as a solution.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of UiPath is the speed of the implementation."
  • "On the investment side, it is a huge investment, especially with the current situation in Sri Lanka. If they can reduce the price or provide affordable packages, it will be very helpful."

What is our primary use case?

I work for a software solution company, and its use cases are related to HR products.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation. We also tried a few payroll automations as a part of our software solution, and it worked perfectly. All the features, UI elements, and processes work well. It is very good. We were able to automate about 80% of the tasks or processes by using UiPath. It is a great platform for automation.

UiPath has reduced human error. It has reduced time for a task. We were able to reduce 80% of a task. We have automated 80% of the task using UiPath, and we were able to save six hours per user for one project.

UiPath frees up the employee time. After we have the software in place, we can see where we can speed up our processes. If a process can be completed in less duration, that also saves the time of the employee. So, it is a journey. You need to keep identifying the processes to improve. The time savings vary based on the process. For example, we use RPA for the HR payroll, and for 200 employees, we were able to save 6 hours. The savings will be more when you have more people.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of UiPath is the speed of the implementation. They are continuously adding new features, and there is also fast deployment. It is easy to use. Before going for the enterprise license, we evaluated the capability to automate certain processes and get the outcome that we expected. UiPath has so many advantages, but we struggle in terms of investment and price.

I have used the UiPath Academy for business analyst certification. It is very helpful to understand the tools and features to meet any requirements. You get to learn what are the things that you have to follow. From the business analysts' side, you get to know how to identify the processes where automation can be used. You can identify the automation capabilities. UiPath Academy nicely guides people who are new to RPA. There are so many things to learn on the RPA side. The developers can identify the gaps and learn how to automate quickly and learn new skills. UiPath Academy helps people to understand automation from start to end.

What needs improvement?

On the investment side, it is a huge investment, especially with the current situation in Sri Lanka. If they can reduce the price or provide affordable packages, it will be very helpful.

On the development side, there are already so many new capabilities. They are also adding more AI capabilities. I have seen some of the users using AI tools, but I have not worked on them much.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using UiPath for the past two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Its stability is nice. We get regular updates throughout the year, and we have to install those updates, which is not a huge thing for us. We have not had any issues with that. I would rate it a nine out of ten in terms of stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. I would rate it a nine out of ten in terms of scalability.

We use automation in different departments, and we are also planning to deploy some RPA use cases in the client environment. Currently, we have 280 users using payroll automation.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support team from the reseller has been very engaged with the RPA effort. They have helped us with the cons and pros and to identify the capabilities of UiPath using the UiPath community version. They helped us a lot with our RPA journey.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have worked with Automation Anywhere and UiPath, and I am now also using Power Automate. I used Automation Anywhere at my previous workplace, and at my current workplace, we have been using UiPath, but we are now also using Power Automate. We were using IQ Bot to identify invoices and process those invoices for the finance team. We have been using UiPath for HR and payroll automation.

In terms of ROI and investment, in Asian countries, such as Sri Lanka, we are unable to get a huge return on investment because of the price. We were looking for a solution with less investment and getting more automation, so we picked Power Automate for automation.

How was the initial setup?

I was working as a project manager and consultant. I was involved in gathering requirements in detail and creating the processes. I acted as a bridge between the development team and business owners.

It was a straightforward process. We took two days to set up the process. In terms of the implementation strategy, we identified the use cases for automation. Business owners were responsible for coming up with the use cases and identifying the feasibility and the return on investment for using RPA. We went through each project brought to the table and identified some of the critical scenarios.

What about the implementation team?

In my previous company, we got consultants from Automation Anywhere because that was the first time we were using RPA in our company. It was 2017 or 2018. They helped us in identifying processes, gathering details, and selecting processes for RPA. They were very helpful. Their developers also helped us debug the processes and improve the speed of the processes. They helped to identify the gaps in automation flow and enhance it.

From the development side, there were two developers and a project lead. There were also two subject matter experts or business owners, so altogether, there were five people.

For maintenance, one person is enough.

What was our ROI?

