Secure and integrates well but needs better customization
Pros and Cons
  • "We find it to be reliable."
  • "We'd like the customization to be better."

What is our primary use case?

I'm using the solution to manage all cabinets in our company. It's essential for our business.

How has it helped my organization?

We chose this solution as it's more in line with the business solution security of devices in our company. We moved devices to this solution to experiment with it to see if it's the best possible solution in terms of security. So far, it's been good.

What is most valuable?

It's a more secure solution to manage all tablets or mobile devices. It helps us stay organized and integrates well with mobile devices and tablets.

It's stable and reliable.

The solution can scale.

What needs improvement?

We'd like the customization to be better.

It would be ideal if the interface was better to make it easier to manage all devices.

We'd always like more features and functionality in the future as the solution continues to progress.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution was stable. There were no bugs or glitches and it didn't crash or freeze. We find it to be reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We started by managing 200 tablets. We'll be expanding usage in the coming months. We'll likely reach a maximum of 400 tablets.

We have 150 people on the solution currently.

How are customer service and support?

I get support from a third party, not directly from the product. The support I get is in my country, in Egypt, and that's better as it's local.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Microsoft Intune previously, and it was difficult for me. I switched as this solution was simpler.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not complicated. There may be a bit of difficulty in connecting all the components together. However, I have a year of experience, so, for me, it wasn't hard. It gets easier with time. Likely in five more years, it will be even simpler to deploy. I had some additional documentation as well that helped.

The deployment itself took about one month. That is a typical timeframe.

Our strategy was to mainly manage all tablets and mobile devices from a single platform. Our main strategy was to connect all devices and be able to track them in case they were stolen or they were losing data. With this solution, we are able to set up and manage everything centrally.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the initial setup in-house. There was no outside assistance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a three-year contract that we pay on a yearly basis. The pricing is on the website. For big users, it's around $500.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at a variety of different products, including some from Microsoft.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer and reseller.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Beneficial existing group policies upgrading, reliable, and helpful support
Pros and Cons
  • "You can upgrade and migrate the existing group policies that we use for VMware Workspace ONE for the active directory. We can push the policies and group policies. We can migrate it and manage it from VMware Workspace ONE."
  • "VMware Workspace ONE for the new users or the new clients that they try to procure and learn it, there can have difficulties. It does not have user-friendly portals. The portal seems to be more user-friendly in Microsoft solutions."

What is our primary use case?

We have multiple use cases for VMware Workspace ONE. The main use case for VMware Workspace ONE is offline domain drawing.

We don't have any limits for Windows 10 Enterprise, because if you want to go for the endpoint management, it's a need to have Enterprise Edition for Windows 10 devices.

What is most valuable?

You can upgrade and migrate the existing group policies that we use for VMware Workspace ONE for the active directory. We can push the policies and group policies. We can migrate it and manage it from VMware Workspace ONE.

What needs improvement?

VMware Workspace ONE for the new users or the new clients that they try to procure and learn it, there can have difficulties. It does not have user-friendly portals. The portal seems to be more user-friendly in Microsoft solutions.

We don't have the availability of sharing with other platforms, such as social platforms, or YouTube. We don't find those learning materials. It is very difficult to learn.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used VMware Workspace ONE within 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

VMware Workspace ONE is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of VMware Workspace ONE is good. If we want to scale we only need to purchase more licenses.

We have approximately 50,000 users using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the support from VMware Workspace ONE a four out of five.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used other solutions, such as Microsoft Intune. I have found VMware Workspace One better than Microsoft Intune.

How was the initial setup?

VMware Workspace ONE is not straightforward, but we had tested for the on-premise setup. It worked very well and we also tried the SaaS solution. We have tried both solutions. It took us five months to do.

Even though we were not aware of a lot of things and there were dependencies that were the challenge. We had to address all of them. If we want to test it now, it would be two months maximum, we can test it and onboard it.

What about the implementation team?

We did the deployment with the help of the VMware team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

VMware Workspace ONE licensing price is good with their supportability. The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable. We are using an enterprise license.

What other advice do I have?

I rate VMware Workspace ONE a nine out of ten.

The portal is not user-friendly, it is too complicated, and registering devices is very difficult
Pros and Cons
  • "The product enables us to access our internal applications from anywhere in the world."
  • "The portal is not user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

The product enables us to access our internal applications through any device from anywhere.

What is most valuable?

It's a very good technology. If I’m in Saudi Arabia today and in the USA tomorrow, I can access our internal applications without any downtime. I can access our office application through mobile phones, laptops, or other personal devices. People suffered losses during COVID-19. The product enables us to access our internal applications from anywhere in the world.

What needs improvement?

Compared to Microsoft, VMware Workspace ONE must improve many things. The VMware Workspace ONE portal is too complicated. The portal is not user-friendly. Accessing the web-based application is complicated. Registering devices is very difficult.

VMware Workspace ONE must be improved a lot. Searching the menu is very difficult. Everything is too complicated. People prefer immediate results, but it is not easy to find things on VMware Workspace ONE. Unified Access Gateway and UEM are very difficult. The menu and options are not visible properly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for almost three years.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is deployed on the cloud. The installation is not complicated. We are using it on the cloud. The on-premises solution is not available for the past two to three years. The vendor provides guidelines for installation. It is very easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool is expensive. VMware products are always expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Microsoft Intune’s portal is more user-friendly than VMware Workspace ONE’s portal. We can register devices on Microsoft Intune within a second. I'm more happy with Microsoft Intune.

What other advice do I have?

