The Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is a very powerful and very complex piece of anti-viral software. When one considers that fact, it is all the more impressive that the setup is a fairly straightforward process. This is a benefit which the Palo Alto Networks Wildfire cannot claim to have. The type of companies that can afford to employ the Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall stand to lose the most, if the process of securing their systems are hopelessly convoluted.

Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall’s straightforward setup process continues on even after the software is in place. Networks can be grouped so that if upgrades are necessary, all of the firewalls are upgraded at the same time.

There are different tools that can be easily integrated into the protective matrix created by this firewall. Cisco has threat management and threat hunting tools which can be incorporated into your organization’s security network within a matter of minutes. The straightforward way in which both the setup and upgrade of the firewall occur give Cisco Firepower NGFW certainly an edge over the competition.

The ability of Cisco Firepower NGFW to spot and report vulnerabilities in an organization’s systems is another thing that makes it impressive. Cisco assigns grades to the different intrusions that it detects. Now, instead of wondering where you should assign resources when some kind of breach is detected, Cisco will notify users about the severity of individual threats. This allows users to be aware of and judge the nature of the attacks that are launched against their networks. Cisco Firepower NGFW learns about the environment that it has been installed into. Users gain the ability to leverage this in a way which will allow the firewall to choose the method best suited to protect your network from harmful intrusions.

Palo Alto Networks WildFire does begin to check for viruses without prompting. This feature allows businesses and individuals to maximize their productivity. The software is also simple to use. However, it is initially a little difficult to configure.

Conclusion

A Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is a robust program that is designed to be straightforward to implement. However, unless you are a large company or organization, its price tag may be higher than you are willing to pay. Palo Alto Networks WildFire is also a pricey program. It does not offer the same robust level of protection that a Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall provides.

The Cisco Firepower NGFW are a very robust and efficient firewalls. The only weak I can say is their Firepower Management Center, is a tool a bit slow, to tell the true the new versions go faster but I think they need to improve this tool, is very powerful in features but it needs to go a bit faster. As to Palo Alto I don't work with any yet, so I can't tell anything.