UiPath could not save us money because the cost of the bot license and the Studio license is high. For Asian countries, such as Sri Lanka, it is a huge amount.

We have been using the community version to identify the automation capabilities. We are also trying to sell the RPM modules to our clients who use our payroll process. When it came to purchasing, there was a huge difference in the price of Automation Anywhere and UiPath as compared to Power Automate, so we went for Power Automate.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is expensive for our country. Other than that, we do not have any issues with UiPath.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Most companies evaluate Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Power Automate. Development speed, user-friendliness, and price are some of the factors that companies look at while evaluating a solution. UiPath helps with fast development, and it is user-friendly. There is also a community version to understand its capabilities before purchasing the license.

Both Automation Anywhere and UiPath require a big investment. Companies based in European countries get a good return on investment, but most companies based in Sri Lanka do not get a good return on investment because the cost is very high.

What other advice do I have?

To those who want to use UiPath, I would advise understanding what digitization is and how RPA can help with their digitalization journey. Before using RPA, they have to standardize their processes in terms of the process flow. We encourage people to identify those gaps before using RPA. They should also select processes that provide a good return on investment. They can use the community version of UiPath to identify the processes.

Overall, I would rate UiPath a nine out of ten.

Can be integrated with multiple apps like Excel and ChatGPT
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is UiPath's integration with the AI chatbot for automating customer service in our web applications. We directly integrate ChatGPT to talk to the customer because it performs better than our old Python-based chatbot, which was really slow."
  • "Task management is complex and difficult for new users. They should simplify the interface for new users. There are lots of flow charts and automation things in task management, so I would suggest streamlining it."

What is our primary use case?

We are a gaming company using UiPath to automate some development-related tasks. We integrate the API keys provided by UiPath into our app to extract user data that helps us improve our apps and games. We also use the UiPath application-building solution for Android or web app development.

How has it helped my organization?

Implementing UiPath has enhanced our workflow while reducing time spent on manual tasks, such as talking to customers or collecting user data manually. It provides a fast way to communicate with our clients and obtain data, saving a ton of time. We can reduce the number of team members because most things are managed by the AI.

The AI functionality has been useful for us. UiPath can be integrated with multiple apps like Excel and ChatGPT, so it provides an efficient solution. The AI ability enables us to automate more tasks, and we get feedback on things we should improve. It was previously a manual task to compile all the change requests from our users, but the AI speeds up the process.

UiPath has reduced the costs of our digital transformation because our project requires a lot of integration with web services. This used to cost us a lot of money because we had to pay for cloud services and domain names, but UiPath's API key allows us to integrate our games and applications directly.

The solution has reduced human error because we've automated some tasks that were formerly performed by team members. The tooling has been standardized, and we update it based on our current projects. The task-mining feature in UiPath enables error-free communication with other users in our application.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is UiPath's integration with the AI chatbot for automating customer service in our web applications. We directly integrate ChatGPT to talk to the customer because it performs better than our old Python-based chatbot, which was really slow. ChatGPT has lots of parameters, so we can communicate efficiently with our clients. It's easy to build automations in UiPath using the no-code drag-and-drop interface.

What needs improvement?

Task management is complex and difficult for new users. They should simplify the interface for new users. There are lots of flow charts and automation things in task management, so I would suggest streamlining it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used UiPath for four months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath has been stable in the past four or five months that I've been using it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I consider UiPath highly scalable. They're constantly adding features, and it's always great to see a solution that stays up to date.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support eight out of 10. We contacted them a few times because we discovered some bugs while implementing our web applications. Their support team was helpful and fast.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used TXT. Me for our chatbot use cases, but now we use ChatGPT integrated with UiPath.

How was the initial setup?

UiPath's initial setup is straightforward and can be completed with a few clicks. Anyone can do it. We did it all in-house. It is easy to deploy everything in the UiPath solution. It only required two teammates to deploy. The UiPath solution doesn't require any kind of maintenance on our side, but we need to update our bots and apps when new features come out.

What was our ROI?

