The implementation was done through a vendor.

We do have this competency inside, so we are doing the implementation by ourselves. And as we have a good number of Workday consultants internally working with us.

Our practice head, the one who is primarily managing all work-related implementations and activities, is kind of certified in Studio and has a couple of other certifications on other modules as well. So, we are internally implementing it by ourselves. And then, for migration purposes, you are going to take the help of some Workday partner.

We have a team of four Workday consultants who are primarily working on this implementation, apart from other stakeholders like HR and other people from business. 

Deployment took us some time because a lot of things were unstructured, not streamlined, and not organized. So we tried to collect a lot of historical data and try to do a lot of data cleansing.

So, the implementation will take the next three or four weeks. This implementation will be completed, and then we should be ready for the migration to production or to go live. It took us around six to seven months to complete the implementation. For maintenance, we don't need more than one or two people.

You get the option to do it in-house, use a third party, or use Workday to help you out with the implementation. All three are available. In my experience, I've been a consultant and have gone through implementations with customers. I've also been a customer and gone through the implementation and leading that. Workday, of course, is very much involved in trying to ensure the success of the overall deployment.

The maintenance and the deployment of the solution are a part of my role. Maintenance is an area in which Workday is really strong because it is native to the cloud, and they keep all their customers on the same version. Workday goes through two big releases every year, and it also has weekly releases, which include just fixes and small features. The cool thing there is you're taking credit for new features being released, but you may not have been the one who was patching the server and things of that nature. That's a really strong suit of Workday. 

We used a third-party vendor for the initial deployment and it took about a year and a half or so. 

We had an implementation partner who didn't do a very good job. We have 10 to 20 people to maintain it, but it depends on the complexity of your configuration and builds. 

We deployed the product in-house.

The number of people required for deployment depends on the project's size. In our case, it was a global deployment. We needed more than 100 people to deploy the product. If it’s for one company, it can be deployed with fewer people.

We had a dedicated convergent team with two people, a functional team with four experts, and an integration team with four people for integrating it with other third-party stuff. It was an eight to ten members team, and it took six months for the full-fledged implementation.
