I rate the price of Veritas Backup Exec a four out of five.

The product is inexpensive compared to enterprise software.

Unlike other solutions like Veeam, which may have bundled packages, Backup Exec provides a range of licensing models to suit different needs. Customers can choose to license through an agent, which allows for flexibility in covering specific workloads or virtual machines. Additionally, there's the option for capacity-based licensing, where pricing is determined by the amount of data being protected, typically measured in terabytes. Regarding expense, Backup Exec is generally suitable for small and medium businesses. However, we can customize them based on the workload.

The solution costs $700 per agent and is expensive compared to other products that offer better stability. 

I rate pricing a four out of ten. 

The pricing is reasonable. It was the main selling factor for us. We pay a yearly licensing fee. I have a gold edition, and it includes all the features that I need - so it's enough for me.

There are two ways to license it. You can license it per instance or per terabytes of data that we are mocking up. It is enough because it is not so complex. It is good when you're working with customers.

We have licenses that run on a yearly basis. We are paying somewhere around $10-15,000 on licensing a month. We don't have too big of an environment.

Make sure you verify the V-RAY Extension when licensing your virtual environment. Depending on the scenario, it can cost less than half of the price of other methods.

Ultimately, the clientele rejected the subscription model on offer. They found it to be too expensive.

I would like to see a better licensing model. They changed it and it's just horrendous.

It's a good price for the product.

I think setup and management to should be easy for a backup applications, because skill personnel for IT Jobs are scarce these days leaving admins with more work. So Automation and simplicity is the way to go to be able to complete your work.

I think cost much be seen in relation to the value of what is being backed up.