UiPath has enabled us to reduce the size of our team, saving us some money. The integration is easy. We are also seeing more positive reviews from our users, and our web application is running faster.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

UiPath is a little expensive compared to other solutions I've seen on the market, but you can try it for free for 60 days. It may be too pricey for startups and small businesses, but it will ultimately save your company money, so it's a worthwhile investment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked around but couldn't find a competing product that offers so many features in one app.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath nine out of 10. The solution provides a lot of value by offering features that competing solutions don't have. It has the latest features like ChatGPT integration and broad app support.

The UI path is somewhat complex, so you should watch their videos. Their own website has tutorial videos that can teach you about the features. There are short videos and also webinars you can attend that explain the latest features to new users.

It saves time, is reliable, and is easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The UiPath Community is truly helpful."
  • "The pricing in our region has the potential for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We are a partner of UiPath, and we utilize their solution for welfare unions and document understanding.

How has it helped my organization?

Building automation using UiPath is straightforward. I would rate the ease of building automation an eight out of ten.

UiPath enables end-to-end automation, which is essential to our organization because it saves time, is reliable, and is easy to use. Although it is somewhat expensive, it is worth the investment in the long run.

Being a part of the UiPath User Community helps us deal with various tasks. We can share our experiences with the members of the group and learn from the experiences of other members of the community.

Some of the benefits our clients have noted about UiPath are the speed and the reduction in operations at the end of the day. Our clients were able to achieve their goals quickly by using UiPath and witnessing a return on investment.

The introductory course of UiPath Acadamy is good.

UiPath accelerates digital transformation and reduces its associated costs. Initially, implementing such transformations may necessitate expensive upgrades. However, once the setup is complete, operations can run smoothly. Typically, when a company begins contemplating digital transformation, they often find themselves in a technologically outdated state. As a result, a comprehensive update of their systems becomes imperative, incurring significant costs.

UiPath helps reduce human error. It is highly beneficial to automate certain human tasks and mitigate the potential for errors.

It has freed up approximately 50 percent of our employees' time.

UiPath has saved approximately 20 percent of our organization's costs.

What is most valuable?

The UiPath Community is truly helpful.

Although we have to pay for the extra features that UiPath offers, they are extremely useful.

What needs improvement?

The introductory courses of UiPath Academy are adequate, but there is room for improvement. I understand that creating an automated course for everyone is not an easy task. After completing these courses, we are capable of performing simple tasks. However, if we truly want to learn, for example, Java, we must conduct further research on our own. The Academy courses should provide more challenging content.

The pricing in our region has the potential for improvement. The price is the same throughout Europe, despite the varying economies in each country, which poses challenges for all the partners involved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of UiPath as a perfect ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate UiPath's scalability as a perfect ten out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Blue Prism but switched to UiPath to meet client requirements. Personally, I prefer UiPath.

What was our ROI?

As a partner, we experience a return on investment because we bear the cost of the solution, and subsequently provide the services. The client pays for both the services rendered and a portion of the licensing fee. For us, the benefit is clear, but as a lean benefit, compared to the really expensive fee that we have to charge the clients to have a margin.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is high. On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest, I would rate the price as an eight out of ten.

We also have to pay extra if we want Studio, Document Understanding, even if APIs are not going to be used for text recognition, or Insight. Insight is really expensive and doesn't offer anything new other than Elasticsearch and Kibana, which are free tools. The message we have received from UiPath is that they are the leader in the market, and we have to pay for that.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Appian, and a few others before selecting UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

I give UiPath an eight out of ten.

I recommend that new users first take the Academy courses before transitioning to the UiPath Community version. It is advisable to learn all the basics thoroughly, without assuming any prior knowledge, and to exercise patience.

I have learned that using a machine is better than I am.

