What is most valuable?

What I like the most about vRA: Its seamless ability for users to be able to go pick a catalog item that we have created for them, while they are testing a new version of their code and say, "Okay, I want you to make my old version (based on... more»

How has it helped my organization?

It has made our developers be a bit more agile, instead of like old days, where it was, "Okay, we need a new environment, I've got to spin up the whole thing for them." Now, it's, "Hey, if you need a new environment, go to this URL, click... more»

What needs improvement?

One of the things we saw in the initial phase was our integration with our development domains, where if we want to have more than one domain tied to it with users, we're seeing that as a struggle. However, VMware has said, some of these... more»

What is most valuable?

The ability to customize your own portal. We've gotten to the point now where we've used it to create this whole environment for users to be able to self-provision their own machines and get them into networks. We have a very large number of... more»

How has it helped my organization?

We used to do everything manually. Up until just a few months ago, we used to have little reviews where, if they wanted a VM, they would come to us, tell us what they wanted, then someone on the team would actually submit the vRA form in an... more»

What needs improvement?

Since I haven't been able to get as far into version 7, I haven't actually gotten into the guts of it, I don't know if this taking place already. But perhaps more blueprints of common tasks that are already there, so you have more of a place... more»

What is most valuable?

vRA provides that single pain of glass for our cloud tenants to deploy, monitor, access, and manage their VMs/guest operating systems. vRA allows a cloud service provider to quickly build out a web portal front-end interface that easily... more»

How has it helped my organization?

vRealize Automation is improving the way we host and serve up our fully hosted private cloud solutions as a cloud service provider. It has created efficiencies in how we deploy, manage, monitor, and develop within the service. It provides... more»

What needs improvement?

Most of the areas for which there was room for improvement are being covered in the latest 7.4 release which will include all new workflows for additional management of a customer’s cloud and infrastructure, directly from the Web portal... more»

What is most valuable?

Probably the extensibility as well as the out-of-the-box features it provides, which allow you to be very creative with things you can add on and customise. The extensibility is the most important part for me.

How has it helped my organization?

The extensibility allows you to take custom or proprietary requirements and make them happen. Where there's a lot of products, it will give you a set number of used cases, and if you have something that's outside of those, then it can be... more»

What needs improvement?

Yes, certainly. The ability to manage the product in code; so infrastructure is code. It certainly has improved in the last version, but it still isn't quite at the level that some of its competition is in. It's not infrastructure is called... more»

What is most valuable?

The ability to provision to on-prem and public cloud using a standardized set of blueprints.

How has it helped my organization?

It has reduced provisioning time from roughly three to six weeks to about an hour on a private cloud, and about 25 minutes on public cloud.

What needs improvement?

The ability to provision native cloud services as well as the ability to provision Azure VMs in the same way we provision AWS VMs. Right now, it's a broken process. Azure is kind of a work around. It would be good to have native address... more»
