Straightforward to use, good for communication tasks, and offers decent pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "I'm not a really technologically sophisticated user. From my point of view, if I can use it, it's likely very straightforward."
  • "I'd like for there to be more integrations possible in the future."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use Zoom for conferencing.

What is most valuable?

I don't have a problem with the pricing.

I'm not a really technologically sophisticated user. I just use it. From my point of view, if I can use it, it's likely very straightforward.

It's very helpful for communicating with others.

What needs improvement?

It's hard for me to find where the button is in order to start a call. The setup could be a bit simpler. That's it. Everything else is pretty simple.

I'd like for there to be more integrations possible in the future.

If there was an easy way to share files, that would be ideal.

They could improve their permission settings a little bit.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for one year. It hasn't been that long.

High quality video, reliable, and easy session connection
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of Zoom are the very stable video and audio, the quality of the voice is good, and it is very easy to connect to the sessions. This is also the reason why we use Zoom."
  • "I have read some news about Zoom being a little bit insecure, but when we never had any issue with it. They can improve by making the sessions more secure."

What is our primary use case?

We use Zoom for a remote session to support the technology that we sell to the customer, team sessions, and presentations in the company.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Zoom are the very stable video and audio, the quality of the voice is good, and it is very easy to connect to the sessions. This is also the reason why we use Zoom.

What needs improvement?

I have read some news about Zoom being a little bit insecure, but when we never had any issue with it. They can improve by making the sessions more secure.

There are some occasions when Zoom crashes with the antivirus application, but it is easy to resolve.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Zoom for approximately one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found the solution to be scalable.

We have 10 people in my organization that is using Zoom. We all use it. We do not plan to increase usage.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used WebEx, but for me, the application is too heavy. We needed to close many applications in Windows before we could use WebEx. We also used Microsoft Teams, which I did not like. I felt that the video and the voice were too slow with a lot of latency.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We purchased a license for Zoom.

What other advice do I have?

I would suggest those who might be interested in Zoom try out the demonstrations version. The solution is easy to use.

I rate Zoom a ten out of ten.

Good connectivity and clarity of sound has improved communication internationally
Pros and Cons
  • "Ability to record sessions."
  • "Password requirement for every meeting."

What is our primary use case?

We're a small company, around 65 people. Some are external consultants and the rest are employees. We've been using Zoom since well before the pandemic. I'm the RPA operations manager and we're a customer.

How has it helped my organization?

We're a remote organization, so the ability to have video conferencing is very helpful, both internally and externally with our clients. Not everything requires face to face or video conferencing, but it's nice to have that ability and on the current outlook of the world, I think it's going to be the way to go in the future.

What is most valuable?

I like Zoom because you can record your sessions. You have the option to be able to select whether or not your audio is through your laptop or through your phone and you have different recording options. You can record with or without sound. We have the option to use the free 40-minute sessions or to pay for anything longer. One of the benefits of the 40 minute free sessions is that anyone can access them and it's great for short meetings. Also, Zoom recently implemented a Microsoft Office add-in, which means you can now schedule Zoom meetings without having to go into the Zoom app.

What needs improvement?

The one thing I don't like is that they now require you to have a password for every meeting and when I'm just dealing with my staff, where I want to have a conversation but not necessarily a meeting. I know this was implemented due to security concerns, but I don't necessarily like it or need it for everything. That's the only thing I've come across that I didn't really care for, especially in cases where I'm not really using it for a video conference, but for a conference line.

For how long have I used the solution?

Our company has been using this solution for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is currently handling hundreds of thousands of people across the country and across the world so it's pretty stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There isn't really an issue of scalability as we don't maintain it and each individual contractor or employee downloads their own version. When updates comes through, we'll get a patch or  a new version and they'll be required to upload or install it before they can continue using the solution, like with any other product.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never used technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I like Zoom better than WebEx or Skype. We're dealing with people all over the world, so specifically when we're connecting to Columbia or South America, Skype doesn't hold up well, Zooms' clarity seems to be much better. I think the connectivity of Zoom is better.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward and simple - download it and you're off to the races.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10.

Ability to share content is great and I appreciated the high level of audio quality
Pros and Cons
  • "The ability to share content is a great feature."
  • "Extra security would be a good added feature."

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution for chat, video calls, meetings, basically for any interaction with people. I'm a network architect.

What is most valuable?

Sharing content is a great feature. The audio quality was fantastic most of the time and I found it very user-friendly.

What needs improvement?

Additional security would be welcome; an extra layer, whether it's an additional log-in requirement or something on the servers. There is always the possibility of meetings being hijacked or encryption going to China. It would also be helpful to have more control over who attends meetings. An additional feature I'd like to see would be a whiteboard which would be very productive for some of our meetings.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Zoom for many years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is pretty impressive, especially taking into account the huge growth of the user community.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Skype but switched to Zoom because of the features and better quality.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very simple, it was automatically installed on my laptop.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Zoom nine out of 10.

Good communication, reliable, and easy to download
Pros and Cons
  • "The performance is good."
  • "In the next release, I would like to see better security."

What is our primary use case?

We are service providers. If a client has some of those licenses, they will arrange for a Zoom meeting. We share whatever storage the clients have, but we do not purchase storage.

Zoom is used for video communication.

What is most valuable?

The performance is good.

We are satisfied with this solution, it's good.

What needs improvement?

Security is required, and I assume that it is already in place. Aside from that, we are not utilizing Zoom's high-end capabilities.

In the next release, I would like to see better security.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Zoom for three years.

It is dependent on what the client does on their end in terms of deployment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't had any problems with Zoom in our limited use.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not had any issues with the scalability of Zoom.

How are customer service and support?

I have not contacted technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Jaeger, Teams, and Grafana are the tools used in the company for remote monitoring.

We use a variety of operating systems, including Linux, Unix, and Windows.

We also use the network storage for office purposes and I personally use Google Drive, iPhone, and iCloud.

I don't work with the Enterprise edition; instead, I use the open edition.

How was the initial setup?

It doesn't require installation, we use a link, but sometimes we have to download from the browser. This process is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

I was able to complete this process myself.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Zoom to anyone who is thinking about using it.

I would rate Zoom an eight out of ten.
