I did not install the solution personally. My understanding is that you just use the Wizard to install it.

The deployment happened in just one week.

The initial setup was straightforward, but as I had been using it for a few years, I became very familiar with the application and could easily navigate it. Setting it up, including the installation and configuring the initial repository, was simpler than any other backup software I had used before.

The initial setup was very straightforward. The Veeam Backup and Replication Suite is very user-friendly. It's not like EMC NetWorker, where you have to go to the console and then do a lot of things. For Veeam, I have one single thing. There's a single management console and I can do everything from there.

I handle the maintenance of this solution myself. With the Veeam one-monitoring solution, if my load balancer fails, my repositories have problems, the storage space is getting low, or there is a warning on the backup, then the Veeam monitor will send me an email. These types of issues can be resolved by a single system administrator.

If we install it in Linux, Mac, or Windows, it's the same. There's no additional something we need to do if we install it in Linux. However, when we install it in Linux, we use the command line. It's simple. We directly discover it from the portal and then click on the portal button, and we directly install it to the client.

It's very straightforward to set up. There isn't really any complexity.

It takes 15 to 20 minutes to install.

The initial setup was really straightforward and easy. Veeam solutions, in general, are really easy to configure and deploy and they have amazing after-sales support. Veeam can be a nightmare, however, when people are trying to size and design a solution. It's not exactly a nightmare, but it's the phase that is really important and everybody puts an emphasis on. So long as that phase is done correctly, everything should be good to go. Basically, make sure to check compatibility and be sure that the solution is going to fit the customer's required needs. So long as that has been clear from the start, there's no cost to the solution whatsoever.

The time I dealt with Veeam Agent, I tried it in a home lab. At that time, it was pretty new to me. However, when I looked at the installation guide online, which is elaborated thoroughly, I basically installed the Windows machine in which I installed the Veeam Backup Server. I already had a Linux machine, for which I enabled the SSH. I went back to the Backup Server and simply added the IP address and the root account of the machine. Then all of a sudden the agent was already deployed without even a reboot and I managed to do the backup. All of that happened in less than an hour and a half from installing the Backup Server to deploying the Agent to performing the actual backup.

You should try it out to see it for yourself. It's really easy and straightforward.

The maintenance needed for Agent for Linux at our company would be hard to quantify, but it's a huge number because we deal with resellers and systems integrators that deal with end-users. We're not talking about less than 1,000 agents.

In terms of implementation, there are a whole bunch of additional dependencies that you do need to install. Then, once you have those installed, it's pretty straightforward from there. In order for you to do anything there, you need to physically log onto the machine, physically open the app, and physically configure everything yourself.

Initially, once I got past all the dependencies or included the dependencies, it took about half an hour to an hour to set up the solution.

You have to sort out the actual dependencies of the machine first. You have to download a whole bunch of stuff first so the machine doesn't break. After that, you would need to get the installation file to download, and you would use all CLI commands, all Windows command line commands, basically to download the machine. Once you do the installation, then it's going to tell you, hey, wait, you missed some dependencies. You would have to go and install those first. After that, if you run it again and it goes through, you have to try and figure out how to configure it. It can be quite daunting if you've never worked with it before.

Veeam has a "next, next, finish" installer, and the overall deployment is straightforward. The deployment is easy because Veeam is compatible with all our VMware services and VMs. Veeam Backup and Veeam ONE are integrated into vCenter or vSphere site deployments, so we don't need to deploy each server one by one.

The Veeam Backup solution or Veeam ONE solution can be deployed through the vCenter management site. The IT team can manage all the VMs and Veeam servers through VMware's management tools. These tools aren't something that the end-users set up or use. It's administered at the system level. We use these tools to manage, deploy, back up or replicate our systems.

The initial setup was straightforward. It's not complicated. It takes around half an hour to implement, but it depends on the performance of the server that you are installing the backup software on.

The initial setup was not so complex, but not so straight forward either. We had to design specifically for it because our infrastructure is quite complex. To be able to integrate Veeam with our infrastructure was pretty straightforward. We are also providing some services for hosting and co-location.

At the end of the day, Veeam was mostly straightforward and easy to implement.

Deployment took about 21 days. After deployment, you need about two to three people to take care of the environment.

The initial setup is very simple. It's a standard part of our process. We build a site, we install backup servers, and we install drives in remote backup locations. Then we continue clicking the "next" button until we're finished. It's easy.

The deployment is instantaneous but you have to run your own job input into the servers and decide what time you want them to run. It's easy to do an entire site. It takes a couple of hours.

The initial setup is straight forward. It's simple to install, but then you have to configure it. There are always some specific situations to be considered and put into the plan and then accordingly, consider the solution.

The deployment depends on the configuration, that is, whether you have big environments or small environments. If you have just a few servers, then deployment takes two to three hours altogether, but if you have a big environment, then it takes a couple of days.

My colleagues have installed the agent on the server. After that, we chose to deploy the agent from the Veeam VBR server, which is more practical for use and more available.

I am a part of a team with 50 people who deploy and maintain this solution.
