Veeam Backup & Replication Pricing and License Cost

Sanjeev Roy
Project Manager at renaissance group
Actually, the most important criteria for us when considering a solution is service. When we are taking a decision regarding the hardware or software or any applications, then first we need to tell where and what the services they are giving us. Then we evaluate the service level element. The main important criteria when selecting a vendor are then what are the features and services available in the devices or applications. This should be our main selection path to select any hardware devices or applications. Because of our world, in the market, we can get low prices on devices or we could then see what is available. What I actually need is what I need to deploy, the features I need to be deploying in my architecture. That needs to be considered first in systems administration because the price can vary. In my personal experience, these values and features should be the first standard for selecting a device or application. View full review »

The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill. The price of Veeam and its software related products enable you to have your own hardware. You can use your own infrastructure and you can actually buy what you want. This is cost-effective. It might be that if you buy something else and they have media things it's very expensive but it works very well. If your company has pressure to actually get back data very quickly, it might not be possible with this solution. Our college environment doesn't seem to have this problem. There has not been much down time but I think if the server is broken, it just restores within an hour and everything returns back to normal. View full review »

Plan your long-term backup strategy for growth and size the solution appropriately. Veeam has a number of setup options to choose from so make sure you understand them to make the right decision. I would always suggest a multi-year agreement as this will allow for the best possible ROI of licensing. View full review »

I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive. This is typical when a company becomes an industry leader. View full review »

The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment. That should be taken into consideration when purchasing the Veeam Backup and Replication solution. View full review »

The pricing makes sense, especially with the number of VMs you can fit on one socket nowadays. Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along. View full review »
