Windows 10 Scalability

AshishDubey - PeerSpot reviewer
Product manager at Tata Communications Ltd

Scalability depends on the customer's requirements, like storage needs. It's flexible.

If it's a virtual machine (VM), scalability is good. But for physical devices, it depends on the specific setup.

All of our employees, over 5,000, are using Windows products. The number has been increasing over the past 20 years. All of our users are on Windows systems.

Mostly engineers use Windows. Some use Linux, depending on client requirements. But Windows is used extensively.

The solution is scalable. It allows us to use Linux and Docker for Windows. Previously, to use a Linux platform on Windows, we relied on VMware or Oracle virtual machines. Now, with the stable Windows Subsystem for Linux, there's no need for virtual machines.

If you add more RAM, Windows will use it and provide better performance. But otherwise, it's not easy to interpret scalability in this context.

I work in a small organization. Maybe 10 to 15 people use Windows 10, but individually not centrally managed.

There are tools and features like Hyper-V, wherein you can run virtual machines inside Windows 10 and add new functionality, like making it as a server, like an IaaS server. Scalability is easy. It's quite user friendly if I compare it with any other operating system. Windows gives you the most scalability across any other OS.