We can complete tasks faster and reduce our backlog, which keeps our stakeholders happy
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface is intuitive and easy to understand. This automation increases the ease of operation for the employees."
  • "Building automations can be a little complicated. There are so many variables and commands. We're also trying to integrate new technology like ChatGPT. Although ChatGPT has many APIs, they're not sufficiently integrated. If UiPath could add more API integration and tutorials in the academy, it would help us utilize them more effectively."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath to automate activities that are typically done on a computer by an individual. It's used to automate purchases involving a large volume of transactions for hundreds of organizations.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has improved customer confidence and helped us cut costs. We can complete tasks faster and reduce our backlog. A fast turnaround time keeps our stakeholders happy. It also improves accuracy. We can customize and optimize the processes.

Before UiPath, we had a five-person team. It took them each around six hours to complete 200 tasks. We cut that down to one hour by implementing automation, so it took only five employee hours to do the same amount of work that formerly required 30. It also saves energy consumption because the same result can be completed in far less time, so the employee's computer isn't running continuously.

We can reduce our on-prem footprint because we can store our data in the cloud and use UiPath to automate cloud-based data solutions. The cloud is more accessible, and various tools can access the cloud database, whether you're using a mobile phone or desktop.

The UiPath Academy helped prepare our team to use the program. The introductory course taught them everything they needed to know to start working. UiPath also has a huge community that has been helpful when we have issues. Most of our questions have already been answered.

We've used some of the AI features. For example, machine learning is built into the document understanding system. We're working on integrating ChatGPT, but that's not mature yet. APIs are available, but we are still not integrated. The ChatGPT APIs can make our automation more complete and compliant.

We can do complex automations with UiPath. For example, we can automate processes that need to be authenticated to run and integrate processes with the AI engine. UiPath didn't require any upgrades. We could run it on our existing infrastructure.

What is most valuable?

The user interface is intuitive and easy to understand. This automation increases the ease of operation for the employees.

What needs improvement?

Building automations can be a little complicated. There are so many variables and commands. We're also trying to integrate new technology like ChatGPT. Although ChatGPT has many APIs, they're not sufficiently integrated. If UiPath could add more API integration and tutorials in the academy, it would help us utilize them more effectively.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have used UiPath for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is stable, but it's crucial to understand new features when upgrades are released. Updates can cause problems because sometimes we don't know how to use the new features.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support nine out of 10. We don't typically require support because we can usually get all the answers from the UiPath community.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also tried Automation Anywhere. It has a more user-friendly and attractive interface. UiPath has more features, a larger user community, and is more capable of handling integrated processes. I think Automation Anywhere is a better fit for small businesses and startups.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment was straightforward. We purchased the license, downloaded the software, and installed it, then we programmed our bots. The deployment can be completed by one person in two days.

The software is on-prem, but the data is stored in the cloud. The solution is installed on a server that multiple people can use. Regarding maintenance, there are only routine updates. The bots themselves need to be maintained, monitored for performance, and optimized. Sometimes you need to modify them when we have additional requirements.

What was our ROI?

The ROI is excellent because you can significantly reduce your staff's working hours. You'll start to see a return after one or two years.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Large enterprises can negotiate a better price, but UiPath is comparable to Automation Anywhere if you're a small company. Automation Anywhere is affordable for small integrations. There are various kinds of licenses, and the return for a small company could be positive. Still, the architecture and usage-based licenses are costly. As the volume increases, it may become unaffordable for smaller businesses.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath nine out of 10. It's a great solution, but it isn't easy to use, and you need to learn a lot. I recommend taking advantage of the free courses and other resources available.

We have automated multiple processes for a client, saving them significant time every month
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature that I like the most is the Document Understanding for extracting information from PDFs."
  • "The main disadvantage that I have identified in the Document Understanding is in table extraction. If the table size is large and goes to the next page, we are unable to extract it with Document Understanding. I hear that there is a solution for that but I have to find it."

What is our primary use case?

We have done a lot of things with UiPath for different customers. I have done Java application automation and PDF automations. We use it for all kinds of automation. For example, for one client, we're working on invoice processing, supply-chain automation, and their technical services.

How has it helped my organization?

Going with automation is really helpful for our customers, saving them time which they can use for other processes.

For example, I'm working for a customer that has 16 different processes to deal with. For every customer, they had to spend at least three days a month to process everything. The bot is processing everything in three hours and our customer doesn't need to monitor it. They are saving many hours for every customer every month. Automation is saving them around 2,000 hours per year.

