Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] Previous Solutions

We used IBM's product TSM for Exchange. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is easier to configure and understand compared to the complex deployment and recovery point of IBM's TSM.

I use Veeam agents for Linux, Mac, and Windows.

I'm also familiar with Acronis and Veritas.

We used to use HP Data Protector previously. We didn't have the licensing up to date, and we needed to invest more money if we would continue, and so we moved to Veeam.

I've worked with Veeam Backup and Replication and Veeam Agent for Linux. For Linux, there's no reporting. The only way for you to figure out what's happening is to physically log into the machine and figure out if the backup ran or not. It's not really that good. For Windows itself, it looks fine.

We are using several backup solutions that include Veeam, NetBackup, and Infrascale. We use NetBackup with AIX because it has a nice GUI where you can see the jobs that have been launched, whether they succeeded or failed, and so on. With other products, you have to log in to each of the AIX servers, go through the logs, and figure out why the jobs didn't complete.

I used NetBackup earlier. I found its license assessment, setup process, and infrastructure more complicated than Veeam.

I didn't previously use a different solution, and I also don't plan to change from this one. I have a quote with me right now that I will fire off in order to start the renewal process.

We are encouraging clients to switch to Veeam because it is better than several other products we have recommended in the past. We mostly used to use Veritas Backup Exec. We think that Veeam is a better solution.

I have worked with many backup solutions over the years, including:

The problems that we were experiencing using this solution led us to switch to Commvault. We spent some time researching the best solutions for the Nutanix environment, and we concluded that Commvault was the best choice.

I am aware that a new version of Veeam has since been released, but we needed a backup solution for Hyper-V and Nutanix

Veritas was the leader in the market perhaps ten years ago. But since that time, many other companies like Veeam have come to the front. Veeam is a really good software application, whereas Veritas is a very complex product.
