What do you think of Cisco ASA?

Primary Use Case: Business use. It has performed well. • Valuable Features: Its ability to work with the traffic. • Room for Improvement: I would like it to be easier to work with and have a better user interface. It is not straightforward. You need to know the Cisco command-line interface. • Stability Issues: Stability has been fine. • Scalability Issues: It is good. • Customer Service and Technical Support: I have not used technical support. • Previous Solutions: We have always been with Cisco. • Initial Setup: Initial setup was fairly complex. Just having to know the command prompt rather than having a better user interface. • Pricing, Setup Cost and Licensing: We looking for a possible new solution because of the licensing and VPN. •...

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Spend at least $300 or more on a good pfSense box. Use a hard drive, and not a USB flash drive for pfSense storage.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not use a previous solution. I recommend pfSense because it's free, open source software.

How has it helped my organization?

Helps us to aggregate/manage bandwidth from two ISPs, as a fail-safe.

What needs improvement?

Needs a mail alert/notification when the device loses any of its connections, during ISP redundancy implementation.
