If a customer has a low budget, Veeam may be too expensive.

Technical support could always be faster.

While the solution is generally satisfactory, we encountered difficulties when attempting to seek assistance for issues we faced. Getting the necessary help proved to be quite challenging.

The after-sales service is not ideal for French-speaking customers like us in Quebec. Unfortunately, there is no local support available for us.

We are now able to work on more security-related tasks with Acronis, as they offer features such as antivirus, DLP, and various cybersecurity options. This is a significant improvement compared to our previous solution with Veeam Cloud Connect, where we were lacking such features. It also allows us to offer a wider range of security options to our customers.

I would like to see the solution able to back-up from KVM. There have been major improvements with the response times over the lower bandwidth coming from the internet over Cloud Connect, with a lower bandwidth connection. I also think the cost factor is a major issue for Veeam because it's a very expensive soluton especially when the client wants support for VMware. The cloud is agnostic and apart from our Hyper-V and VMware environment, being a service provider we also have clients that are just using KVM as a hypervisor.

Some of the features I'd like added to the solution would be coming up in version 12, so the only area for improvement I saw in Veeam Cloud Connect was the need to have more support for object storage.

The problems that we've seen in the past are related to integration.

The dashboard could be more intuitive.

The way that it recovers could be improved. As it is now, we have two products. There is one for backup and one for DR recovery. Veeam is normally the end-of-day backup, so you have got a recovery point objective you need to hit. However, with a product like Zerto, when you take snapshots, you're talking about seconds rather than minutes or hours. If Veeam could integrate a recovery of the service option in their backup and have everything on the one platform, that would be perfect.

With the Veeam Backup application, you have really good compression and deduplication ratios, which means you can save lots of space on your backup storage. With Veeam for Office 365 and companies that require long-term retention, they often complain about the capacity storage it might take. There's no deduplication on that level. Basically, a huge amount of storage capacity can be required in certain cases.

The general feedback I get from the market is that there is no deduplication.

Basically, I'd love to see, I'm not sure technically if it's possible to do deduplicate Office 365 documents. Or, what I'd like to see is make a page for support so that you are able to back up to tapes. Usually, I'm a company and I have a long retention plan, and I backup on disk space storage, it's going to cost me a fortune. Meanwhile, if I preserve a short-term retention plan, like backup, if I need to have backups for three years for example, and I'll need huge amounts of storage. Now, storage can be expensive or it can be cheap. This base storage is useful for short time retention. For example, keep it for one month, and then you can archive it on tape for the rest of the year. In a situation where a company needs to restore from long term retention, tape storage is really inexpensive.

So I'd like to see the Veeam Backup to tapes, support Cloud Object Storage, now the new trend for archiving data is not just on tapes and data deduplication appliances, this is considered really old technology. Deduplication appliances are only fit for enterprise customers because they can be expensive, but they save lots of data.

So the only real need for it is in enterprise but some small companies, they'd like to archive their data long-term. They find financial challenges to do so. So nowadays they look to this new Cloud Object Storage with Cloud providers like Azure Blob Storage or Amazon s3 or IBM, they have their own object storage. So that can really be useful for archival. So, basically supporting archive peer for the Veeam Backup for Office 365. Archive peer storage, whether it be the deduplication or Cloud Object Storage or tapes.

It's probably on the way. When you look at Veeam Backup and Replication and how long they have come through the way, probably it's on the way there. There are programs to do all that I have said to you if the client is also using Veeam Backup with Replication. Because you can basically install Veeam Backup for Office 365 with a VM and just back it up using the Veeam Backup with Replication, then you can get the use of the deduplication then you can archive to the Cloud by a virtual machine. There are workarounds, too.

We were interested in investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in VMware. VMware right now is one of the biggest solutions in the world, in terms of the IT environment. But for Cloud Connect it's not. I think they need the cloud version to reach more customers, to enable the cloud version to be used by more people.

The solution could use more web optimization and some networking features than what they have currently. If they could work to integrate more with other solutions, such as Cisco API, that would be helpful. Security is very good, but from the networking side of things, I think we need more enhancements.

Veeam offers native deduplication functionality which is an important factor when customers pay for their storage consumption, as is the norm for cloud-based solutions. However, Veeam's native deduplication, which also applies to Veeam Cloud Connect, is not always as efficient as the deduplication ratios achieved when using Veeam's native S3 cloud integration. That being said, Microsoft's ReFS has helped a lot in this regard.

The solution needs to be more scalable. There should be no reason to set up Veeam Cloud Connect and have 10 servers in order to have a cloud backup.

The initial setup could be easier.

The possibility to move texts to cloud storage would be ideal. That may be coming in a future version.

It would be ideal if my storage wasn't directly attached to some other type of cloud storage, and was just in Cloud Connect instead of having to be on Amazon, or Azure, or Wasabi as well.

We need the solution to offer IT storage.

It would be helpful if the enterprise edition was more complete. It's not as complete as the enterprise plus edition is. For instance, in the enterprise version, we can only use one accelerator with the cloud provider. It means if I have my Cloud Connect, I cannot connect another site of mine with another cloud connect and use an accelerator of Veeam. They should change this.

The security of encrypted data could be better.

Better encryption is needed. The backup solution is related to our data, and they need to encrypt data without utilizing the bandwidth.

We would like to see them minimize the bandwidth between all sides.

I think the pricing could be improved and I also think archiving could be improved. Veeam doesn't do the archiving. When I offer the client Veeam or Veritas, the client prefers Veritas because of the price. I think Veeam was a better choice for this company.

I would like to see both email archiving and file archiving as additional features.

I can't think of any improvements at the moment.

The solution should allow for interfacing with other public cloud vendors. They could work to build something around that concept.

There should be a way to easily migrate from one cloud provider to another.

Currently, there isn't too much that can be added to improve the service. We already have a pipeline that checks the program for enhancements and we'd be more than happy to see them added in the future.

The pricing is too high. The customer is always asking if there's a way to reduce it.
