What is most valuable?

In terms of the most valuable features, I like the ICAP capability and URL filtering the most - these are what most people look for when they look at a proxy, whether on the cloud or on-premise. The authentication is also valuable.

What needs improvement?

They should have a tool to help with the deployment. It is needed to point all the clients to the proxy. I don't think either vendor has a deployment tool as such. Also, Zscaler has something called the Zscaler Internet Access which also acts as a signin box on the next-generation firewall. WSS doesn't do this.

What other advice do I have?

Symantec Complete Website Security works similar to Zscaler, but I think Zscaler is better. For a web-based proxy, I think Zscaler would be my top choice, based on the feedback I have personally received from my customers. The problem with Complete Website Security is with the dot com transition and dealing with Symantec is becoming a problem right now. I think it will be okay in February but for… more »

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for us is the DNS-based protection. It is the only type that is available in India. The interface is very easy to handle. Even a person with limited knowledge can quickly learn to work with it.

What needs improvement?

Deep packet inspection features should be implemented. This solution does not give us full, 360-degree protection. They should have a local data center available in India.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to Cisco Umbrella, we were using on-premises solutions. The capability is good except that a cloud-based solution can be more easily provided to all of our end-users.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good product, although it does not have the features that I was looking for. At this time, it does not have the capabilities that are relevant to the Indian market. As such, we are thinking about uninstalling it and switching… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Zscaler has a local data center available, which is something that Cisco can't offer us at this time.

What is most valuable?

The content filters and SSL encryption are the most valuable features of this solution.

What needs improvement?

The console visibility and the performance impact on the internet need improvement.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Cisco Web Security. We switched because it became end-of-life.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to someone considering this solution is to look at your longterm needs. I would rate this solution a three out of ten. The should include a DNS security layer to improve this solution. They should also make it easier for roaming… more »

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also evaluated Cisco Umbrella and Zscaler. The breadth of capabilities was key when making our decision so we chose Blue Coat.
