A stable and reliable operating system
Pros and Cons
  • "The latest laptop I've got can turn into a tablet. Windows automatically changes to a tablet view — that's been a pretty good feature."
  • "Stability-wise, it's okay. Sometimes my laptop slows down when I have a lot of applications open, but this could be a laptop issue rather than a Windows 10 issue."

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution for general email processing, communication, and collaboration tools like Teams, etc. I am an IT consultant — we all use Windows 10, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools.

What is most valuable?

Just the general ability to run programs has been nice. There isn't anything in particular that jumps out.

The latest laptop I've got can turn into a tablet. Windows automatically changes to a tablet view — that's been a pretty good feature.

As the security patches are pushed out by our IT, I don't even notice when there's a new upgrade required. With the previous versions, you always had to restart your machine quite often in order to perform an upgrade. I don't really notice that so much now.

What needs improvement?

As far as improvement is concerned, nothing particularly comes to mind. It generally works quite well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 since it was released.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, it's okay. Sometimes my laptop slows down when I have a lot of applications open, but this could be a laptop issue rather than a Windows 10 issue.

How are customer service and support?

I have never had to contact technical support.

How was the initial setup?

Windows 10 was already incorporated into my computer when I bought it. All I had to do was enter my work email address and then it automatically did the rest.

The initial configuration probably takes less than an hour. In the background, it continues to pull more and more data and information through.

Other than any patches that are required, I don't believe there is any maintenance required — not that I'm aware of.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Windows 10 to others. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of ten.

A scalable and stable solution that's been around for a long time
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 has a convenient user interface."
  • "The overall performance could be improved — it loads slowly at times."

What is our primary use case?

As a manager, I use Windows 10 daily. We also use Windows Excel and PowerPoint. We mainly use Windows 10 for email-related needs. We also use Microsoft Windows code to do some technical programming.

Within our organization, there are roughly six to seven thousand employees using Windows 10.

We will definitely continue to use Windows 10.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 has a convenient user interface. Windows has been around for a long time so we're well aware of the features it offers and how to use them properly. From this perspective, it's convenient for me.

What needs improvement?

The overall performance could be improved — it loads slowly at times.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for seven to eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It didn't use to be stable, but nowadays, it is. Still, it could always be more stable.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never had to contact support relating to Windows 10.

How was the initial setup?

The installation process is straightforward. It pretty much installs automatically.

What about the implementation team?

We installed it ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of eight.

I would recommend Windows 10 to others. We use Windows 10 because we were mandated to by our organization. Whether they are capable or not, it doesn't really matter. You'll have to use it because it has been mandated by your organization.

A huge step up from previous versions
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all."
  • "The updates could be improved. Sometimes when we update, there are instances where it fails or crashes."

What is our primary use case?

It's all right. It does the job. We use it for emails and troubleshooting widgets — stuff like that. Within our organization, there are roughly 100 employees using this solution.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is easy to use. It's not like Windows 8 where it had that "start menu" that took up the entire screen. I didn't like that one.

It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all.

What needs improvement?

The updates could be improved. Sometimes when we update, there are instances where it fails or crashes. I wish they would sort that out. When the update is downloaded, maybe we could have a method of checking that the downloaded update from Windows is alright so it doesn't damage our computers before restarting it.

For me, that's the most troubling part — crashing after we've updated it. I've experienced that many times. There are instances where it has actually corrupted the Windows OS, then we have to reformat it.

Every time I have to reformat and install Windows, I have to remove so many pre-installed games and other unnecessary junk. I don't like that. It's just a bother having to remove them again and again and again.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution since it first hit the market.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, Windows 10 is great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's very easy to expand Windows 10.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have to contact technical support from time to time. They're efficient, I always get what I need from them.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple. It's just like any other setup of Windows.

What about the implementation team?

Typically, I set it up myself. My team also knows how to deploy it. Installation takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes.

Sometimes we have to maintain it. Sometimes it slows down and we have to defragment it. Often, it's actually the computer itself that's slow simply because it's dirty; so we have to open up the computer and clean it. We handle all maintenance on our own, including cleaning the computers if they're dirty.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For Filipino standards, it's quite expensive. We pay per license. So far, there have been no hidden costs.

What other advice do I have?

Windows 10 is a big step up from Windows 7. Windows 8 was not that great. Overall, Windows 10 is a lot better than previous versions.

You'll have to update as soon as Windows 7 is no longer supported. If you stick with Windows 7, there are going to be security risks as it's not supported and updated by Windows. That's a big deal if you want security, etc.

I would absolutely recommend Windows 10 to others. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of nine.

Easy to install and use
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is easy to use."
  • "I am not so happy with the performance"

What is our primary use case?

The solution is useful for running one's personal applications.

What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to use. We are very used to using Windows, starting from their 3.1 version. This is the only reason we stick with it.

What needs improvement?

I am not so happy with the performance. All else is good, but the performance could be better.

The user interface could be more interesting, more user-friendly.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

How are customer service and support?

I have not contacted tech support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We only did upgrading. We used Windows 10 prior to Windows 7.

How was the initial setup?

The solution came pre-installed. I have done installations of the earlier versions of Windows. This is easy.

The installation process lasted roughly an hour.

What about the implementation team?

One can do the installation on one's own. My IT background allows me to handle it independently, but I believe this can be done by oneself even without such a background.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution came pre-installed on my computer, so I did not incur a licensing fee.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend the solution to others.

I rate Windows 10 as an eight out of ten.
