What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of the solution is that I can use several tapes. I can do backups on several drives. I can configure it to various drives on different days and I get alerts telling me when… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Now that we are using the solution, we get notified online when our backups are done. I don't have to go to the server itself to see if the back up has been completed. It relieves us of the tedious… more»

What needs improvement?

The solution should do better marketing for the product. I only heard of it because a colleague at another company told me about it. The solution needs a dashboard or some form of central control from… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There's a yearly licensing cost. The costs might be around $2000 USD annually.

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. We use BackupAssist as an add-on to the Windows Server Backup. This solution is sort-of a middle-range software between Veeam and VMware Backup Hypervisor. My… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We didn't really evaluate other options. I was already using Windows Backup Exec and was having problems with it. Veeam was quite expensive. The solution was recommended by someone that was already… more»

What is most valuable?

The fact that Azure Backup is integrated is one of its biggest advantages. Everything is on one platform and we can use it from PowerShell automation, which is helpful. The recovery, in many cases, is quite fluid.

What needs improvement?

It would be helpful if it included the ability to perform Office 365 backups so that we didn't have to use additional software. In the next release, I would like to see the ability to back up to different cloud providers. For example, some customers would like to be able to synchronize with an… more»

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In addition to Azure Backup, we have experience with Veeam and Altaro. The main difference between Azure Backup and other solutions is that it is oriented to back up Azure Cloud data. The other solutions offer more functionality for on-premises environments and help to synchronize files across local… more»

What other advice do I have?

To this point, I have not run across any issues that are blocking. My advice to anybody who is considering this solution is to go ahead and use it. It works and it's a good service on the platform. It is just one of the building blocks that we use every day on Azure, so I can't see any reason to… more»

What is most valuable?

Instant volume mount and the SpanFS filesystem itself, which has great dedupe and compression across all of our backups. Our admins have been able to run restore jobs with… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Backups and restores are much faster and we were able to increase our backup frequency where it made sense to do so in order to have lower RPO. We were also able to move… more»

What needs improvement?

Reporting is one area that isn't as robust as it could be. The next release supposedly improves upon that but I have not seen it yet. We had real issues with restores on… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I advise others to spin up a Cohesity virtual edition on their infrastructure. We ran backups in parallel for a month to test all features before even bringing in test… more»

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Veeam and ExaGrid. We liked Veeam, but we did not see any innovation out of ExaGrid and they were becoming progressively more expensive. I was wary of… more»

What other advice do I have?

I would say that Cohesity seems like they are a very forward looking company. They are adding features with each release and seem to be investing heavily in extending… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Veeam with other back end storage as well as Rubrik. Rubrik looked nice but was more expensive and we felt it was lacking features. It would have been a step… more»

What is most valuable?

The backup is the solution's most valuable feature. It's very reliable.

What needs improvement?

The configuration and expansion aspects of the solution need improvement. They're complicated and don't really integrate well. The solution requires a remote site application in a future release. I believe they are currently working on this.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We were lucky to receive the solution as part of a bundle. It was actually a relatively good price, but there are better solutions, like Veem. However, they can be expensive.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the on-premises deployment model of the solution. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
