Lightweight, stable, and well-suited for end-users

What is our primary use case?

We are in the process of building a public cloud and we are using OpenNebula for its management. At the backend, we use ESXi 6.7, vCenter 6.7, and NSX. I believe that it's a really good combination for creating your cloud. We didn't choose the vCloud Director because of the license and we cannot pay for it. The reason is that we are in Iran, and we are faced with sanctions.

Pros and Cons

  • "OpenNebula is lightweight, stable, and easy to customize."
  • "They have been saying for the past two and a half years that they would develop a feature to hot-add RAM and CPU, but it does not work."

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a good product for the end-user. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Great for maintaining control and insight across various cloud platforms

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for this product is for a mixed set of services, including providing IT, multi-cloud management, single pane of glass control panel, providing metering and charge-back capability, role-based access control, and other things. It's a long list. My focus specifically is with regard to the data center and cloud. Enterprise businesses are using this solution. We use this solution ourselves as well as for our clients. We're a partner with CloudBolt and I am a solution specialist/product manager of cloud and data center services.

Pros and Cons

  • "Role-based access control and application blueprinting."
  • "Could increase the number of integrations and add more out-of-the-box work flows."

What other advice do I have?

The documentation provided on this solution is quite easy to follow and what they provide is enough to be able to deploy the solution. I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.

Good optimization but is immature and integration is complicated

Pros and Cons

  • "The optimization of the solution is quite interesting."
  • "The solution is still quite immature."

What other advice do I have?

We're partners with Red Hat. I'm not sure of which version of the solution we are using. It's some aspect of version four. We use both hybrid and on-premises deployment models. On a scale from one to ten, I would rate the solution at a five.

Straightforward to set up and reasonably-priced, but the integration with other tools is limited

What is our primary use case?

We are a provider of cloud solutions and the RightScale Cloud Management Platform is one of the products that we implement for our clients.

Pros and Cons

  • "The most valuable feature is Optima, which is something that we use quite extensively."
  • "Technical support is an area that can be improved."

What other advice do I have?

On the cloud management side, this product works well and there is nothing that our customers have mentioned they would like to have improved. As a product, it is pretty well designed. My only real complaint is about the technical support. That said, if you have your own team then it's not a big issue. I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
