VMware Horizon has proven to be the only best product for enabling individuals across Europe to efficiently run jobs on our compute cluster while accessing the graphical user interface of their Linux machines. The main benefit lies in robust security features. From the point of view of virtual desktop deployment, it gives standardized access to our users. Its most valuable feature is the rapid and versatile access from clients operating on various Windows, Linux, and MacOS systems. It has benefited users in terms of speed and reliability of the connection, including security aspects. We never encountered any issues related to the reliability and uptime of the platform. One area for enhancement in VMware Horizon that would greatly benefit our use cases involves improved support for USB connectivity, allowing seamless tunneling of USB devices from laptops to the virtual machines running in the VDI. Additionally, addressing a bug related to integrating Active Directory and Linux environments is crucial for reliability. We have designed an independent IT infrastructure for Horizon. Thus, the scalability creates no disturbance to our overall infrastructure. We have compared a few features of other open-source products. VMware Horizon is better in terms of graphical user interface for Linux users. I advise others to consider infrastructure, virtualization, network, and storage requirements before making a purchase decision. I rate VMware Horizon an eight out of ten.

There is no maintenance required for VMware Horizon, and all a user has to do is upgrade the solution whenever required. The product notifies its users of the upgrades that it provides. Google Workspace is a good alternative to VMware Horizon Horizon. Google Workspace functions as a cloud-based product. Users who want a solution deployed on an on-premises model can opt for VMware Horizon. I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

When contemplating a shift to the cloud, thorough cost calculations are essential due to the dynamic nature of cloud models. Horizon, focused on the modern workspace, provides cost control in on-premises environments. It's important to assess whether the claimed functionalities of the cloud align with your needs and if you can manage associated costs. Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. I recommend choosing the best implementation company because sometimes clients aren't happy with Horizon due to poor implementation. I've seen this happen often. So, selecting a company with a lot of experience and successful implementations is essential. Sometimes, users get frustrated not with the product itself but with the way it's implemented.

If you have large contact center users or significant office users, and you are looking for a long-term ROI over a period of ten years or more, VMware VDI would be a suitable choice.

Our company became a VMware partner because they already had Airwatch as a very large product, and VMware purchased Airwatch. We then did some Digital Workspace and complimented it with Horizon. We do infrastructure as well as network virtualization. I would advise using a trial first. You can use a free trial version for 60 days for almost every VMware product that is available. Register for a trial, download the bits and you are ready to go. For two months you can spend some quality time to see if the solution is what you need. There are also the VMware hands-on labs that VMware provides. VMware provides live labs that you can use. They are built on request just by clicking a button and one minute later you have an environment that you want to get acquainted with. It allows you to open the console, change the configuration and do whatever you want, and when you are done, the lab gets destroyed and rebuilt for another person free of charge. It's a friendly way to get to know a product and to get acquainted with the look and feel to see if it is something that would fit with your environment. Then you could try a trial in your environment. I would rate VMware Horizon an eight out of ten. It is a complete product. It is fully mature, easy to manage, and it is easy to design if you know what you are doing. It is stable and there are new features that come from the new release twice a year.

I would have said this solution needs to improve in profile management a couple of years ago because VMware does not have profile management that works out of the box. However, this issue was solved by Microsoft by releasing a solution that works very well with VMware Horizon. Those who are wanting to implement this solution should consider the Cloud offerings for VMware Horizon. There is a possibility it could cut the time for delivery and it is more scalable. You will not have scalability issues. I rate VMware Horizon 7 an eight out of ten.

You should know why you need this solution. Before working with Horizon 7, you should have at least three to six months of experience with VMware and ESXi. You also need to get well trained in Horizon 7. I would rate VMware Horizon 7 an eight out of ten. It is a stable and feature-rich solution at a fair price.

We aren't on the latest version of the solution. We're at minus one right now. The final upgrade has not been done due to the pandemic situation. In our kind of environment, it's just more of a media use case, so we used it and it made sense. If you have variable workloads, not a uniform workload, then it might not go under the licensing for just VDIs, asVDIs specifically cover your operating system instances as well as uniform with the VDI clients. If it is a uniform VDI client, such as all Windows 10 systems for users to log in, like on host environment, or it's all a server farm, etc., for those kinds of environments, Horizon is a no brainer. A company should go for it. I'd recommend it. It is a good solution to work with. Overall, I would rate the solution eight out of ten. For the most part, we've been quite satisfied with the results.

They have both options of deployment models. If it is on-premises, it's as per their proprietary prerequisite. With the cloud, they have AWS and Microsoft Azure. I would recommend VMware Horizon 7 if the customer already has the VMware virtualized environment in place. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

These virtualization capabilities help simplify and speed up application delivery and greatly reduce enterprise costs.