UiPath is helping us to implement end-to-end automation in many cases and in many ways. We have implemented a lot of ERP automation and we are now working on SAP auto-creation for supply chain and invoice posting, processing, and payment clearance.

It is also helping our clients to speed up digital transformation a lot. They're coming to us with more processes.

What is most valuable?

The feature that I like the most is the Document Understanding for extracting information from PDFs. I also really like the human-in-the-loop concept.

What needs improvement?

The main disadvantage that I have identified in the Document Understanding is in table extraction. If the table size is large and goes to the next page, we are unable to extract it with Document Understanding. I hear that there is a solution for that but I have to find it.

There are other extraction features that Document Understanding doesn't have and clients go for ABBYY Vantage or Google document AI and it becomes expensive for them because they have to purchase a UiPath license and the other solution's license.

With the competition in the market, they have to improve. They can't settle and say, "We are at the top." They have to improve invoice processing, that is the most important thing, and that's where Document Understanding comes in. We need to get to the point where a customer does not look at any other OCR engines. They have to improve Document Understanding for invoice processing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for the last three and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable product.

How are customer service and support?

UiPath support is very good. I don't think we have raised a technical support question, only deployment support. My experience with the UiPath team is that they have been really helpful. They have connected with me within a short time and have done a lot for me. I irritated them a lot, but they still did a lot for me.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The setup of UiPath is easy. Two months back, we did a server migration where we not only migrated the unattended and attended bots, but the whole Orchestrator setup. We moved everything and we did it within seven days. We had some queries and raised a couple of tickets, and the guys connected with us even after 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM. They stayed with us and helped us complete it. The server migration itself was easy for us, with three years of development experience, even though we had never done anything regarding server migration.

The initial setup itself takes about two hours. In the last three months, we have done that for a number of customers. Depending on one's experience the setup can be done by one person. I do it myself.

Deployment of bots is easier than that. You set up an attended bot and publish it to Orchestrator and it will work. It is very easy. Even if you Google it, you can easily find information on it.

For me, with three years' experience, it's very easy. For a newcomer, like someone with only three months' experience, it will be a little harder because he will need to do some research but everything is available on Google. And even if he doesn't find what he needs there, he can raise a request and the guys will be very helpful. They'll connect with him within eight hours and they'll fix it.

What was our ROI?

The ROI depends on the complexity of the process that a client identifies for automation. The license costs around $10,000 per year, although I'm not very sure about that number. People are buying the license but they're not completely automating everything. They have to identify where they're struggling and give that to a bot. They need to use unattended bots on a 24-hour basis. When they utilize it all 24 hours, it is helpful. If they're going for only one or two bots, the return on investment will definitely be less.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In India, where I am from, UiPath is expensive. But customers in other regions, like Europe or the US, will not find it so expensive.

Every time we have a proposal call with a client regarding UiPath, most of our Indian customers are not okay with the cost. They can't afford it. They want alternatives, but they still often end up with UiPath because of the efficiency.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I haven't used any other solution, but I have explored Power Automate. I also opened Automation Anywhere and attended one class for it and I decided I'm not going to go to Automation Anywhere. You can't compare anything with UiPath. UiPath is the top.

What other advice do I have?

It is the customers who have to identify the things that they can automate. We have to promote our tools and RPA capabilities and when they understand these things they can come back to us and use us for what they need. Most customers don't know what automation and an RPA automation bot are. But when I do my first bot and show a demo, they understand: "Oh, this is how it works." And then they come up with more processes for us to work on.

Regarding UiPath Academy courses, I have done some but I haven't had a chance to do the paid certification course because I'm continually working on projects. I did a couple of basic RPA developer courses and then the SAP, Document Understanding, and Action Center courses. I haven't had a chance to explore the new features there.

To use UiPath there are no coding requirements, like knowledge of Python, but you need to have good problem-solving skills. You need to understand loops, flowcharts, and how to develop conditional actions.
