What is most valuable?

What I like is that you can have different storage locations for different applications. This means that we can host different applications in different server locations. It reduces the cost of having to purchase hardware, rather than multiple hardware devices you only need one single hardware… more »

What needs improvement?

In regards to stability, it doesn't do the patches on the operating systems. The manufacturers need to develop patches for security reasons, on all of the applications. There could be an improvement in the scalability. I think that it should be able to integrate with other third-party backup and… more »

What other advice do I have?

We are system integrators so we don't use this solution completely, we use the applications or services fully, we just make sure to go through the features and do our best to use them, and then we sell them. There may be some aspects that VMware needs to improve on, but we haven't used all of the… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have not evaluated other solutions. This is the only virtualization solution that I am using.

What is most valuable?

We are using it because we have a VMware product. It has its own built-in dashboards for VMware products, and that's a good thing. Also, filtering logs is very easy and extracting fields from the data… more »

What needs improvement?

The solution is a very good tool, but it has a lot of limitations. One of the main issues is around how you define your retention policy, for instance. It doesn't have it. You can't define a log… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We are not paying extra for the solution because it was part of our bundle. That was one of the reasons we used it. There was no extra cost for us.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the solution six or seven out of ten. It's very easy to use, but at the same time it has some limitations. You have to consider that if you decide to try out the solution.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We started using this product because we wanted to have something up and running. We are currently evaluating other products now, as well, even though we are continuing to use this solution. We are… more »

What needs improvement?

Documentation is lacking, including some guides as to how to use the expressions. It is not clear how to look for a log, for example. Some examples in the documentation might be helpful. I think that VMware had good documentation, but it's no longer hosted. The documentation is not as easy to understand as it was before. Log Insight has a good dashboard, where you can search for a log. However, it… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing could always be lower. If it were free, I would be more satisfied.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight of ten.

What is most valuable?

The log search functionality is very good. The alerts, based on patterns, is quite useful. The interface of the solution is good. The dashboard offers good functionality.

What needs improvement?

The pricing of the solution could be improved. The vRealize content packs should be able to pass more information from the UNIX log.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We're also using Elastic's X-Pack. There aren't too many differences between the solutions. To me, they are almost the same in terms of offering and functionality. The biggest difference is that Log Insight has some items built-in and Elestci requires you to do a few things yourself.

What other advice do I have?

I personally am not actively using the solution for searching for logs or creating log analysis. I'm just using it for a few needs here and there when we have some requirements. It depends on a company's use cases, but I would advise that if they've got the infrastructure and it is all based on… more »

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is server virtualization. It's been very useful.

What needs improvement?

The implementation process could be improved. We ran into a few issues during the initial setup that could have been avoided if it was more straightforward. The solution isn't user-friendly for admins. The solution needs to offer a feature for small companies that would allow us to run VDI that… more »

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing of the solution is okay, however we use a nulled version. We have issues because of the sanctions on our country. For important projects, we get licensing through Dubai. Right now we are using a nulled version of the solution.

What other advice do I have?

We use the private cloud deployment model. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. I'd rate it higher, but the implementation is very hard. I would recommend the solution to others. They will save money is they use it. It's also good for maintaining the hardware.

What is most valuable?

The product is perfectly designed. The trace log is the solution's most valuable feature. It's very helpful in troubleshooting problems. The dashboards are also impressive. You have the option to create a very rich dashboard if you like.

What needs improvement?

The solution should make it possible to use it from a security perspective so that you can centralize your policies and have some control as to what's happening in the environment. They should improve their web interface to make it more user-friendly.

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other solutions before choosing this one.

What is most valuable?

The root cause analysis feature is very valuable.

How has it helped my organization?

We're able to use the solution to analyze all of our logs, for years to come.

What needs improvement?

I don't use the solution on a day to day basis, so I'm not sure what specifically can be improved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of the solution is reasonable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't previously use a different solution.

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. We're also platinum partners. In terms of advice to others, if they're looking for a basic VMware solution, it's okay. We've tried other options. Log Insight… more »

What is most valuable?

The virtualization solution supports data center virtualization, network, and security.

What needs improvement?

I don't think there's any specific improvement I'd like to see, perhaps third-party logins. It's great for VMware, but it would be good if they had third-party logins. I'm pretty happy with the dashboard interface and management monitoring tools.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The setup costs can sometimes be a bit expensive but I think for the technology they are offering it's top of the mark. There are no additional costs aside from the standard licensing fees. There's really no competition for what they're offering. They have the production, the market, the scales you… more »

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this product an eight out of 10.
