A mature product and an industry leader with great application virtualization

What is our primary use case?

For virtual desktops, like Windows 10 or Windows 7, we primarily use the solution to offer some customized applications to the users. Some of the basic applications, like Windows applications, are being used across all VDIs. The usage depends on the specific customer. They decide what applications they want to have in their VDI. We have certain items as far as their requirements, and we just manage the infrastructure in the background.

Pros and Cons

  • "Citrix is one of the companies that is delivering virtual apps and desktops in a big way. They are mature enough to understand the level of stability required and deliver it."
  • "If Citrix can develop something which can have more reach towards the backend infrastructure, other components of the Citrix environment, that would be ideal."

What other advice do I have?

We're currently using the latest version of the solution. While we mostly work with on-premises deployments, we also occasionally handle cloud deployments as well. We have our internal Cloud offering. Form there, we have a managed data center and within our company's premises, the customers are just subscribing to services based on their need for virtual desktops. I would recommend the product. It's an industry leader in the VDI environment. Nobody can match their capabilities right now. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten overall. If they had better capability testing, I might rate it…

Allowing secure, stable access to applications in your environment through virtual desktops

What is our primary use case?

We are in the process of upgrading the product currently. Our primary use case is having it as our main access for all our employees to be able to connect to our work environment. All applications are available through that access point.

Pros and Cons

  • "It is stable, easy to scale, and provides secure remote access."
  • "The product is currently not working well in hosting conferencing software like Zoom, Team, and Salon."

What other advice do I have?

What I would say to people looking at Citrix Workspace as a solution is to do thorough testing for all applications. In our case, this should have included video conferencing applications. It was something we did not look at specifically probably because it was working well with everything else. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Citrix Workspace as an eight of ten.