Hypervisor and vCenter are good solutions. I will not recommend the solution to others. VMware Workspace ONE has to improve a lot compared to other vendors. Overall, I rate the product a three out of ten.

Centralizes control, allows for remote wiping of devices, and is easy to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution can scale."
  • "Sometimes, we have challenges with remote patching and remote version upgrades."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is good for controlling mobile devices centrally. When you have a distributed network, it's able to easily manage and centralize.

What is most valuable?

It's provided us with a lot of benefits. We can control the app and wipe any data remotely in case of loss or theft.

We can also apply patches to ensure the latest versions are available.

The solution allows us to control everything centrally.

It's meeting our requirements right now. It's aligned with our internet policy as well as our security policy.

It's stable and reliable.

The solution can scale.

The setup is pretty straightforward.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes, we have challenges with remote patching and remote version upgrades. We'd like the product to improve these capabilities to make patch management especially a bit more straightforward.

We do not need any extra features.

Technical support could be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable and easy to expand.

We have 100 users on it right now.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is okay, however, it needs a bit of improvement.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use a different solution previously.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very easy.

We did a standard deployment process only. There are no customizations that we made.

There is no maintenance required.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the solution's deployment in-house, as well as with help from the vendor.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I can't speak to the exact pricing and licensing. It's pretty reasonable in terms of the cost.

What other advice do I have?

I am using the latest version of the solution.

While it depends on the business needs and the policy requirements, I'd recommend the solution.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Good virtualization, fair pricing, and responsive support
Pros and Cons
  • "I found the initial setup to be easy."
  • "We'd like to see a better connection to Microsoft Azure and a better connection with Check Point."

What is our primary use case?

We have some VMware products, and the company uses Workspace ONE since we use the virtualization product, VMware. This is just a virtualization product.

In work before, we have used the VMware direct connection.

What is most valuable?

In VMware, its virtualization is good.

I found the initial setup to be easy.

We can scale the solution if we need to.

The pricing is good.

Support is helpful and responsive.

What needs improvement?

We have some problems with Workspace ONE. We have used the politic MDM for mobile, and it was probably one month before one account just removed it. It's likely an error from Samsung since this device gets updates from Samsung. Once an update happened, they remove this from the MDM platform from Workspace ONE. However, I could not track down the reason this happened.

We'd like to see a better connection to Microsoft Azure and a better connection with Check Point.

It's not completely stable.

While we have some wrappers in the product, I don't usually find what I want.

The two-factor identification process needs to be easier.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for four months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution isn't too stable. We've had some errors with the device. I'd rate the stability ya three out of five in terms of stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale.

We have around 250 people using it currently. About ten people use the admin panel.

How are customer service and support?

We've used technical support in the past since we have had problems along the way. Typically, issues can be resolved within a week. That's not too long to wait.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We're still using VMware Workspace ONE and now starting to use Microsoft Intune.

We are just now starting to use Microsoft Intune, and it's much better than Workspace ONE. It's easy to use for updates. And for control, it's also simpler since we have Office 365 and we have an all-in-one approach with Intune and Azure Active Directory. InTune is just better in a Microsoft environment.

How was the initial setup?

It's not very difficult. The platform is pretty easy. I did find, however, that the two-factor authentication took some time. I'd rate the overall process a three out of five in terms of ease of setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is not an expensive solution. The pricing is good. It's also less expensive than InTune. I'd rate their pricing five out of five.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer and end-user.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. I've been pretty happy with its capabilities.

Feature-rich, good for Android device management
Pros and Cons
  • "It's a tool that can be managed in various departments."
  • "I prefer to work with Jamf Pro because it is more specific to working with the iPad features."

What is our primary use case?

We use Workspace ONE for managing devices. We can create users who can only use systems in the cloud.

What is most valuable?

It's a large enterprise platform that offers many tools. It's a tool that can be managed in various departments.

What needs improvement?

VMware is an expensive tool, and we are not using the complete platform. We are paying for a tool that we are not fully using. We need a specific tool that provides us with what we need.

We have decided to switch to another solution that we are currently evaluating and doing PoCs for because we work on iPads only. I prefer to work with Jamf Pro because it is more specific to working with the iPad features.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using VMware Workspace One for the last 12 months.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are currently doing a PoC for Jamf Pro. I am learning and trying to understand the platform. We are still in the testing phase.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's an expensive tool.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We are currently evaluating different solutions to find the best MDM platform to suit our needs. We are looking at Aurelia Santiago.

What other advice do I have?

We are having some issues with VPN providers. They don't work with the settings that we need.

In a month or two, we will have to connect with the Active Directory for research and to configure the users.

We manage Android devices only, with a custom tool that was created.

I would rate VMware Workspace One a ten out of ten.

  • "The technical support could be improved."

What is most valuable?

All the features, including Web, Android, and iOS Management, are valuable. Workspace ONE Intelligence is also a valuable tool. The streamlining of device management tasks is incorporated into the tool. We do not have to do much. The product has fully automated features that help people do tasks easily. It has been improving remote workforce support for eight years. It provides access to all our systems at any time from any place. It also provides seamless integration with third-party tools and single sign-on.

What needs improvement?

The technical support could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for 13 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s scalability a ten out of ten. I recommend the solution for small and big organizations.

How are customer service and support?

We do not use support much since we are experienced. Product-related issues occur due to new functions. It is sometimes difficult for the first-level support to understand the full context of the problem.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

We did not face any challenges while implementing the solution. We manage very big customers to very small customers. They are doing well. The tool is easy to deploy and easy to use. It is transparent to the end user.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution’s pricing is favorable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used solutions from Microsoft, SAP, and MobileIron.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate the product a ten out of ten.
